@Uchetobi,

My wife is in oakbend now. When did you get the freebies, was it before or after birth?

Am also curious of the pedatrician charges?whether it covers initail baby vacination and what are after discharge consultations with pedatrican etc Sent you a PM

when she is going to the hospital all she needs to take is what she and the baby will wear back home, so while you are there, they will bring clothes, wipes, diapers, blanket for the baby, maternity pads, etc for the mom sowhen you are leaving the hospital, they will tell you to take what is left in you and your baby's tray.

the only thing they brought separately was the customized oakbend blanket, the engraved spoon and the diapers when i was leaving. ,

the hospital charge covers the initial vaccination given at birth, all others were done in naija. discharge consultation i used an external pediatrician, they will give you a booklet with names and address of pediatricians, you can call the one closest to you or the cheapest if thats what you want

Thanks. I appreciate Chloe. Yea, I know California is very expensive but it's definitely not easy to birth where you don't have family support esp a caesarean delivery. I've been through it before now. I want to leave my options open & do a wide research. Someone had a baby in San Jose, Cali. Bill was fair. I believe they'll be something like that around the Bay area.

it was vaginal without complications, she had a baby boy, you know California is probably the most expensive state in the u.s if i'm not mistaken, my sister was going to birth in cedars sinai in California before I discovered this thread announced the bill cedars sent was about $28k all in all. As for me i'll rather go somewhere really affordable like ATL or PHX or TX than to go where I have family and i'll pay through my nose. I'll send you her hospital details, i've asked her for a comprehensive breakdown

There's a place on the form DS 160 to state if you have kids & their nationality. That is where your Americana baby comes in. I renewed last year with drop box, visa was out within 1 week. No interview. I didnt inform them I was using the previous visa for childbirth tho but I had been to the US severally before then on vacation. All the best.

God bless you Freddy27. I feel like hugging you right now. But my concern is this, is there any place on the form where i can say i want to have another baby there? And also state that i had a baby there and i paid all my bills. I just dont want it to be like I didnt state it. Although when i got my previous visa, i wasnt pregnant even though i mailed the embassy when i took in and decided to go. So im just worried about how to show i had the baby and paid all bills. Did you have to do that? Or they just renewed without issues?

Hi dear, I used the dropbox for renewal as well. Fill the ds 160 form, print ur confirmation, pay your visa fees, go to dat 'schedule appointment page', a series of questions will follow. After answering them for eligibility, a dropbox confirmation letter will appear. Print the letter + ur payment receipt + ds 160 confirmation + 2 passport photos + intl passport and take to DHL. No additional document is accepted. 8000 naira to submit and return ur passport.

Jehova!!! 8000 wetin? Dem no collect 1 kobo from me o @ DHL to submit and return passport. Same with my husband and little one, or did I read wrong? Confused ...

Don't have access to my email sorry

Total cost, can't remember. But it was about $6,500. I gave a detailed breakdown in April, guess the tsunami wiped it off but dr fagbohouns pdf is a very Gd indicator, my baby had jaundice so it also increased my ped fee to $606, that I remember. Dr's fee was exactly what he stated in his pdf, hospital was 2150, epidural 850, blood works was lesser than he estimated.

I declined the hearing test

Nope I dint pre-register, showed up at the hospital for the first time when I fell into labor,

I got all my baby's document in two wks, after birth. once the birth certificate came out in 4 days or so, I got the intl passport by going downtown (picked it up the next day as I paid for expedited , sent to Atlanta to the agent the day after I got it, although I dint pay for expedited I got it back within two days

Pls which bloodwork are you referring to? Is it the ones you do before delivery or will one have to run another bloodwork during delivery or after. I'm sorry if my question sounds somehow. I just want to understand if I will have to run another bloodwork when I get to the hospital on the day of delivery or after delivery

Hey people,

Had my baby boy Thursday night at Methodist Houston Sugar Land, Thursday evening, discharged Saturday morning, Mummy, LO and Daddy are doing great! Overall experience was fantastic, nurses tripping over themselves to help you, etc, etc.

Also Dr. Duc Le was great too.

Shout out to everyone that contributed to this thread, extremely tired out from baby duty so I wont call names for fear of offending anyone smiley

LOL at freebies, Freebies were not fantastic here o, just formula (which I don't want to use)

Will give feedback when I get my final bill (if any sef because I had pre paid for everything, and had no complications).

To everyone that is bored in America, put up your feet even more, cuz once the baby comes, end of honeymoon period...

@ anonymousmum, Congrats, pls I wld like to know how much you prepaid for every thing. Tnx.

Hospital - Houston Methodist Hospital Sugar Land - Normal Vaginal Delivery $2,536 for 48 hours stay. If its Normal C/S I think its $3,500 or so.

Anesthesia (optional for vaginal delivery, but required for C/S) - $1,500

Dr Fee - Dr. Le - Vaginal Delivery $2,500, includes all Ultrasounds, all prenatal visits, and one post natal visit. He accepted all my tests from Nigeria. If you register later, maybe 37 weeks I think they give some discount, I registered at 34 weeks tho.

Total Prepaid is $6,536.

Additional Fees not yet prepaid:

Paediatrician: (Dr. Sung) -She came to see the baby after delivery, and baby will see her in 2 weeks time. I have not paid this though, but total is to come to about $300 or so.

Circumsition
The Doctor also performs circumcision for additional $200, in his clinic. If u do the circumcision at the hospital they will charge about $800.

Pathology

At the hospital when I came in to deliver, they took blood samples from me, I asked them how much it would cost, because they did not tell me before, the nurse said its part of the package. I'm just waiting to see what will come out of this.

Hospital said final statement will be sent to me in about 7 days so I am hopeful that there will be no surprises...

Good day everyone,
Please for the mums using Dr Fagbohun, on which of his fees does the 20% discount apply when full payment is made? Is it on his total fees (circumcision included? Or is it only on the delivery fee of $2400 alone? Also does he accept Naija test results and how much is standard pediatrician fees? Help a sister out. Thanks.
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Newmum0615: 10:42am On Jan 25, 2015
Hello @uchetobi, please what are the charges for pediatrician? I called the hospital and they told me that it is already included in the hospital fees if your baby is fine and does not require any further attention. Is it true please? Cos the quote they gave me contains one NICS fees like that and it is meant for well baby.
uchetobi:

its already factored into the bill (i think), cuz its not like naija where you pack baby bag,
