Hi,

Moms and Family whom have been treated badly and exploited at MIHS did anyone bother contacting patient protective services or Patient Advocate at MIHS?

If you are travelling within 2 weeks and you present your ticket, they will do it without "settlement". But if you don't have your ticket as evidence of travel, I really don't know the process for getting them to issue the naija passport on the same day without greasing their palms small. Maybe sm1 else in the house can tell us exactly how to go abt it.

In my own case, I just did the normal process, paid the normal amount, included our ticket and went home. They mailed my baby's passport in the self-addressed envelope 10days b4 our travel date so I didn't have to worry.

I wanted to confirm the settlement part because I eead an old thread which mentioned settlement too. Thanks Blogerina n Alubosa.

Please, avoid anything Doctors Para Ti for now until all their issues is sorted. Refill hour ds 160 and get new hospitals. I don't want anyone to go through that interview and go home depressed afterwards. Depression in pregnancy is bad for your health. I love you smiley

No1 dont bother coding,/hiding the belle. Send a mail to d embassy that you want to use ur visa for childbirth. Search through the page for lagosniv or read the last two pages. Someone put the appropriate reference there.

No2 advice kindly start reading the prev pages and begin searching for hospitals you intend to use. You will need a doctor correspondence and/or letter of confirmation to take you on as a patient.

You can leave anytime dependn on your strength and willingness of a doc to have you and airline policy for preggies.

I hope you don't mind me giving my 1 kobo.

Being denied visa isn't something you will want to experience. In my opinion and from what I've observed, it actually becomes more difficult to get approved subsequently. My point is; I really donot think you should risk going for that interview with El Paso letter. The VOs minds are already biased towards anything Doctores. A Dr's name and signature will not automatically change their views.

One can use that letter for POE, but please, get another Doctor for the purpose of your interview. You've still got sometime on your hands. Changing info on DS 160 isn't such a big deal. Know you can always switch over to Doctores after your visa has been granted. This is not illegal in anyway.

Thanks Phema,

Wots the procedure for changing info? I already submitted n got an appointment.

Tnx.

@Jomikish; I'm going to quote raii (just incase you didn't see it)

raii:
It is. You enter in your current d160 no. in d ceac website, date of birth and all that, retrieve aapplication. You will see two options: print confirmation and click start a new application. I know you should click the second one thoufh.

Your travel details will remain the same but all other details need to be updated.a new ds160 no will be generated. Dont forget to print it out after d final submission.

If you have your interview appointment already which has ur old no, you can email the embassy support@ustraveldocs.com to change d no to d current one. They will ask for d data page of your passport and a scanned copy of the new ds160 confirmation.

Hello everyone. So i'll start by saying this thread is one of the best on NL. Kudos to the forerunners and all those presently keeping it alive. Not a day passes by without me peeping in.
I'm not really new on the thread. My first post was sometime in August last year. Made plans to travel but lost the pregnancy in 1st trimester. God has been merciful to me and now I'm pregnant again. I've set the ball rolling for my plans to have my babies in US next year. I have a jotter with info I kept since last year, but pls from time to time I may ask for some clarification.
May God honor the desires of our hearts and be with you all. Cheers!

@Tvegas: At the time i was ready to go, i called Delta and they said they are no longer faring, intact i had to use their oga there and it didn't work. The fare promo was supposed to end this wednesday and it has ended last week because there is no more space. No pains because there is greater joy now.

You are welcome to the thread. I will start by saying the days of packaging pregnancies at the POE is far gone, but a lot of people still do it. Even though the USA does not advertise Birth Tourism, however it is not illegal to give birth in the USA if you can convince the Border Officer with Dr's appointment and cash. Dont let anyone mislead you because you will hear a lot of wrong information out there.

Take my case for instance, I met an elderly friend at the American ambassador's residence on July 1st,during the independence day celebration. He is a commercial attache at the US embassy but knows nada about the birthing process. I told him about my plans to birth in the USA and he warned me not to follow wifey for her interview, that they may cancel my visa and that wife should package her pregnancy at the POE. Whose words was i suppose to believe,if not him?. Luckily i stumbled on this thread took my time to read and applied everything. Its even easier for you because you have a visa already, notify the embassy of your plan. You will be travelling by the 7th/8th month, so you have at least 2 months to read this thread and jot down all the information needed. Wish you the best.

Buy multiple ticket naa, make we follow you go do owambe for elpaso. grin. I guess Delta just used that promo to drive traffic or maybe they actually got oversubscribed.

