maclatunji:
The Presidential election that was hitherto scheduled for February 14, 2015. has been postponed to March 28, 2015 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) based on the security report given by Nigeria's. security agencies under the coordination of the National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki.

The security chiefs have requested 6 weeks to crush Boko Haram and like Attahiru Jega told us last night, "we should hope for the best".

This thread is dedicated to reporting and monitoring progress being made in the war against Boko Haram or the lack of it as the case may be over the next 6 weeks.

I have not heard of any report yet in this regard on Day 1.

Why are most people getting it wrong here?

They didn't say they will crush Boko Haram in 6 weeks. We say Okupe is indomie brained but guys here do no better. They said there's a new dimension to it now. Do we not see it?for the first time troops have been committed by neighbouring countries in the MNJTF scheme and there are baa cruelly foreign boots I. The country fighting side by side and the others on the borders in the other countries waiting for escapees trying to flee into the neighbouring countries. Given this we understand they want to bring back a little sanity to help conduct elections in more places in the affected area and also be free enough to offer help with the rest of the country in terms of securing the over 700k election officials and the materials. Do we not care about life in this country? Must everything be about PDP or APC? Can't we stand together in matter so life and death and refuse to have these politicians dictate our life? Chai. Nigeria.

Was that stated? Is that how the election is going to be postponed continually?

The presidency is just buying time to effectively work on tactical manoeuvres to win the election.

This is not about Boko Haram. If the president had genuine intentions to eliminate Boko Haram group a pact would have been formed with neighboring countries since 2011.The Multinational Joint Task Force would have wiped them out in two weeks since reconnaissance survey had been done on movement of the BH group ,their locations and quantity of weapons available to the group known.

The military claims the final assault commences from February 14.are they using 100,000 soldiers from Nigeria to do battle with 10,000 BH militants?
That is if the boko haram group are actually up to the estimated number with kids been recruited recently.
This is the script from the ruling party. When the presidential election is concluded and if buhari wins INEC will tell us the result is inconclusive and Bros Jona remains as president.

"The Nigerian President claimed that he has over 20,000 soldiers fighting boko haram. They have not secured any victory in 6years because of their acute incompetence.

Can somebody tell me how the Nigerian Army who has not been able to do anything about boko haram for 6years with 20,000 soldiers, now can are suddenly able to do end it in 6weeks?

Wow you guys fell for it.

While you're here waiting for a phantom progress on that phony war, your bamboozling generals are probably in some hotel plotting how to rig the elections come march.

It's all a diversion.

No. May 29 is the official hand-over date and Jonathan's term will be complete. That date cannot change.

Scores Of Boko Haram Terrorists Killed In Borno
…as Army foils attempt to seize Damboa

Scores of suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorists were yesterday killed by the troops of the Nigerian Army when they attempted to attack Damboa town, the headquarters of Damboa Local Government area of Borno State, according to sources.

A resident of the area, Mallam Mohammed Bulama, told our correspondent on phone that the insurgents who came at about noon to attack the town were crushed by the troops of 195 Battalion of the Nigerian army.

He said, “Scores of the Boko Haram insurgents, who attempted to attack Damboa at about 12:00 PM met their Waterloo, as the troops of the Nigerian Army intercepted them at Kalla village at the outskirts of Damboa”.

A civilian member of the Joint Task Force, JTF, Abbas Haske said the insurgents were intercepted at Kalla village, about two kilometers away from Damboa when the troops of the Nigerian Army sighted them.

He said, “The insurgents who came about noon were incepted by the troops, which swiftly reacted by shooting artillery missiles and repelled them; they crushed all of them, as scores of them were killed in the process.”

According to him, the army has done a good job, as the insurgents’ corpses and burnt vehicles were scattered by the roadside in the bushes.

A military source, who did not want his name in print, told our correspondent in Maiduguri that the troops in Damboa successfully foiled another attempt to take over the town, as they crushed the insurgents.

“Yes, our troops in Damboa this afternoon successfully foiled an attempt to sack Damboa town, where they killed scores of the insurgents,” he said.

[quote author=LRNZH post=30533143]Lets keep watching.

Day1.... Nothing dey happen yet o....
Election postponement on grounds of Boko Haram is a flawed argument. Boko Haram has been in control of 17 out of 774 (abi na 777) LGs. Is that enough to stop a national process? Party primaries went ahead, election registration went ahead....etc etc.

The military claims to have captured territories from BH. Why is the govt still talkig about 17 LGs under BH caliphate? Someone is lying.

If in 6 weeks, they cannot crush Boko Haram in totality, at what point is it ok to hold the elections? 10, 5 or 2 LGs BH caliphate? We are being deceived
