Why I Will Vote for GEJ by Nobody: 2:32am On Jan 27, 2015
This thread is open for supporters of GEJ to state the precise reasons why they'll vote for GEJ in the forthcoming presidential elections.

Armed with my PVC, below are the reasons why GEJ is my preferred presidential candidate.

1. For the consolidation of our democracy. It is an undeniable fact that under the watch of GEJ, Nigeria democracy has grown from a near one party state to a two major political parties state, just like the US. The opposition parties (APC, APGA, CPC, ACN, labour party, accord, etc)have won more elections under GEJ than at any other time in the history of Nigeria. This is actually good for our democracy because it will allow for checks and balances and more competition in the long run.

2. For the regime of free and fair election to be continued and consolidated in my country. For me, the greatest corruption is rigging and stealing of electoral mandate. GEJ has restored sanity to our electoral system so much so that the chorus amongst politicians these days is that their supporters should arm themselves with PVC for the election day. Therefore, my dear country has joined the league of advanced democracies where the voters card is a potent weapon. It was not so before. Before, in this same country, the voters card was useless. Before now, results of elections were written before election day.

3. For the free and vibrant press that we currently enjoy to continue

4. For work on the Second Niger Bridge to continue and be completed. Whether the enemies of progress like it or not, whereas in the last 30 years NOTHING was done about that very important bridge, in the last 4 years (2011 to 2015) and under the regime of GEJ, work has started on the Second Niger and very importantly, PROGRESS has been made. From nothing, the bridge was designed, contract awarded to a reputable construction giant (Julius Berger), preliminary works was started and completed, compensation that amounted to over #1 billion was paid to those with properties in the right of way and real construction work commenced on site. When you move from nothing to do all of that in 4 years, that is my definition of PROGRESS. I will vote for that progress to continue.

5.For ongoing works on various federal highways, especially those in the southeast to be continued and completed. Especially, the Enugu-Onitsha, Enugu-PH, Benin-Ore and Lagos-Ibadan roads. Except for maybe Gowon, I don't think any other past govt can match the record of GEJ in the road sector in the last 4 years. And the quality of work has been great. I will vote for that to continue.

6. For the reforms and revival of the railways to continue. The achievements of this govt in the railway sector has been impressive. The govt is not only restoring the narrow gauge lines that was allowed to rot away by past govt, they are also building brand new standard railways and the Abuja light rail. I will vote for that to continue.

7. Under this govt, we have seen very innovative policies and programmes that work on ground (not paper), such as YOUWIN, SURE-P, e-wallet for farmers, etc. I will vote for continuity of govt programmes that have been tested and trusted.

8. I will vote for the ongoing revolution in the agriculture sector to continue.

9. This govt has insisted that even in the area of corruption, PREVENTION is better than cure. Because I believe prevention is better than cure and that Buhari with his gang of thieves will not do better, I will vote for continuity. In any case, the Buhari approach failed in 1983 so let's try something else.

10. I will vote for continuity of the reforms in the power sector. The last thing that is needed in that sector now is policy somersault.

11. In the last 4 years, the federal govt, working with the state govt and the people have given relative peace to my state. I vote for that peace to continue.

12. Because I believe Nigeria is in need of urgent restructuring, I will vote for the implementation of the resolutions of the last national conference, even though the restructuring proposed were not far reaching enough. Most of the problems we complain of in Nigeria today are structural problems which can only be solved by restructuring the country.

13. Because Nigeria is considered by some as a turn-by-turn enterprise, I will vote for other parts of the country to also have a taste of the FULL dose of the pie, especially as the best Buhari can achieve if elected is to match the record of GEJ in the last 4 years. Buhari can take the turn of the north in 2019.

I'll vote GEJ because I have very high self-esteem and i do not hold him responsible for my personal problems...unlike Buhari fans.

GEJ is doing a great job. Crude oil prices slumped, Naira has been devalued for months now, yet inflation has not reached the roof unlike what's happening to Russia now.
In Nigeria, the things you bought at N100 when Naira was N160 to $, still cost N100 (or even less) now that it's N200 to $.

Someone is managing our economy very well.

I'm voting him cos of three(3) major reasons.
1. the agricultural reforms. Never in our history has it been dis gud.
2. The trains are back. Yipeeeee.
3. The roads are too smooth to ride on. Benin-Ore road, East-West road comes to mind.

Sai GEJ2011--2019.

I will vote out GEJ for

1. Economic policies
2. Continuous ignoring of Lagos-Abeokuta expressway, Old ife roag, Ilesha road etc. Slow pace of Apapa expressway, Ibadan road etc
3. Despite the huge amount spent on power supply, we are still stuck with -4000MW
4. The Chibok girls
5. His administration's handling of Security
6. A huge corrupt government
7. His policy on corruption
8. Cosmetic agricultural policy. Price has not fallen yet
9. Refineries not working
10. No economic policies
11. Depletion of our foreign reserves despite the fact that his administration was there when oil was at its highest
12. His own aides turning tribes and religion against one another
13. Fuel prices. Including petrol and diesel
14. His sending military men to seize news papers from the stands and arrest editors because the need did not favor him
15. The numerous strikes
16. Delegating so many private jets to the presidency despite the huge poverty
17. The abandonment of the Bama people when they needed him most
18. The state of our airports despite billions ploughed into them
19. Our failing international reputation
20. Priorities are Bullcrap. He did not meet his security chiefs when Boko haram attacked villages but met when Tambuwal defected.
21. The lies
22. Cases of corruption dropped against FFK and pardon to Alarms

Agriculture reforms should not be about falling prices, rather it should be about reducing import bills, empowering your farmers and thereby reducing poverty and stability in food prices. All that GEJ was able to achieve in the last 4 years.

Most of the other things on your list are neither here nor there.

Of what impact is an agricultural policy if it does not increase output and thereby reducing the prices of the output whilst the farmers also make their own profit?

There is no stability in prices. Food prices are not stable, they are going up.

You would not touch the others na. Those are valid reasons you people love to close your eyes to and blind us. Point to one that is not true. These are the reasons a lot of people are not going to vote GEJ.

I find it absurd that people will praise their leaders for giving free and fair elections. That is like praising a student for not cheating in his exam. It is our right. No one should claim credit for that

Notice how Jonathanians never mention health, security and corruption issues.

Ironic to mention peace of mind in his own state but omitted the peace and tranquility of other Nigerians. Shows how much Jonathan supporters care, as long as they are enjoying the largese of the government and untouched by insecurity.

Like said... Some people are already made up to vote Jo even if he cannot take them to the moon, now there's a choice you cannot take from them.

With my PVC i will vote GEJ in simply to keep Buhari out because we don't have Fashola or a younger intellectual on the APC ticket, besides, GEJ has done wonderfully well stabilizing our economy despite massive economic slump in the world and africa. The roads are a wonder and smooth thus we have ease of transport of goods and srevices let us forget that of railway ,Second Niger bridge,Benue bridge etcfor another topic..Power supply has been very much improved these past few years infact as of last week we had 100 hours of interrupted powersupply now input these to the massive agricultural,Industrial and automotive reforms plus the rich human resources then we are looking at the start of a golden age for Nigeria despite harsh economic reverses around the globe...it is like GEJ put Nigeria in an insulated bubble free from global economic woes.
