Why would you compare Nigeria to US? US is a developed country with taxpayers money workin 24/7, and most citizens can do without petrol for long period of time. Basically in US, if u dnt av a car, den deres no reason for buyin fuel. You are not fueling generator which most households kn Nigeria does... As a company u reason less about fuel.. Cos deres 24/7 electricity. The transportation is not a problem, neither light is a problem... If dats wats goin on in Nigeria, one will feel bad a little for petrol rising to 150. In conclusion, u cant compare sleep to death my friends

This is one fact some idio.t like OP fails to put into consideration before spewing rubbish.

How stupid this people are, how can you compare US fuel pump price with ours, when we are producing country while US buys from OPEC after which they stopped buying from Nigeria.

Price per barrel of crude oil a year ago
[January, 2014] was $97.92/barrel
worldwide. It is now $46.97/barrel.... Gas/
petrol was $3.28/gallon a year ago in the
U.S. It is now $1.89/gallon because of
demand & supply that controls the price. I
just bought a gallon of petrol/gas from
Costco at $1.89 cents/gallon today and since
1 gallon equals 3.78 liters, that equals to 50
cents per liter here in the U.S. That is
#92.50kobo per liter @ the exchange rate of
$1= #185naira ..... Per Capita Income in the
U.S. is $53,042 while per capita income in
Nigeria is $3,006 source: World Bank. That
means Nigeria is currently[until the so called
midnight] paying more at #97/liter than in
the U.S. at #92.50/liter. Nigerians should be
paying #5.24kobo per liter based on the per
capita income differential. Otherwise, the
result is still ABJECT POVERTY! Hit 'Like' if
you are not better off than you were 4 years
ago.
In the USA supply and demand determines the final price. In our blessed Nigeria, the price is fixed by the government and not by economic laws. if the government decides to subsidize PMS to the amount you quoted above, we would be in even worse condition than we are presently. (We made a budget with oil at 75 dollars a barrel; now oil is way below 50 dollars a barrel, where do you think they will manufacture money to continue subsidizing this commodity and yet continue running the government? I still maintain that subsidy should be abolished. When it is, local refineries will spring, buy crude oil at competitive rates, refine and sell at even lower prices. Not to mention the jobs they will create during their construction and subsequent operation. win win situation for all.

I wonder why we have some youths of our country who can not make use of their brains to ponder on issues that would further enrich the country. Present day youths are being tossed around by the older ones and sometimes, by illiterates. ‎

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, after taking into consideration, landing costs and other expenses, it is N85/ltr for the same litre of gasoline yet people are ignorantly ranting on social media and elsewhere. "Meanwhile, in Nigeria, after taking into consideration, landing costs and other expenses" .

We have oil in abundance in this country, we used to have working refineries, why are they not working if J.onadaft is a visionary leader. Did we import oil into the country when Buhari was in power? why do we have to import when we have the capital to invest in oil production and we have youths with enough manpower to ensure the running of the facilities.

What we youths are fighting and your blocked views can not perceive is that our leaders are corrupt and they benefit largely from importation of refined crude oil. That is why bunkering cannot stop in the niger delta because the leaders are the ones supporting them.

Brother or who you may be, think very deep. If you were born in the early 70's or late 60's and you know where Nigeria was then, you will prefer we go back and start from there. Please, always weigh your thoughts before you pour rubbish here.

Did you clamour for a price increase when the price of oil skyrocketed?[/quote/]

No, I did'nt. The reason is, for every increase in price of fuel per barrel, there has to be corresponding increase in the income of d people.

Fuel is a determinant commodity in Nigeria economy. We buy Petrol for Generators and Cars, Kerosene for Stoves.

The President should think more about the standard of living of his people.

Nigeria is 5th in crude oil production. Was d increase in the price of crude oil then not meant to be at our advantage? @verygudbadguy

Using your theory does a decrease in price not correspond to a decrease in "income" of the government?

Is the decrease in oil price not to our disadvantage? Since it our major revenue earner the government has less money to spend.

What you should be asdking for is full deregulation which the government has been advocating and the masses have been rejecting.

With that the prices will correspond to international prices.

You are correct. It is a decrease in income for govt. Thats why we need to diversify the economy before its too late. Our economy shouldn't be reliant on Crude alone, there are other opportunities waiting to be explored.

Already, the money we realized as excess on crude oil price are being squandered on campaign and re-election. What's gonna happen if we deregulate totally?

Convert that to naira you'll have 1920 *lets say $1=180naira that is 1920 x 180= 345600 naira/month........ Who's pro Jonathan? I'm just trying to be objective. If we'd allowed the government continue with the deregulation of the downstream sector of the oil industry in 2012, we'd be enjoying N50 or even N40 fuel now. 3years on and we still don't have functional refineries, petrol is still expensive at N87 (when the rest of the world is enjoying cheaper fuel) and there's still subsidy corruption. So with the benefit of hindsight, who was right and who was wrong?

When the crude oil was being sold at around $109ppb, the government deemed it fit to increase the pump price from #65 to #97 but meanwhile, this is the period we generate more income the he budget is well subsidized thus the pump price ought to be slashed since we are one of the major producing state but instead it skyrocket.
