Na mate, Work permit is only valid for FIFA recognised matches. CHAN is not FIFA recognised. If it was, are you saying the boy's agent and City are that stupid not to know it will enhance his chances?
Ejike Uzoenyi, the star player of the CHAN championship made it to the tournament. Iheanacho was supposed to be the star of the team. Coach Keshi centered the team around Iheanacho.

Even if CHAN was not part of the rules, it makes a valid argument that he was a special talent to be called for the National team.

Yes, Manchester City officials blew a huge chance. The staffs were interested in securing his signature. The other possibilities were ignored.

Nacho's parents and his agent Galliano. If Coach Keshi was listened to, Nacho would have been in the squad. He would have plagued more Super Eagles matches and his work permit would have been easier to secure.

The only plea I have is for Coach Keshi to remember he is young and he had people like his dad and agent dictating the decision.

Coach Keshi should forgive him and call him to the National team. If Nacho is as good as we believe, the National team could play a role in helping him secure his work permit. We should not wait for foreign clubs to do things for us. A National team call up and playing time will go a long way to help. The mistake has been made.

CAF: FIFA recognized CHAN, a victory for Hayatou

The court stated that FIFA had finally agreed to formally recognize the competition. The matches in the finals will be even taken into account in the preparation of monthly ranking selections at FIFA.

The Manchester City officials made a huge mistake not listening to Coach Keshi. I doubt his agent relayed Coach Keshi's suggestion. He was eager to cash in and close the deal.

Confusion reigns over U23s backroom staff

The confusion over those to be on the backroom staff of the Nigeria U23 team was only sorted out by a top sports ministry chieftain, AfricanFootball.com has learnt.

At a time, the U23s had four kit managers, three co-ordinators, two doctors as well as two goalkeeper trainers.

However, it needed the intervention of the director-general of the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC), Gbenga Elegbeleye and some top NFF officials to clear the confusion.

Former international David Ngodigha, who was originally appointed as the team’s co-ordinator, has now been asked to leave the team after Alloy Agu showed up as the team’s goalkeeper trainer.

Agu was only recently appointed goalkeeper trainer for the Super Eagles before Stephen Keshi was re-instated as the team’s head coach and his original backroom staff returned with him.

Last week, NFF president Amaju Pinnick promised that secretariat staff will now be appointed as kit managers and co-ordinators of the various national teams

If we have three over aged players, then the best players of the Super Eagles main team will join them. A captain would GBE selected from there.

Fit-again Olaitan to take it a step at a time

Michael Olaitan has said he will take it a step at a time after he resumed full training with Greek champions Olympiacos following a health scare eight months ago.

In March, the 21-year-old Olaitan was hospitalised after he lost consciousness during a derby against bitter local rivals Panathinaikos.

Doctors carried out several further tests over the last months to ensure the Nigerian was in good health. He also visited heart specialists in Belgium to get a clean bill of health.

"I'm beginning to feel my body responding. I feel great, but will take it one step at a time," Olaitan told the Olympiakos website Friday.

"It's very important that I try and be patient, but I'm really happy with my progress."

Olympiacos confirmed the midfielder’s remarkable comeback on their website, while his management company, Pro Sports International, congratulated the player, who played for Nigeria at the Fifa under-20 World Cup last year, on his return.

Goal king to miss Siasia’s screening

Dolphins’ FC goal poacher, Emem Eduok will not be part of Wednesday’s screening exercise for the National U23 team in Abuja.

Eduok was listed in Batch B of a group of players to strut their stuff for places in next year’s All Africa Games and Olympic Games team but it seems that will not happen for now.

Knock

In Sunday’s Federation Cup final against Enyimba, Eduok received a knock after an Enyimba defender barrelled into him in the second half.

Though he was able to complete the game, he may have to rest his legs as he left the pitch after the game, limping.
- I will show myself to the coaches in Abuja as a sign of good faith so they know I want to be part of the team.

Aggravate

- I would have loved to be part of the training but I do not want to aggravate the injury which does not seem very serious right now, Eduok said.

- I hope that Samson Siasia and the rest of the coaching crew will call me up again at some other time.

Emem Eduok scored twenty five goals this season, twenty in the League and four in the Federation Cup with Dolphins and one for the national team.

Nigeria Olympic team battle Gabon

Nigeria U23 team under coach Samson Siasia will take on Gabon in a qualifying match for the 2015 All Africa Games.

