Very true but at the same time Christ never taught that sinners will be subjected to a never ending torture as I have told since I was small.

You clearly have not been reading your bible very well. Jesus Christ indicated that the torture would be everlasting. An example is in mark.

Mar 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

If you read the whole chapter you will deduce that He was describing hell fire as a place of everlasting torture.

Read your bible by yourself with the help of the Holy Spirit. All these websites will just prey on your limited knowledge of the bible to mislead you. They will quote aspects that supports their claim and interpret it wrongly but they wont quote verses in the scripture that goes against their point. Be careful.

Mar 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Nope

Jesus was quoting from Isaiah 66:24 , let's see what it says ;
"And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind."

Digest the bolded statement and meditate on it. The bodies were DEAD BODIES, not LIVE SOULS.

Read your bible by yourself with the help of the Holy Spirit

Another way of saying , don't think just fall in line with the institution of churchianty , lol.

aha, that's a typical one. Only 'us' have the truth and know the truth, don't go elsewhere ooo grin . Do you know this is how the church stifled knowledge and spiritual growth during the medieval times.

No my friend, this is mind control and witchcraft.

If he has the Spirit of Christ he will not be deceived, besides the web site is a Christian web site quoting bible scripture not books from the 6 books of Moses.

Isn't it just convenient to deviate a topic or a debate by picking a verse you choose to argue on. Why don't you simply present pertinent and comprehensive argument rather than throw in a new verse for contention?

Stop spreading your ignorance for the whole world to see, we know you point of view and it has been debunked by even the baby believers on this site, just carry on with your churchianity and let those who want to learn learn.

I've been monitoring your ranting on nairaland and I've realised that your problem is pride. You believe that you know more than every pastor and christian in Nigeria.

You read articles on the internet and believe them whole heartedly but you don't believe some portions of the bible. Don't you know that its people like you and me that put all these articles on the internet. They claim to conduct research but you fail to realise that this events occurred over 2 thousand years ago. Any research you do will at most be inconclusive because of lack of complete evidence. That's why different researchers have made different conclusions on the same topic. Most of this websites even copy themselves and just do minor modifications.

Another problem you have is that you don't conduct a balanced research. Try to always check the opinions of christian apologetics on any issues before drawing your conclusions. Most of the issues you have against the bible and christians have been fully explained on christian apologists' websites.

You choose to believe this websites more than the bible which is the Word of God. Your faith in what you see in these websites amazes me.

All you need to know is already in the bible stop doing unnecessary research. Read the bible with the help of the Holy Spirit and you will realize that the bible is complete. God bless you.

Have you seen a dead body. What happens to it is that there will definitely be worm all over it. The fire of hell is forever does not mean sinners are conscious in it. It only means that the fire keep burning. Please let's not say what the bible did not say because you want to prove a point.
The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. The sinners receive the opposite of what the righteous will receive and that is death.

It is those who lived in the asylum that can tell madness when they see it.

I think people like me and tens of thousands of our ilk , who have spent their lives serving a LIE have suddenly come back to our senses and gone a counter mission to expose this LIE to all and sundry , hoping that some may also be freed.

It's not pride.

And by the way , a Pastor is not the authority on scripture and neither am I , the Spirit of truth is. A Pastor in times of antiquity was simply a care taker or shepherd, not a replacement for independent bible study by believers.

You read articles on the internet and believe them whole heartedly but you don't believe some portions of the bible. The bible says we should test all things and hold onto that which is true. I can assuredly tell you that in my research for truth and quest for knowledge, everything is tested and tested very thoroughly.

The following verse of scripture was meant for the believer , not the pastor ;
"But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;" - 1 Thessalonians 5:21

Another problem you have is that you don't conduct a balanced research. Try to always check the opinions of Christian apologetics on any issues before drawing your conclusions. Most of the issues you have against the bible and Christians have been fully explained on Christian apologists' websites.

I was once a Christian apologist and have done my due diligence on many of their web sites/books/articles, indeed I was once on the side of the majority point of view. So your statement that I am not balanced is quite wrong to be honest.

So you mean that Jesus Christ was saying that the fire that will burn their dead bodies will not be quenched? Really? Please read the whole chapter.

This is a simple statement made by Jesus in Mathew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather be afraid of God, who can destroy both body and soul in hell.

