Officers with the Harris County Precinct One Constable's Office have arrested more than 40 individuals accused of failing to pay court-ordered child support.

Constable Alan Rosen said Operation Take Care kicked off Saturday at 5 a.m. and will continue for several weeks, focusing on individuals who have active warrants for delinquent child support payments. He said there are currently an estimated 575 open and active warrants.

“There are far too many kids that are not being taken care of because one of the parents are not meeting their court-ordered obligation to pay child support,” said Rosen.


Rosen said about 24 officers went door to door Saturday. Since announcing the roundup earlier this week, Rosen said many individuals have come forward to make arrangements rather than go to jail. He's encouraging others to do the same.

“We'll knock on doors, we'll come to your business – wherever we need to find you. We would rather not have to do this, we would much rather you come in and make arrangements,” said Rosen.
