The Presidential election that was hitherto scheduled for February 14, 2015. has been postponed to March 28, 2015 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) based on the security report given by Nigeria's. security agencies under the coordination of the National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki.

The security chiefs have requested 6 weeks to crush Boko Haram and like Attahiru Jega told us last night, "we should hope for the best".

This thread is dedicated to reporting and monitoring progress being made in the war against Boko Haram or the lack of it as the case may be over the next 6 weeks.

I have not heard of any report yet in this regard on Day 1.

There was a clause - "in the first instance" attached to the 6 weeks that was sent to INEC.

Bros sorry no be today yansh dey back. If the Nigerian Military can not destroy Boko Haram all this time, I fail to see how they'll do it in just six weeks! Everything done is just delaying tactics... When March 28 finally arrives, we'll prepare ourselves for another cock and bull story.

If you believe their reasons for postponing the elections....I will conveniently sell snow to an Eskimo .....

It's all a ruse....to get Jega out of the equation...create an alibi fo other sinister yet to be revealed motives and ultimately truncate this democracy....

And op,you believe the thrash given as excuse?

Since no tangible reason would hold water,PDP decides to play the security card..

What if Boko haram remains undaunted after six weeks?

I said it then, SOE is fake and it's DOA.

What they can't do in SOE period, they want to do it under 6 weeks.

Those advising GEJ don't have the love of the country in them, and for GEJ, ego and clueless are his problems. God is watching.

This people(pdp and gej) are just buying more time. The "defeating boko haram in six weeks" is a baseless excuse only gullible Nigerians will buy. I know my party will draw the attention of international community regarding this new development and that's why am not so bordered about the election postponement.

I suspect they will want another extension but whether they will get it is another matter because by that time, President Jonathan might find it difficult to walk in public with the immense local and international pressure he would be under.

Lets keep watching.

Day1.... Nothing dey happen yet o....
Election postponement on grounds of Boko Haram is a flawed argument. Boko Haram has been in control of 17 out of 774 (abi na 777) LGs. Is that enough to stop a national process? Party primaries went ahead, election registration went ahead....etc etc.

The military claims to have captured territories from BH. Why is the govt still talkig about 17 LGs under BH caliphate? Someone is lying.

If in 6 weeks, they cannot crush Boko Haram in totality, at what point is it ok to hold the elections? 10, 5 or 2 LGs under BH caliphate? We are being deceived