The first leg is slated for Libreville in February and it will be Siasia’s first game back in charge of the team after he led them to reach the final of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Gabon won the CAF U23 tournament in Morocco in 2011 to qualify for the London Olympics the following year.

The Nigeria Olympic team have been screening in Abuja ahead of both the All Africa Games and 2016 Olympic qualifiers.

Siasia has planned to look at as many as 116 players from both the Nigeria Premier League as well as the lower Nigeria National League as he assembles another new Olympic team for the country.

The U23s have called up Eagles stars like Solomon Kwambe and Emem Eduok for the exercise.

Tesho Akindele is MLS Rookie of the Year

FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele has been named Major League Soccer's Rookie of the Year 2014, the league has announced.

Tesho Akindele was born in Canada to a Nigerian father and a Canadian mother and moved with his family to the U.S. at the age of eight.

The award culminates an outstanding season for the 22-year-old Akindele which saw him rise from NCAA Division II soccer to the national-team radar of both his native Canada and the United States.

Akindele finished the 2014 season with seven goals and three assists, starting 18 games and making 26 appearances. He played all 270 minutes for FCD in the postseason and scored the opening goal in the club's 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Western Conference knockout round.

He has a cap for Canada U17 national team, played four years for the Colorado School of Mines and is the first player in team history to win Rookie of the Year.

He was drafted by Dallas with the sixth pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, but played just 15 minutes in two appearances in the first 10 Dallas games of the season.

"At the beginning of the year, I had the highest hopes," Akindele said.

"I wasn't getting too much time, but as things went on, I got so much playing time, got to score goals, in the roster all the time. It's been a fantastic year. I couldn't be happier."

But an injury to playmaker Mauro Diaz forced Dallas to change their style, and Akindele played a key role, seeing time both as a wide player and a target forward, capable of switching spots during a game.

He is the first forward to win the award since Kansas City's CJ Sapong in 2011, and just the fourth forward to win the award since it was introduced in 1996.

The rookie forward made 26 appearances in the regular season, 18 of which were starts, logging 1,748 minutes and playing every minute of the Hoops’ playoff run.

The 22-year-old recorded seven goals and three assists during the regular season, adding a goal in the MLS Cup playoffs against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Akindele was named MLS Player of the Week for Week 23 after he recorded his first MLS hat-trick in a 5-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes on August 16.

Onyekachi In Demand

A Swiss Challenge League side and Antalyaspor, Turkey are battling for the signature of Abia Warriors goal poacher Peter Onyekachi in the winter transfer market.

But it is understood that the team based in Switzerland are the frontrunners to secure his services, so much so that they have offered him a one-year contract without undergoing trials, having scouted him in a league game against Awka United.

“They watched me against Awka United. I have been praying to move abroad and thank God I have the opportunity now,” Peter Onyekachi said to SL10.ng.

“Abia Warriors are negotiating with the Swiss club and Antalyaspor, who have offered me a one-year deal too.

“The Chairman of Abia Warriors has called me, saying I should prepare to move abroad, and I told him I was ready.”

Peter Onyekachi is one of the stars in the domestic championship invited to participate in a screening exercise by Under 23 coach, Samson Siasia.

“I am joining the Under 23 team on Saturday. It's a dream come true. I have been praying to represent my country, I'm so happy about the invitation,” he said.

Peter Onyekachi has one year left to run on his contract with Abia Warriors, whom he has represented since 2010.

The 22-year-old netted 16 goals in all competitions in the just concluded season.

I'm too old for U23s admits Yekeen

Bayelsa United goalkeeper Kazeem Yekeen has told AfricanFootball.com he cannot be part of the Nigeria U23 team because he is over the age.

Yekeen, who was part of the Nigeria U20 team to the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup, said he was disappointed not to honour a training camp by the Olympic team.

"I was happy to be invited to national team once again after I had played for the U20s, but I decided not to go to camp because I know I am over the age. I was born November 1, 1992,” he revealed.

“It would have be an opportunity for me to be in the spotlight of the world again but I need not to report to camp, raise my hope and that of the coach and at the end of the day be dropped. That did not make sense to me."

Only players born after January 1, 1993, are eligible for the Olympic team.

Dolphins FC forward Emem Eduok was dropped from the team after several discrepancies were discovered over his age, according to a tweet by the team’s media officer Timi Ebikagboro.

