Why would you compare Nigeria to US? US is a developed country with taxpayers money workin 24/7, and most citizens can do without petrol for long period of time. Basically in US, if u dnt av a car, den deres no reason for buyin fuel. You are not fueling generator which most households kn Nigeria does... As a company u reason less about fuel.. Cos deres 24/7 electricity. The transportation is not a problem, neither light is a problem... If dats wats goin on in Nigeria, one will feel bad a little for petrol rising to 150. In conclusion, u cant compare sleep to death my friends |

How stupid this people are, how can you compare US fuel pump price with ours, when we are producing country while US buys from OPEC after which they stopped buying from Nigeria. |

saintkash:In the USA supply and demand determines the final price. In our blessed Nigeria, the price is fixed by the government and not by economic laws. if the government decides to subsidize PMS to the amount you quoted above, we would be in even worse condition than we are presently. (We made a budget with oil at 75 dollars a barrel; now oil is way below 50 dollars a barrel, where do you think they will manufacture money to continue subsidizing this commodity and yet continue running the government? I still maintain that subsidy should be abolished. When it is, local refineries will spring, buy crude oil at competitive rates, refine and sell at even lower prices. Not to mention the jobs they will create during their construction and subsequent operation. win win situation for all. |

bishopclin: I have issues with your thinking faculty. it is like your wisdom pipe is blocked. if you are reasonable as you think you are, why must you write about bishopclin: We have oil in abundance in this country, we used to have working refineries, why are they not working if J.onadaft is a visionary leader. Did we import oil into the country when Buhari was in power? why do we have to import when we have the capital to invest in oil production and we have youths with enough manpower to ensure the running of the facilities. What we youths are fighting and your blocked views can not perceive is that our leaders are corrupt and they benefit largely from importation of refined crude oil. That is why bunkering cannot stop in the niger delta because the leaders are the ones supporting them. Brother or who you may be, think very deep. If you were born in the early 70's or late 60's and you know where Nigeria was then, you will prefer we go back and start from there. Please, always weigh your thoughts before you pour rubbish here. |

bishopclin: Thank God you said $8/hr that means if one works for the same 1 month= 18000 naira in nigeria you'll have $8 * 8hrs=$64/day *30= $1920.... Convert that to naira you'll have 1920 *lets say $1=180naira that is 1920 x 180= 345600 naira/month........ Bros abeg tell me how I go dey collect this kind amount monthly and I go come dey complain to buy fuel for that amount for USA |

Keegan:Who's pro Jonathan? I'm just trying to be objective. If we'd allowed the government continue with the deregulation of the downstream sector of the oil industry in 2012, we'd be enjoying N50 or even N40 fuel now. 3years on and we still don't have functional refineries, petrol is still expensive at N87 (when the rest of the world is enjoying cheaper fuel) and there's still subsidy corruption. So with the benefit of hindsight, who was right and who was wrong? |

bishopclin:so if I worked for just 5 hours (9am-2pm) in a day that translate to $40 a day based on the $8/hr rate. We shouldnt forget dat Nigerians work abt 8hrs(9am-5pm) a day minimum. Now should I work 20 days a month that's $800 minimum @#185 exchange rate will make #148,000. When Nigeria's minimum wage is even yet to be fixed at #18,000. I have nothing to say o. Nigerians don enter one chance. |
CHRISTALLITE: Dollar increases in value not only to naira but also in kinda similar or rather close to Euro€; Definitely since there is increase in Dollar value;the price of World petrol would automatically fall but could remain constant or higher compare to some currency of which naira is! D question to be asked is how creative has our government been to reduce the pump price by#10? It should have risen higher since Dollar is now more expensive to naira! However;I wonder why most people claims its all propangada;if called so?Be it!Its all improvement! Meanwhile,I need ask why most people seems to the word cluelessness as an everyday song on no ground!Prove it wrong by highlighting areas of cluelessness of d present government! And hesistate not to account for just 40% probability of ur harden sentimental acclaim opposition to fix the economy fairer! Am tired of coming here everyday and seeing people just shouting change without feasibility view of how it could have been better! Imagine someone shouting the price should have been #15!Is only Fuel Usage d sector of infracture or advancement?More amenities need be provide!
The government is so confused so as you are! Reason. When the crude oil was being sold at around $109ppb, the government deemed it fit to increase the pump price from #65 to #97 but meanwhile, this is the period we generate more income the he budget is well subsidized thus the pump price ought to be slashed since we are one of the major producing state but instead it skyrocket. Now that the ppb is $45 he reduces it with #10, the amount which has no impact, whereas it ought to have been incresed has you've rightly said but he dares not! |

saxywale: And you expect a 500 billion dollar economy to pay the same minimum wage with a 15trillion dollar economy. oil price is governed by external forces of demand and supply which behoves on Nigeria act accordingly. Just because you earn low as a result of your country output does not make it right for you to get oil cheaper than the USA or where you expecting govt to subsidize all that too. |
