Sure. Most, if not all diplomatic passport holder do not require a visa before they travel. But ALL official passport holders require one.

...and you will not see them in visa queues or interview boxes.

Not all carry red passports. State Security Service officials, medical personnel, State House correspondence (journos) do not carry red passport. And they need visa.
Abeg tell the guy oooo. See confusion abeg....
justwise:

Please stop lying, those traveling with GEJs will be holding red passports grin, they don't need visa,

Those who do will not be queuing for visa at US embassy grin, its express with note verbale

Lol. I laugh at your thought.
An Official Passport (Blue Cover) is what they issue to people traveling with GEJ from State House and these people travel before the President to make preparation for his coming (and it is not all of the them, some still make use of their ECOWAS/Ordinary passport). They are not diplomat. I repeat, THEY ARE NOT DIPLOMAT!!!

Secondly, a note verbale is written/issued when someone is embarking on an OFFICIAL assignment. Most times when traveling, the Protocol Officer writes to the Embassy accompanying the passports or passport number of people (with ordinary or official passport) traveling for an assignment with the following reasons:
1. That such Visas should be granted
2. To reduce the bureaucracy in the Embassy and tend to such passport with urgency i.e. to bypass the 45 working days most embassies put on Visa application and approval.

Thirdly, I never said the lady in question was a diplomat.... All I said was, She called someone from the Protocol Office who spoke with someone from inside the embassy and her visa was approved.

Now, who is the liar and who is the one misleading and misinforming people here? cheesy
Hope you find my summary helpful in some of your other arguments?
Cheers!

@Boss13 please don't be too sure of things you say. I just got my tourist visa and I filled the visa form at about 20 minutes before I went to the embassy for my interview. So when do you suppose secuirity checks were carried out at my bank and office? My mom also filled hers the morning of her interview and she got hers too and she is a pensioner. So pls dont mislead people.
Yea they do if they want to they have in-house verification to the banks. During my interview in 2012 the officer requested for my account statement, she just told me give me few mins when she came back she was asking me the dates and sources of certain inflows into my acct which I answered correctly she even told me a cheque lodge that same day is pending clearance which I was not even aware of but when she mentioned the name on the cheque I told her the reason for the payment after that it was just gist all the way. I got the visa and it was my first time.

Truth be told... US visa is one of the easiest visa to get. If you have a good reason to go to us, your visa application will be granted. One pointer I noticed is that they prefer certain category of people to enter ie people with ties in US that already av proper jobs, professionals etc. I applied for a visa first time this year and had a very interesting conversation (didn't seem like an interview) with the VO, and I was immediately given my visa. My travel reason was simply vacation, told him I didn't know anyone in us and I haven't decided the tour package or hoteli will be staying. It was a funny experience cos I heard many funny reasons other people gave and in my mind I already knew dey will be denied
nice to know.

Mine is not about an experience , but for those of you willing to do anything to come to the states,do not try it if you do not have a valid reason to do so! If you want to run, trust me, you will be in hotter soup when you get here! I live here and I know this for a fact! the USA of today is a far cry from the USA of 10-20 yrs ago, a word is enough for the wise!
and you arr there....why not come bak then?

Why do pple lie without doing proper research? If you have really ever applied for the US visa, you will know that it is your application confirmation page info that you book the interview with. So what's with the lie that you filled the visa form 20mins before your interview or your mum filled hers the morning of the interview, so how did you book for the interview in the first place

And this goes to those that allow touts at the embassy entrance to cajole you into refilling your forms at the premises before entering the embassy is waste of money and time. The reason your name is on the check-in list is because all previous applications and interviewees for that date has been processed with your application information and list printed. So you refilling your application prior to entering the embassy does not alter or update the previous information you had submitted

My post is not about me! It's about those who do not have valid reason to be here, I suggest you go back to primary school and retake "reading and comprehension" as a major!

According to the Visa Officer here https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening/15#27773269 I think they used to allow people with different confirmation numbers on DS-160 and appointment page go ahead with their interview. But this will no longer be allowed starting from December 1, 2014.

So filling a new DS-160, 20 mins before interview is very likely possible.

I was there a week back around 6:30am. We all waited patiently for the first interview and hoped that if his/her visa was granted the goodluck would rub off on the rest of us....for where?

It was a lady and her interview took place in booth 7. She claimed that she was going to attend a seminar sponsored by a company she distributes for here in Nigeria. After the VO found her not eligible for the visa, he was about handing over her documents when the lady said, "Oga, please hold on to it, my interview can't be over". Then VO repeated that "you are ineligible", while he was saying this, the lady keep on explaining how many clients she has, how much she makes... vo repeated himself, Lady also repeated her self. At that point everyone laughed so hard. The lady left a few seconds later.

My own unusual experience.

Same day as above. While waiting in line outside, I discovered that I was feeling some fresh air around my toes, on both feet. When I looked down, the sole of my shoe was coming off from the front. Horror!!! I've not even entered the Consulate yet. Why me? With each step I took, more of the sole was coming off, got to a point I couldn't lift my feet to walk, I dragged them, I was already in the interviewing area at this point.

I kept on praying for this little incidence not to cause any visa denial. It didn't. After it was approved, I majestically walked out with half of the sole of my shoe gone. When people waiting outside saw me, there laughed, and I thought within myself......"dey laugh me, make you no go face your own interview"

NOW THIS IS FUNNEY cheesy cheesy... HOPE U GOT IT DOUGH?

I followed my friend and the girlfriend down to the embassy for the interview. We got there as early as 6am in the morning while I sat go the car praying hard for my friend because he promised to part with 200 dollars after the whole thing. Well, I wasn't allowed to enter so I sat in the car waiting for the young couple to come back with good news but alas they came back with frown. OmG! They were denied. Actually I had to force myself not to laugh because the look was so unpleasant, if a new born baby should spot that kinda look on his arrival to plane earth, the baby might be tempted to go back to heaven. I later asked my friend what transpired in there and I was told the consular asked them about their responsibility and they couldn't give a convincing answer. The so called couple broke up 2weeks after the interview.