Different sources put different date of birth for the striker as January 31, 1994, and August 31, 1994.

Olympic Team: Siasia sets Dec 6 deadline

Samson Siasia has set a 6th December deadline for home based players invited for the Nigeria U23 team, and put an arrival date of 8th December for foreign based players.

Timi Ebikagboro, the Media Officer of the team, quoted Siasia as saying that from 7th December, invited foreign based professional players would be expected to arrive the team’s camp to join the team and commence their screening.

Programme

- We don’t have time on our hands, so from the program we have drawn up, the team will continue screening from the 1st to the 6th of December, then the overseas based players will join from the 7th.

The screening for the foreign based will continue till the 12th of December when we will, hopefully, travel to Bauchi to play a friendly game.

Opportunity

Siasia insists that any home based player who fails to report to the camp of the team between the 1st to the 6th of December should forget about coming to camp as they have all been given enough opportunity to showcase their talent and earn themselves a place in the team.

Some of the invited players have expressed reservations at being screened, insisting that they did enough during the season to merit direct call ups into the U23 side.

Siasia steps up build-up for Gabon test

Nigeria U23 team coach Samson Siasia has stepped up his build-up for an All Africa Games qualifier against Gabon in the New Year.

Siasia has ordered the selected home-based professionals to report to a training camp on January 4 after the players would have proceeded on a break from December 20.

Over 1,000 players based locally have attended the screening, which began last month.

Foreign-based professionals are expected to report to training camp in Abuja from December 7 and a test game against a yet-to-be-named team in Bauchi on December 12.

In February, Siasia’s team take on Gabon with the first leg away in Libreville and the return leg early March in Nigeria.

The winners of that fixture square up with the winners of the fixture between Zambia and Madagascar in late March.

The 11th All-Africa Games will be staged by Congo Brazzaville in July 2015.

Eduok Clarifies Age Discrepancy/

Emem Eduok has expressed regret over the decision of Nigeria Under-23 coach Samson Siasia to drop him from the ongoing screening exercise due to some discrepancies about his age.

The Dolphins striker has maintained his innocence, and has pointed out that his club, Dolphins of Port Harcourt, had sent documents to the League Management Committee that overstated his age.

“I picked up a muscle injury during the Federation Cup but I still showed up in camp last Wednesday. That same day, I was permitted by the coaches to leave after I showed them the injury,” Eduok told SL10.ng.

“The Dolphins Secretary submitted a wrong date of birth to the LMC when I was registered for the League. I was not born in 1991 and that's the date the Under-23 coaches picked.

“The age the LMC is using is different from what I have on my international passport. I'm 20-years-old, that's the age on FIFA records.

“They are capitalizing on that discrepancy. They said I'm above the age limit, it doesn't bother me.”

Despite the embarrassment, the Federation Cup Most Valuable Player has refused to shut the door on the Under-23 team, and he is hoping everything is resolved soon.

“It is a thing of joy to be invited to camp. I don't know what they want to do now. There is nobody to fight for me, but God will fight for me,” added Eduok.

“Nigeria is my country and I can't reject an invitation. If this is settled, I will return to the team.”

Eduok is presently in Uyo undergoing rehabilitation, and he is expected to be fully fit in the next two weeks, if all goes well.

Arsenal's Ajayi Inspired By Mertesacker

Ex Nigeria Under 20 defender, Semi Ajayi, has spoken about his experience training with the Arsenal senior squad and singled out German World Cup winner Per Mertesacker as his role model in the team.

Ajayi has been training with Arsenal’s first team for just over a season and, although he has not made his competitive debut yet, he believes it will come soon.

"I’ve been training with them for a while so I’m quite familiar with them, but players like Per Mertesacker really helped me fit in when I first started training with them. I used to play alongside him quite a lot and he gave me really good advice." he told Arsenal.com

"He’s a a role model for me. He’s got so much experience and he reads the game really well. You can really learn from playing with and watching players like him.

“It shows that there’s a pathway through to the first team. As long as you work hard and do the right things, you’ll get your opportunity. I’m hoping to make my debut and after that make as many appearances as I can.”

Ajayi's only first team appearance with the Gunners was the 45 minutes he played in a pre-season friendly against Boreham Wood.

He joined Arsenal last summer from Charlton Athletic and as he waits for ‎his first team debut, he's enhanced his chances by forming a solid partnership with Stefan O’Connor for the under-21s.

