Hi maam,
My mom had her interview today but at the end of the interview, my original baptismal card and birth certificate that were sent to the NVC were not returned to her. How do i get those back. Thanks
Case number: LGS2014695023

The case notes say "ODR" which means "original documents were returned," so the officer gave your mother all the original documents in the file. The others are either physically attached to the petition and will be enclosed in the immigration packet, or they never left NVC.

thank you for your response. please what do you suggest we do to re-validate the petition?

The first step would be for your mother to apply for Returning Resident status (SB-1), but it is difficult to qualify for that. She can send us an e-mail for more information at LagosIV@state.gov.

All immigrant visas expire on the day that the medical reports expire -- so, six months or a bit less.

Again, it's best to call the collection center and see if they are ready for you. The passports are packaged and have left our office, but keep in mind that the collection center handles thousands of passports every day, so they may not be ready for you the same day they receive the passports.

That's probably because people keep asking questions that can't be answered on that thread. When someone asks a question that can be answered, my guess is the officer will come back.

Sounds like he arrived too late and will need to come back another day. Please have him e-mail us at LagosIV@state.gov, as we are closed to the public next Friday. Thanks!

The officer told him to arrive between 12 pm and 1 pm ma'am and he got there at 11:30 am. Then called him just now and said they made a mistake. Ma'am that's not right, to be honest. He did as told and now you are sayibg you will be closed next Friday. Why can he not drop his stuff on Monday since it's your mistake. Not to mention that his medical is no longer sealed because the first post had him open it and then he was told to leave.

lipsrsealed I take back my question or statement mam/sir! It was truely out of context. Now heres what really happened!
My father petitioned for 3 of us... two were given dates of appointment but I wasnt. but as the eldest, I was asked to come along with them... their medical test and others were taken. But mine wasnt because I wasnt given appt on dat day. At the interview window, I answered most of d questions because my siblings were minors. Quite alryt their international passport was given back to us as d u.s consulate told us they had to conduct DNA... and it included me.... now d DNA 4 3 of us is out, nd iv been invited along with my 2 siblings again... now my question is, will I have to go through d whole interview process again since iv been interviewed on their behalf b4? Or am I just going to submit my own documents now? Thank you! And am sorry about the previous 'out of context' post mam/sir.

Dear VO,
I'm writing to you because my heart is Heavy. You denied my fiancee n his 2 sons today on k1 & k2 visa and the officer advised him that we should go and get married with License. I'm crying and shaken. Ma'am i just feel like I should let you know how hurtful we felt. I had made so much preparations to receive them in Houston. I am so shocked and saddened. Thank you ma'am and have a wonderful weekend ma.

Dear VO,
I am worried about my wife immigration visa case. My wife was interviewed in Lagos on August 25th for Cr1 visa and she was placed on administrative processing since then after summiting a contact list. Her case is still pending and no update. What is going on with our case? Please VO help us as this case is driving us crazy everyday. The agony of maintaining two homes and the emotional drains on us is overwhelming.

Thank you so much.

Thank you for your response. Please I have a few more questions/clarifications;

1. Where do i pay the $275 application fee ?
2. Will photocopy of the needed documents suffice (e.g photocopy of form I-551 or green card) ?
2. For "Proof that prolonged stay in Nigeria was for reasons beyond the applicant’s control" what kind of documents could i submit to support this fact?

Thank you once again and God Bless you.

regards,

Question for Visa Officer

My petition i-130 for my wife was approved for my wife, the case was transferred to the NVC for visa processing on March 9th. I am a US citizen, how long do you expect this process to take before she goes for interview at the consulate in lagos ?, we have a a 2 year old son together as well, i completed his registered abroad birth, he has his US passport but still in Nigeria with his mum, they will be travelling together once his mum receive her visa. i have a general idea about all the documents that will need to be submitted by her to the NVC and ultimately for her consulate interview as well. Is there anything I can do now to help speed up the process, like having her complete the medical now/ get the police clearance ready now. Also, i saw copies of forms that will be sent to my wife(beneficiary) from the NVC, one of the questions on that form was asking us to list the child/children that will be migrating with her, I am a little bit unsure of how to answer that question, our son has his American passport already so his situation is not attached at all with my wife's petition. Yes, Physically he will be accompaning his mum to the US

Hello VO ....
I trust you are doing OK...
Just a few questions...
My wife filled her tax form 10EZ and she was instructed to fill single if her spouse was a non resident alien...I couldn't understand why but since that was the instruction...she did exactly that...
When she was to file her taxes..her accountant also told her to file as a single lady for tax purpose..
Just yesterday I stumbled on a page on visa journey..in which the author said a petitioner should never file as single as it raises a huge red flag...
So you see our dilemma... Should she go and refile as married or even as head of household as we now have a child together or it won't be a problem at interview?
Pls I need you informed opinion...
Thanks a lot
