This man is sick in the head how can a country generating over 40,000mw with a population less than 60m be looking up to a country generating 3,000mw with a population of 170m. If you want to make GEJ government look good please stay within the confines of reasonable lies

I wonder o, is 3000MW > 45000MW. anyway since it's Nigeria where 16 > 19 it's not surprising he can boldly make such a statement. Even with our oil money SA beat us in many area and imagine 1 rand =~ 12 - 14 naira.

Who told u they ve not studied the blueprint of the Nigerian power sector reforms before taking that decision?
Our problems in this nation is lack of patience.

This power sector has being down for so long but the privatization thing is still very young at least, with a little time things ll take the expected outcome but Nigerians(opposition more especially) ll never give kudos to who is deserving of it especially to GEJ.

The south Africans appreciate workable solution which the GEJ government has put in place & since the ve study the good works, they knew it is worthy of emulation & y not....
It is often said that a Prophet is not recognized @ his immediate domain so i' m not surprised.. BUT WHAT I KNOW IS "SAI

In as much as I agree with ur point but how well have we done with the privatisation?...We are still experiencing same thing, bills has been raised and yet no light..If it is workable that is still yet to been seen..My take, u only copy a success story and from the look of things the privatisation of the power sector in Nigeria is yet to be a success..

God Bless Nigeria

Good you aren't a failed individual thus easily cowed with Minister Mohammed Wakil wishful thinking that SA power generation and supply is that bad that it would copy Nigeria's "success story" in its "power sector reform model".
I was in SA for 2 weeks recently and power supply was not disrupted for even a minute.I am not saying they are not without their own flaws but their government seems more sincere in delivering true dividend of democracy to its citizenry .
Nigerian leaders should talk less and allow their good deeds do the talking for them.
Be frank, has the whole power sector privatization process truly transcend to stable power supply?? ?

Don't mind that criminal! Anybody that can publicly tell this kind of lie is nothing but a criminal.
But then this govt has never strayed far from lies. When you listen to GEJ and his ministers especially Adesina and Ngozi, you need to pinch yourself to check whether you are still alive in Nigeria!

Soon they will claim that US is looking up to Nigeria in running their railways!

It is quite shameful reading the response of some of our youths on this issue. I really do not understand how some of you make it to the other side of the road on daily basis. The report stated clearly that SA wants to adopt the Nigeria model -privatization of its power sector. Which is an indication that given the current situation on ground privatization is the best way to get us out of this rot.
After all we have been having problem with our power sector before opting for privatization.

Meanwhile who see my Nneka123?

My problem with the youth of Nigeria is that they dont read; even if they do they do not comprehend. Do they teach reading and comprehension in primary schools these days?? Look at what the minister of state said, and read what this dunce wrote insulting the minister. "Minister of State for Power, Mohammed Wakil, has said Nigeria was now a power sector reform model to the South African government, saying that country now emulates Nigeria’s power sector privatisation model for the transformation of its ailing energy sector".
They may pass us in power generation; but due to their recent power problems they think our model of solving the problems of power is worth emulating. Yes they look up to us in terms of the model we used/trying to use to solve the problems i.e. breaking the PHCN into GENCOs and DISCOs.

You need to ask some of your southie friends on Nairaland what they have been experiencing under SA power giant Eskom to know that you are not alone. Even 'advanced' South Africa is facing power rationing crisis......I think Africans are just waking up to the situation at hand, the population is rising at a dramatic rate thus suffocating the dilapidated infrastructures in place. This is a revolution by NIgeria as the state can not monopolize a huge and capital intensive service sector......

You'll feel the effect of the reform with time, it is not a rapid affair just as the telecommunication reform that you are enjoying today wasn't a day success......

Kikikkkikkki, I laugh in Sesotho! South Africa imitating Nigeria on power model? Are you guys smoking your socks?

In anyway, when has privatisation become Nigeria designed model? By the way even if Eskom could be broke as hell, our power stability Will stay way above Nigeria's power supply. At its worst we get two hours cut in a week of power supply so far. Now copy that!

I don't live in 9ja but I am a 9ja blue blood. I have been to all part of Nigeria. I did my IT in the North - Jos and Jigawa (exploring for chad basin glass sand in Firji village near Kazaure and Daura), I went to university in North Central and I did my youth service in Niger Delta. I did my university project looking at oil potentials of Enugu shale....and I spent time in Enugu doing field work. So my friend, I know 9ja more than you do but also I have seen the world, I have been to all part of Africa, from South Africa to LIbya to Algeria to Gambia to Siera Leone to Mozambique to Tanzania to Ghana and also to Singapore to Malaysia to Dubai to Norway to France to America to England to Scotland to France to Austria and the list goes on....I have seen how and why things work in some places and why they don't work in other places. So when we see a policy or framework that will work in Nigeria, we know instantly and don't argue with those that are wiser than us.

You see most of our fellow young NIgerian's problem is that you can't look ahead of the current situation....but make noise for no just reason.......FYI, my family still live in Nigeria and they face the same problem that you face....we buy fuel and power generators but we know why things are like that and for the first time we've seen someone come out with a solution to the problem that took nearly 3 decades to get us to where we are today........

my man the thing is Nigerians always want to project their problems on other countries ,south Africa in particular...the only thing that south Africans can copy from Nigeria is how to play football...no south African is currently talking or proposing about privatization of energy...its only existing on Nigerians minds...we had massive power cut in 2008,nothing new...

We've heard more promising crap like this in the past, but what have we to show for it?

There must always be a drop in the efficiency and effectiveness of the business till it normalize under the new management before it pick up steam.