His commanding performances were rewarded with a place on the first-team bench against Southampton and, more recently, Hull City.

However, he is yet to be offered a new deal by the team with his current deal set to run out this summer.

New York City FC Urged To Go For Iheanacho

Manchester City's MLS franchise New York City FC have been urged to make a loan move for City trainee, Kelechi Iheanacho.

NYCFC are expected to loan four players from City's academy but the 18-year-old Nigeria currently only has a pre-contract agreement with the English champions, who are yet to make it a permanent deal.

Iheanacho trained with the City first team all through the week leading to last weekend's clash against Swansea City and according to Manchester City evening news, Stuart Brennan, the Nigeria has a visa that only allows him to train.

He can't be used by the team in competitive games, as he is yet to get a work permit and SkyScarpers blue columnist Michael Schwarts says he won't be a bad loan signing for the MLS outfit.

He reckoned he will be ‎a great addition to the team alongside David Villa and Frank Lampard in the team's inaugural season in the MLS.

Regarded as one of Africa's future greats in football, the Nigerian is a composed finisher with a keen vision in creating goals for others and shone in City's pre-season tour of America, ‎where he scored twice including a goal against AC Milan.

Reports claimed there is interest for his services from a host of Clubs in Europe with Belgium side Mechelen particularly mentioned as a future loan destination if he eventually signs the dotted lines for Manchester City.

The 2013 Under-17 World Cup MVP and ‎tournament golden ball winner also won the CAF most promising talent of the year award in 2013 and he is expected to be a member of Nigeria next Under-20 or 23 team.

Siasia's Dream Team Thrash NYSC

Samson Siasia's Nigeria's U/23 side defeated NYSC football team 3-0 on Saturday as he continues to screen players for the Dream Team.

The ex-international, who led the Dream Team to the finals of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing where his team couldn't hold back a Lionel Messi inspired Argentina team from picking the gold medal, saw his experimental team defeat NYSC team who put up an impressive display in the friendly match played at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja.

Among prominent figures in the stands to watch the game was the Director General of the NYSC Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumi, who came to give his boys all the support.

The entertaining game started at about 4.15pm, with the Samson Siasia led boys parading the likes of Etim Mathew and Samuel Adegbenro dictating the pace of the game as Azubuike held sway in the midfield, while Samuel Adegbenro and youthful Newman tormented their opponents from the flanks.

Despite the support from the singing supporters of the NYSC team, it was the U-23 team who looked more mobile that had the game under control from the blast of the refs whistle.

These pressures led to the NYSC defenders committing so many blunders and in one of such fouled Newman Doubra in the penalty area and the resultant penalty was scored by Etim Mathew in the 35th min.

After the goal it was the Dream team VI all the way as they continued mounting pressure on their opponents with their coaches on their neck for more goals and in the 44th minute Ghali ‎Abdullahi increased the tally with a beauty of a goal.

On resumption of the second half, Coach Siasia made a total change of the players who played the first half in a bid to give all invited players the opportunity to showcase their talents.

This reduced the tempo of the game as the new players could not maintain the pace of the players who started the game.

As the coaching crew and a handful of fans who were on hand to watch the game seem to have settled for a 2-0 win for the U-23 team, the NYSC team conceded an own goal off a free kick from Fashanu in the dying minutes of the game to ensure the national team secured their fifth win since they started the screening exercise in Abuja.

The Dream Team VI had earlier defeated Wazobia FC Abuja 5-0, Jay 1 6-0, played a 2-2 draw with Inter Milan FC, forced Football College to a 1-1 draw, defeated Dara FC 4-0 and on Friday morning beat Amackson Academy of Abuja 2-1.

Siasia salutes Olympic team trialists

Coach Samson Siasia has lauded the quality of the players in the Nigeria U23 team training camp in Abuja.

Siasia said many of those especially from the academies and the Premier League have shown hunger and zeal to do the nation proud in the various competitions the team will be involved in next year.

"Getting the best legs to play for the country is work in progress, and so far I am impressed with what I have seen from those who have made themselves available to be looked at," he said.

The coach said the team will hope to prune down the number in camp by Friday so as for them to concentrate on looking at the invited foreign-based players, who are expected to arrive camp by the weekend of December 6,7.