From the scripture it is obvious that Gods plan is to destroy the sinners body and soul in hell. No mention was made of never ending torturous conscious existence.

Read the whole chapter 9 of mark and tell me how your explanation correlates with what Jesus Christ was saying.

Okay let me engage you a wee bit.

"43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. [44] 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. [46] [c] 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell," - Mark 9.

Context ;
1. You cannot pick and choose what part of this scripture is to be taken literally and which to take metaphorically.
2. We have to assume that Jesus meant exactly what he said to the letter.
3. Hell here is translated γέενναν Greek or geennan English.
4. geennan was a garbage dump outside Jerusalem where rubbish and corpses were burnt - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gehenna
5. If we believe that Hell is literal then we should also cut of our eyes if we lust, cut of our hands if we steal ( oh how Sharia preachers will love this ) , cut of our feet if we venture on the path of sin etc etc.
6. We also know Jesus quoted this verse from Isaiah 66:24 where it clearly qualifies the bodies as DEAD. To suggest any alternative interpretation is to become a scripture twister and interpolater par excellence.

Conclusions :

1. This scripture is referring to the destruction of sinners not their eternal torment.
2. With one exception , when Hell is used to replace the exact word of Jesus, it is always translated to geennan and not to Hades which was mentioned once in the Parable of the rich man and Lazarus.
3. This scripture ties in with Revelation 20:14 where the rebellious are finally destroyed in the second death. Hades itself ( common grave |) is also thrown into geennan.

Are you also denying the obvious like 'god' frosbel? We have so many description of hell and absolutely nothing makes it seem like a tolerable place rather it is commonly painted as a place of anguish, hopelessness and punishment.

2 Thess 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Jude 1313 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

This the scripture you quote from mark 9:42-48

42“If anyone should cause one of these little ones to lose his faith in me, it would be better for that person to have a large millstone tied round his neck and be thrown into the sea. 43So if your hand makes you lose your faith, cut it off! It is better for you to enter life without a hand than to keep both hands and go off to hell, to the fire that never goes out. 45And if your foot makes you lose your faith, cut it off! It is better for you to enter life without a foot than to keep both feet and be thrown into hell. 47And if your eye makes you lose your faith, take it out! It is better for you to enter the Kingdom of God with only one eye than to keep both eyes and be thrown into hell.48There ‘the worms that eat them never die, and the fire that burns them is never put out.’

Please where did Jesus suggest the people will be alive in hell in the whole the above passage.
He is describing hell and what it is like. He never described the experience of people there and therefore it is safe if you can take time and read other statement made by Jesus as regards to the fate of sinners. Leave what you have been told for awhile and read the whole statement of Jesus on punishment and reward of sinners.
Let's not say what the bible did not say.

Yes...It is literal. If you can cut your feet or eye to avoid hell, go ahead and do so.

Jesus knew you better, you won't do that. Isn't that why He became the carrier of your burden by absorbing His father's divine wrath on the cross?

Ok, apparently, Mark 9 suggests that those who are beheaded in this life will show in the other life headless, and carrying their heads in their hands.

..and yes, it also suggests that such a state of handicap will be eternally permanent too
..abi?

Guy, find another verse to support hell talk. This one no work oooo

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I will speak two languages to help you a little ;

1. English - Destruction ;
the action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired.

2. Greek - Destruction ;
Original Word: ὄλεθρος, ου, ὁ
Short Definition: ruin, doom, destruction
Definition: ruin, doom, destruction, death.

I am very confident that the bible scholars who translated the bible would have used another English word instead of destruction if it was not a complete process.

Please : Stop insulting the English Language to support your fallacy.

Thanks.

The conclusion of the matter is that Revelation 20:10 never said Satan and the false prophets would be annihilated and destroyed thus becoming extint. It said their torment will be day and night for ever and ever. It is simple to read and comprehend really. Why are you forcing your opinion into God's word. You can ask God if you see Him why He should torment d devil and his disciples day and night abi?

Bro, don't be quick to reply or defend your argument.

They gave the verses where the Word was used in specific context.

Destruction as used in Jude 11 clearly states that it isn't a one time destruction but a loss of well being.

A God forsaken place, a place of abandonment by the creator, a place of loneliness.
