Please what's the most effective way of exorcising autorun malware and virus from a PC?.
There are two in my PC, one changes the folder in any removable media I connect to shortcuts, while the second and worst changes all files in the removable media into 1kb links.
The latter has ruined two of my USB flash drives.
PS: I've scanned it with Avast® but i'm sceptical of it's effectiveness.

One very effective way is to use linux operating system to view the partition on which your windows os is installed and you would be able to see the virus by searching for them and deleting it right there in linux but, that depends on if you can side load linux os together with windows in your pc.

If you can't do this then you would have to use antivirus like smadav or better still click "ctrl" + "alt" + "del" and go to "processes" tab when the task manager appears, then look for unknown processes (this depends on your ability to identify them also! So you won't damage your os) right click and end the processes then unhide your folders and search for the virus and delete every instance of it.

if you can't do these, then you would have to trust that your antivirus scan would fix it. So get an original antivirus to scan your system.

Ok, i've tried to side load linux (ubuntu) once but my pc didnt support it, since i can do that i'll just switch my redundant desktop to linux for this purpose, Thanks.

You don't have to use only linux you can dual boot between linux and windows maybe you didn't do it correctly. Don't switch the desktop to linux I can guide you on side loading the linux with windows on your laptop. When you're ready tell me but you would need some tools like linux (ubuntu) bootable cd and boot repair cd. If you can't burn them on cd you can also burn them on flash drive. Let me know your decision.

I didn't use a bootable media when I tried, instead I used the windows installer for convenience, I'll try the CD now that I actually have a valid reason for installing Linux.

Yes use the CD. Shut down the system and turn it on this time booting from CD. After doing this, let me know so we can progress.

A simple system restart should resolve your problem. If restarting the system is not an option, then you can directly restart the print spooler by doing the following:

Hold the Windows key + R to bring up the Run box. Type services.msc in the search pane and hit enter. In the services window that appears, scroll up and look for Print Spooler, right click on it and click restart.

You have a malfunctioning touchpad bro. Try updating the drivers. If that does not work, simply take it to a computer repair shop and have the touchpad replaced. In the meantime, you can download & install TouchFreeze and that would auto deactivate the touchpad whilst you type.

Try a hard reset: Turn off the laptop, disconnect the AC adapter, remove the battery. Press & hold the power button for about 60 secs. Now connect the AC adapter only, and power on the laptop.

If you can open the laptop, try and clean up dusts and remove and reinsert the touchpad connector. This could fix it.

Where did you keep it before you turned it on and did you install any high graphics consuming application recently prior to that problem?

It was in my laptop bag overnight.. I brought it out the next morning for an assignment then I saw the lines and no I didnt install any high graphics consuming application. I upgraded to 8.1 from windows 8 and it worked well for weeks before this

It would show you the available dates, check if there is any option like "more dates"