Already the team's camp has such established Premier League stars like Rangers goalkeeper Akor Itodo, Warri Wolves pair of Freedom Omofonma and Etebor Oghenekaro, Pillars forward Azeez Shobowale, Azubuike Okechukwu and Tonbara Tiongoli from Bayelsa United, Adamu Hassan of Pillars, Obioma Arinze of El Kanemi Warriors, Chima Akas of Sharks and gold-winning U17 player Godwin Saviour of Plateau United.

The Dream Team VI will on Wednesday tackle Ine Stars Football Club of Benin in one of its numerous friendlies lined up to put the team in shape.

National U23 coach, Samson Siasia has told sl10.ng of his plans to build a more ‘comprehensive’ team for Nigeria ahead of the 2015 All Africa Games and 2016 Olympic Games.

The ‘Dream Team’ as the U23’s are called, have been screening players in Abuja in preparation for the qualifiers for their competitions, and Siasia says he is looking at building a very comprehensive team.

The former Super Eagles coach has previously handled the team – when they won a silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics – losing 1-0 to an Angel Di Maria and Lionel Messi inspired Argentina team and says he hopes to get a better team than he did six years ago.

“We had a very good team in 2008 but we are looking to build a much more comprehensive team this time. Mikel and Taiye Taiwo were not in that team and maybe it would have been better if they were, but now we are looking at making things more comprehensive. We want to build a better team with players that will be readily available for the Super Eagles,” he told sl10.ng.

But despite having the ambition of building a superior team to that of 2008, Siasia isn’t setting any targets yet, as he says he needs to have a team before thinking of any targets.

“We just started and we don’t even have a team yet, so I’m not thinking of any targets yet. We need to get a team yet and when we do I will tell you my targets. But like I said, we want to build a very strong team,” Siasia concluded.

Siasia: Dream Team Still Work In Progress

National U/23 male football team coach, Samson Siasia has expressed confidence with the quality displayed in the screening process by some players in the Dream Team VI camp.

The ex-international, Siasia and his technical crew have continued to juggle players in camp but those players who came in from academies and the Premier League have been applauded by the head coach for showing hunger and zeal to do the nation proud in the various competitions the team will be involved in next year.

"Getting the best legs to play for the country is work in progress, and so far I am impressed with what I have seen from those who have made themselves available to be looked at," said Siasia.

The gaffer said himself and his assistants would try and see how to prune down the number in camp by Friday 5th December so as for them to concentrate on looking at the invited foreign based players who are expected to arrive camp by the weekend of 6th-7th of December.

Monday's evening screening session was watched by Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, the Deputy General Secretary of the NFF and Alhassan Yakmut of the NSC.

Siasia: It Doesn’t Matter Where You Play

National
U23 football team coach Samson Siasia has confirmed that the bulk of
his team will made up of home based players, ahead of the 2015 All
Africa Games and the 2016 Olympic Games.

Nigeria currently boasts a large pool of young overseas based players
within the age bracket and the fans will be expecting to see most of
them represent the country especially at the U23 level, but Siasia
reckons that most of his players will come from Nigeria.

“We want to build a very strong Nigerian team, a home based team that
can hold their own at every given time,” said Siasia.

“It doesn’t matter whether players are coming from abroad or not, they
should be able to play so the coach will pick them instead of worrying
about those ones playing abroad.”

But despite showing an obvious preference for home based players, Siasia
however persists that only the best players will be selected
irrespective of where they play.

“Everybody has to come and give their best because I will always play
with the best players,” he added.

I hope a lot of foreign boys are invited. The more competitive the camp is, the more likely will Coach Siasia builds a strong team.

Siasia clears air on Eduok age controversy

Coach of Nigeria U23 team Samson Siasia has said he expects Dolphins and the Nigeria league to clear the age discrepancies of star striker Emem Eduok.

He further disclosed that once the issue is sorted out, the player is welcome back to the team to fight for a place.

Clarifying his position on the player, Siasia said: "The player came and never trained with the team as he said he was down with injury, and sought for permission to go and get himself properly treated before he returned, a request which I granted as I want the best from my players."

Speaking further, the coach said he invited Eduok based on the fact that he knows the player was part of the team at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup and is aware that he is under the age.

"But when his name was sent to the League Management Company for clarification like we did with the names of all the players invited from the Premier League, we noticed that his date of birth in his license sent to the LMC showed him to be 23 years of age, so the problem is between his club and the LMC, which I think should be sorted out in the interest of the player."

