It's good to be back again to this wonderful thread. It's a pity some of the useful information that I posted on the thread vanished due to the website attack. However I am sure we will recover fully. Thumps up everyone.

How to a Excel at an Uninspiring Job

I have been a graduate for roughly about three years,in that time i have worked in two different places (presently in my second appointment) , I spent a little over a year “learning the ropes” in an entry-level position at a quiet TV station in my state capital.

It was a struggle to feel like the engineer i had dreamt about becoming when i graduate from the university. The job, though technical to a certain degree was monotonous and uninspiring and the environment was a little slow for a fresh graduate, and an able bodied young man.

1. Treat Yourself Like a Professional
2. Find Opportunity in the Little Things
3. Volunteer Your Talents
4. Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

Kudos to all* please advise: i did ART in my secondary school, but currently i'm studying business administration in polytechnic ND1, i wish to write another jamb this year my question is: 1.should i wait for direct entry or register for jamb 2.which course is better between business administration and english in labour market to quickly get job an well pay..tnx

Hi,

Taking a cursory look at your question, the first thing that is clearly evident is that you don't know what you want. Please, don't take this as an offence at all. I am not blaming you either as your choices could have been dictated to you.

When you enrolled in the art department in your secondary school, what did you have in mind to study in the tertiary institution? Did you join the arts because you had friends there or were you obeying the orders of your guardian/parents? Why are you studying business administration now? Is it what you want you want to study or what you were ordered to study?

A whole lot of issues need clarification here. The major question is - WHAT DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE WIRED FOR?

I also had challenges like you but as it is presently after graduating from the university and having gone for my national youth service, I am currently enrolled in a professional music college studying MUSIC - my first and original desire. I abandoned the pressure to get a good paying job and settle down to grab the opportunity of studying what I had wanted to study 18 years ago. Life is more than money. Money is very important but the joy and happiness that fills my heart whenever I'm in the music college knows no bounds - such, no money can buy.

From your question, you are also asking for a better course between Business Administration and English so that you can know the one which guarantees a secured future. Listen, none of them guarantees a great future. What guarantees a great future is your knowledge of God and you functioning where He desires you to function.

You really need to sit down and examine your life to know what you are wired for.

I will also humbly advice you finish this ND programme you have already started.

You can then conduct an evaluation and know where next to go.

Thanks.

Hi,

Point of correction again please, stop abbreviating your words. WRITE IN FULL - IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

Back again to your response, I still reiterate that you need to sit down after your ND programme to know what you really want in life.

You are the only one that can determine what you want. Even if you study a language course (if that is what you desire), you can make it in life.

I have a friend who enrolled for PDS (Pre-Degree Science) in LASU. Upon completion of his pre-degree programme, he was offered admission to study PHE (Physical & Health Education). He was downcast and demoralized. After series of encouragement to go ahead and do the first year, he suddenly discovered he had an innate passion for the course. He further developed himself so much that before he concluded his programme, he was already a fitness trainer for some clients he met online and making cool money in the process.

He later veered into ICT/Telecoms Engineering professionally and he's making his cool cash now, married and doing well by God's Grace.

It all boils down to what you are wired for.

Xfire, darellrivers, please your contributions are needed here.

Around this time last year, I checked the career section of nairaland and saw a thread captioned "ACHIEVING THE DREAM CAREER... etc", created by someone with the moniker 'xfire'. I decided to check out the thread and ended up becoming a disciple.

Since then, this thread has uplifted many, revived hopes and illuminated career paths. Even the nairaland '9/11' could not stop the movement - I felt it was over and I made a comment that reflected same when nairaland recovered and comments on this thread stalled. I remember thanking xfire and other contributors, and encouraging others who have surmounted obstacles to attain a noble goal to emulate his (xfire's) laudable desire to inspire others with his story, and finishing off with the statement that this thread has fulfilled its purpose and, thus, is entitled to a well deserved rest. But then the mission was not over. The thread healed like a wounded vampire and bounced back to life. Looking back, I am glad I was wrong.

To all the contributors, more grace upon you I pray. Darellrivers, [/i]you go marry better husband, I swear.[/i] To all who aspire to some noble attainment in any sphere of endeavour, I pronounce favour. Xfire, you thought you created a thread to share your testimony and by so doing encourage others... No bro: when you created this thread, you shone a bright light down a dark alley and put a sturdy ladder down a bleak well.

Happy one year anniversary to this resourceful thread!
Happy 2015 everyone!

Lol. Please don't mind me. But in the spirit of the new year, let me include more variables: If u are married, the man is a lucky man and u must born better pikin, I swear. If u don born pikin/pikins, then they are lucky to have u as a mom and they must make u proud, I swear. If they don reach to marry, they must marry better husband/wife, I swear. If they don marry... they must born better pikin, I swear. If they don born.... Wait o... I don dey get carried away grin

How do a person resign from a work that won't cause dis likeness?
Is it by resigning after the monthly payment or before the monthly payment?
