Step 9. After letting the pot boil for a while, now added the Obgono
Step 10. Then the Okra

And after letting it boil for like 2 minutes my soup was ready.
food is ready, what would I do without my Garri n soup. cool

Thanks for viewing, corrections if necessary on how to make the soup better next time is highly welcomed.
Looks good although I prefer mine with oil floating on top.

Another way I cook mine is that as I am steaming the meat, I pour palm oil in a smaller bowl with lid and pour the grinded ogbono into the oil, cover it and put it inside the pot of boiling meat for it to boil.

I pour the mixture into the meat, add stock fish, pepper, okro, seasonings then ugu.

Maryini,
Hi, I got your PM but I can't reply- don't know if it's my phone. Please reach me on (modified)

@op, where did you get that smoked Tilapia fillet? I've not seen that brand or boneless smoked fish period.
Re: Making Ogbono Soup by Aida13: 4:33pm On Dec 14, 2014
Okro in Ogbono is like the finishing touch grin ohhh my I love the combo. I cut my okra in huge chunks and enjoy them when not too cooked so I put them last of all. I don't fancy meat with my ogbono. Instead, I use an assortment of dried/smoked fish to maintain the local flavor that meat can never provide.

The key is avoiding too much salt, and boiling the seasoning cubes in hot water beforehand, so they don't clump at the bottom of the soup. Also, stir stir stir. You have to stand by the soup and keep stirring, cos that sticking-to-the-bottom stuff is sooo not nice.

This soup is best with poundo yam, eko or semo.

woooww that's exactly how my mom does it so I learned from her. While the meat/panla is boiling, she turns up the lid and places a plate with the ground ogbono and palm oil. The steam from the boiling pot turns the ogbono+oil into a smooth paste. Then you scoop this into the boiling broth and stir while it bubbles to life grin grin I thought we were the only ones who did this lol

I remember the day I first (and last) cooked this soup as a university student... The thing just didn't form a draw soup after all the procedures I followed - it was watery... I just sieved the pot off the meat and fish and threw the soup away. #NoTime
You added onions or tomato? #Curios

Wow . yours is different but nice

this is how I do mine. I boil the titus fish . After the fish I ready, I bleach the palm oil a little. Just for 2srconds then pour the powdered ogbono into the hot oil, add the fish water and then leave it to cook. While it's cooking I dice the fish into it, stirr it and once its ready. That's all
what bout onion? not ok to use in ogbono soup?

Am in Oxford, that's where I got the goat meat. As for the boiling, I had added the ogbono long before adding the Okra which I let to cook for just 2 minutes because I didn't want the Okra getting soft.