According to Siasia he needs all the best players the country could offer, that is why they embarked on an open screening exercise to unearth any good player, so he does not see how they would be shutting out a particular player who has shown to be one of the best this season.

‎Meanwhile, Siasia has said that there is no going back on a Friday closing date for the screening of all players from the local scene.

He said due to the short time available for the technical crew, they need to concentrate on the foreign-based players expected to start arriving the camp of the team from Saturday 6th December, as they will be having their screening from Monday 8th, December at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja.

Troost-Ekong To Join U23 Squad

William Troost-Ekong, 21, has been rewarded for his consistency this season in the Dutch Eredivisie after he was called up for a training camp by Nigeria Under 23 coach Samson Siasia.

The FC Groningen loanee recently committed his international future to Nigeria, but has caps for the youth teams of Holland, which he earned in international friendlies between 2011 and 2013.

“This is great news. Yes, I heard about the invitation through unofficial channels, but I and my club are yet to receive an official invitation,” a delighted William Troost-Ekong told SL10.ng.

“I am very happy to be called up, it's an honour and recognition for my good work. I think it is a good start to show what I am capable of.

“I have heard about Kenneth Omeruo's exploits at ADO Den Haag while on loan from Chelsea, and he's one young central defender I would love to emulate.”

Having failed a late fitness test, William Troost-Ekong was an unused substitute last Friday when Dordrecht lost to Willem II, and he is racing against the clock to be fit for Saturday's clash with PSV.

“The game against PSV will be massive this weekend and we have been training hard to prepare,” he added.

“I wasn't fit last weekend and will have to see if I am fit enough to play tomorrow.”

Described as a defender with good positional awareness, William Troost-Ekong has played 11 games in the topflight this season.

Iheanacho Regarded Highly By Pellegrini

Manchester City are confident Nigeria youth international Kelechi Iheanacho will be issued a work permit.

And the English Premier League moneybags have stressed that the highly rated starlet is part of coach Manuel Pellegrini's plans.

Kelechi Iheanacho is highly regarded by manager Manuel Pellegrini, so much so that he was allowed to train with the Argentina National Team before the friendly with Portugal last month.

“Kelechi Iheanacho has been in England training with the first team of Manchester City,” a source told SL10.ng.

“When Argentina met Portugal in November, the Argentina national team trained with a shadow eleven, not the regulars you see on television, and Iheanacho was among those selected.”

With no caps for the Super Eagles, the 18-year-old's future at the Etihad Stadium is hanging in the balance due to red tape, but the Citizens are hoping to invoke the Premier League special talent clause to complete the transfer.

“We are optimistic that Iheanacho will get a work permit, that is what everyone is looking forward to. He should be able to prove his mettle and break into the first team,” added the source.

“Manuel Pellegrini wants him which is important.

“He has to be considered as a special talent to get a work permit. Man City are not prepared to loan him to another team.

“They don't have a Plan A, B or C for Iheanacho. The club want him.”

Iheanacho, who has been called up to the Nigeria Under 23s, has been linked with New York City and KV Mechelen in the last few months.

NFF Wants Nigerians To Focus On Siasia And U23

Executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Emeka Inyama has urged Nigerians to put behind them the disappointment of not qualifying for the Equatorial Guinea 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, and focus on the national U23 team, The Dream Team.

Inyama believes Nigerians should now focus their attention on the various other national teams that have got upcoming competitions, and not dwell on the disappointment of the Super Eagles’ failure to defend their African crown in Equatorial Guinea.

“I think Nigerians should focus now on the U23, the U20, the U17, and the Falcons because this teams all have very important competitions coming up soon,” Inyama told sl10.ng.

“I understand the disappointment felt with the Super Eagles not qualifying for the AFCON but we should now show support to the other teams.

“The U23 are the closest to the Super Eagles and they are having their screening exercise and I think we should pay more attention to them now, we hope they can build the future Super Eagles for us.”

The Dream Team have been screening home based players in Abuja for over two weeks and coach Samson Siasia recently released a list of 47 overseas based players that are expected to report to the team’s camp, with Manchester City midfielder Kelechi Iheanacho headlining the invitations.

The official invitation of the foreign based players should have arrived at the respective clubs by now. This is to give the clubs chance to prepare for the departure of their players.

Good work so far.
