I wish people would stop with the (brainless) Igbo greed/money stereotype and for once try to understand the socio-economic reasons for why things are the way they are post 1970.

This is the reason why I shake my head at Biafra not being taught in Nigerian schools.

my brother, I am a proud Ibo son, I have read the history of the Nigeria-biafra war several times by Chukwuemeka Ike, Chinua Achebe. I know so much about the pain and the trauma my people passed through then. I advocate that African, Nigeria history be taught in schools right from the primary level to the tertiary level. But the 2 pounds given to Igbo after the civil war is not a justification to engaging in illegal deals ok. Meanwhile when the southeasterners where classified as igbos non outside the territory of the then Biafra was exempted. The same injustice was meted out to them too. But the truth be told, we are money driven. Don't get me wrong, its not bad, but when you attempt at getting it in the illegal way and thereby getting yourself in trouble, that is were you have yourself to blame.

When I see people passing judgments like " let them rot in the prison " "let them die" bla bla bla! I will say one thing, if you are passing judgment on a drug peddler and you are sleeping with another man's wife you will die a more shameful death like these guys, if you father is a politician in this country and you open ur filthy mouth to talk shi.t on some guys that are serving jail terms in an inhumane nature then one day that house he built with stolen money will collapse on your families head, ....... If I am to go on and keep giving instances on why we shouldn't, people, I don't think many Nigerians will escape judgment including me.
Let's be careful, it could be your brother sherif, Ikenna or Mamoud that is seriously ill in prison. Let's just keep them in our prayers

Is better than that pig infested country of yours, where the innocent gets bomb left and right. They have better life than innocent nigerians on the street of Lagos and sokoto.

Product of green card. Why did your criminal father forked your trailer trash fat mother.

Core Igbos (South Easterners) were economically and infrastructurally worse off than their kins in the SS (i.e. Delta and Rivers). This is an undisputed fact.

is it then a prelude to carrying drugs and other dirty dealings? Please lets not argue this. You are a free moral agent so u can take the risk but when caught, don't complain for intervention.

It's not easy for Black people.
Due to bad governance, we are all struggling to make it through everyday.
The places that awaits us are the Prisons and the grave.
That's where we end up eventually and directly from struggle.

Africa is very unlucky. We are the worst of all humans when it comes to mindsets..

All German Prisons are better than almost all parts of Lagos State.
But an African Prison is a hell inside a hell. Yet we exist on the same planet. And some religious fanatics believe that we will end up in one hell or one Heaven. When some people are already in Heaven and hell here on earth.

Nigerians are in prions in every country on earth. We have been holding that record for one decade.
I am Igbo and I can tell you that most of them prisoners are Igbo. Thats a situation we found ourselves after post civil war policies that was specifically designed to keep us on the ground forever.

I read kids here pointing fingers at other tribes for being this or that. Nobody ever wanted to be a terrorist when he was born, the system made him to adopt that philosophy. Don't blame them, think of a way to convince them with your own ideologies. That's what is called wisdom. Not calling people names on the Internet as if your own life is perfect.

I was a drug Lord as well. But fortunately I skipped prison and knew when to run and start a legitimate business with the little I raised.

I advice everybody who intends to do drug business to have a plan from day one.
Set a goal of a capital required to do some legal business. Run away as so as you get it. You won't blame yourself much if you are captured before you make the capital. But you will blame yourself if you get that capital and remain in the business. Drug business is not a career business. Get that.

I know it's difficult to start a life especially if you don't have support..

Mother Nature will see all of us through.. But remember what I said "Plan from the beginning"

May God have mercy on them and I urged our incompetent president to tend to their aid and am thus sure we had Senator Obanikoro as the former ambassador to ghana, I wonder if he had ever bring it to the table of the presidents....!!! Pls help they call, not to be freed but to repatriate them back home to continue their convictions...!!!

Disadvantaged peoples are more prone to societal ills. Objectively speaking what is bad is bad but circumstances can create an environment where ills can flourish... this is sociology 101. Societies that sideline groups will almost always be plagued by crime and misgivings by the same groups they marginalize.

Nobody is really a free moral agent. You are only what your surroundings make you out to be.

A good question that may shed more light to what I am trying to say is....did Igbos have a criminal reputation prior to 1966? If not, what circumstances changed them as a result?

Good and evil are not inherent characteristics neither are they created in a vacuum.

hello i strongly disagree with your post, if one chooses to do bad things in life them he or she should be ready to face whatever that happens in the process, am sorry for Nigerians serving jail terms in most prisons all over the world but am sure more than 70% of their crimes are drug related and frauds issues, every country in the world have laws guarding them which am very sure drug trafficking is a very serious offense in most countries, then why are my people engaging in this business? all in the name of making money? and if they are caught we blame the government for everything. lots of businesses one can do internationally, have seen people exporting garri, stock fish, coal, even yams from Nigeria to Canada, states and all over the world and they make cool millions, drug trafficking is bad and dangerous thing to engage in, i will not advice one body to engage in sure business when you are caught that's the end. SAY NO TO DRUGS.