Good day to you all. I need your advice please Biko. I applied with hubby and my youngest daughter for tourist visa Sept 2nd but we were denied based on section 214b. Tvegas adviced that my hubby biz inconsistency might be a red flag to the VO and changing biz within a year does not show stability. He adviced we reapply only if circumstances have changed so as not to come across as being desperate.
Am 11weeks and 6days pregnant. I have email correspondence from a doctor in Los Angeles cos I have family there. I have the doctor and hospital bills too.
My concern is this ; the doctor didn't send d emails directly. One of his nurses replied on his behalf hope it's okay to present that at the embassy Secondly my appointment with the doctor is Dec 18th I want to go for d interview early December cos of the 3 months wait that I read on the embassy website. Can I reapply next month or wait till early December and I want to reapply with my youngest daughter. I also want to travel for few weeks and come back home b4 I travel for childbirth cos am due in May 2015.
Am sorry for d long write up, I need your candid opinion and advice. Thanks in advance.

Here is my poe story.
Had a v long flight. About 16 hrs. Travelled with my 2 year old daughter. I 'm usually very sick throughout my Pregnancies reason why I cldnt travel to have my first daughter abroad. So this time God blessed me with a few days a month occasional feeling better. So I planned my journey well.
Arrived Houston. My turn. After greetings.
Officer: who are u visiting?
Me: Bro n to have my baby
Off: pls stand there someone will com for u
I was taken to d customs office. Sat down. My daughter was screaming cuz she was so exhausted. After about an hr I was called into a small office ( our flight arrived at 5 pm)
Officer: why are you back so soon? ( cuz I was in the US earlier this year)
Me: to have my baby
Officer: oh u r pregnant?
Me: yes 7 mnths
Officer: u know child birth in the US is v expensive.
Me: yes sir I brought in sone money plus I have my card to use just incase I need it
Officer: how much do u have?
Me: 8500$
Officer: I know u have accommodation from a relative but 8500$ won't b enough for delivery
Me: I did some findings and already made arrangements with a doctor and a hospital n d quote I have is 4500 for doc n hospital for normal n 6000 for CS plus other possible little amounts- ( Dr Hyunh)
Officer cuts in: 8000 can't deliver a baby in the US. Hospitals take far more than that.
Me: I have the document from the Dr showing all the pricing. ( sending my hand into bag to bring out all documents and email correspondence)
Officer: cuts in - I don't want to see any documents. Wait outside someone else will interview u.
I sat on a chair close to d officer door but he came out n drove me like a dog to go sit where I was sitting bfor. I went n sat there. 1 hr later another officer came up to me. Off: why did u refuse to talk? Me: No sir didn't refuse. Answered every question. Then I explained everythg that went on in d office. Off: U may go sit over der n be mor comfortable (pointing at that same chair I sat before being driven like a dog. It was mor comfortable n had a leg raise. My baby was cryx n i was so weak w very swollen feet n lookx so pale. ) Me: No sir . I was der before but was asked to wake up. Officer: I am his boss and I am telling u to go sit der. I sed thank u sir n moved over. .... to b continued in next post. My fone keeps freezing

For where? You have to park your car at home and take BRT.

Anyways...just kidding! There's parking space, you enter from that road that links bonny camp to muson centre road because you can't enter thru walter carrington, N500 for parking mama.

Am assuming your interview is in lagos...

Poe story continued.
So I went over n sat down n raised my feet n tried to console my 2 yr old baby who was now so exhausted n hungry. Waited for about 3 hrs n walked up to the boss n asked him wen I was going to be interviewed again and my daughter is very tired n hungry likewise my sick self. He sed at mid night. Was 11:13 pm den. Sed dey had baby food. He brought boiled white rice with no salt n no sauce to feed my baby who quickly spat it out the moment d tasteless food touched her tongue. I gave her som cheerios I had in my bag but dis didn't calm her down cuz she was exhausted. Tried to make her sleep to no avail. Den he took us to a small room with some broken toys n turned on the TV, sed I cld lie on d mat on d floor n den left. waited till 12:40 am and asked one other officer cuz dey changed shift at midnight. Sed I shld wait and asked why I refused to talk before. Left to go to d restroom but d officer sed i shldnt leave dat small room with no window. Sed i was going to d rest room. Went to d rest room n came back to d room. He shut d door n sed i shld keep d door closed. About 2:30 I opened d door to go to the restroom again n he came screemx at me and shouted at my lil girl to go back in but i intervened n sed we were going to d restroom. waited n waited till 4 am. When a lady officer came n called me to her office n asked to see d price sheet from Hyunh. Asked if my hubby works in X company. Sed yes. Started chattx about how itz their biggest oil company. N she has to travel for work bla bla etc. Stamped us in for 6 mnths at 4:30 am.
Der were some 2 pregnant naija mama's who had been waiting der since mornx before I came in at 5:30 pm. One of dem was stamped in released 30 mins before me. The other was left der. Sed dey wld send her back. She even started having cramps, dey rushed her to d hospital where she spent 1500$ after which she was brought back in for detention. She sed der were 2 other naija mamas on her flight who had already been sent back to naija.
There are lots of people being sent back at poe but don't come back here to tell deir story. We just have to b very thankful for smooth poe. Dey were all Spanish people n don't allow cell phones or other electronic devices. Sometimes we may just have it hard cuz someone doesn't like u.
