The judge kept rulling in favor of d accused as to tendering original doc(statements) instead of ctc. The efcc guy was always angry. One day he told d judge 'my lord i knw if i appeal against dis ur decision, ild win'

That guy has liver mehn. That's one thing I will never ever say to a judge. Judges generally hate being threatened with appeal. If I was in that Judge's position I would have descended heavily on him and then written my judgment in such a way that he would still lose on appeal. Its not good to undermine judges like that. You never know when you might need their recommendation. But some federal high court judges can be dumb sha.

If you have never given a thought about dating a lawyer, this post is going to come as a reminder that you might be missing out on something wonderful. Yes I know there are a whole lot of misconceptions about lawyers, but hey, you might want to check out these reasons why you might at least give a thought about dating a lawyer. So here we go:


1) You will be proud to introduce them as lawyers to your friends and family

Who wouldn't want to associate with the prestige and respect the legal profession commands? You wouldn't have to wait to be asked what he or she does; you will just have it rolling out of your mouth, though that’s not a guarantee of money rolling from them to your pocket. You will be proud to have a “learned” person as a date, and your family and friends will be so proud of you.


2) Dating a lawyer means you wouldn't have to pay for legal services

Now you've got all your legal issues addressed for free. You don’t have to pay any consultation fee of any sort. You will have free legal services all to yourself. Now that is something to think about, because legal services these days
are not that affordable as it used to be.

3) Lawyers are known to be good dressers

I know you wouldn't want to date folks who are horrible with their dressing. If that’s the case, then your chances of avoiding that could be reduced if you date a lawyer. Lawyers are generally known to be good dressers, probably because of the nature of the profession; where they are trained on how to dress.


4) Lawyers are known to be smart and intelligent

Wouldn't you want a partner you can make a good and intelligent conversation with? I bet you wouldn't want to be hanging around a mate who doesn't know the things happening around in their environment and can’t make intelligent conversation. Lawyers are known to have a wide source of knowledge of things happening around them in the society. Lawyers are also known to be avid readers, which exposes them to a lot of information. All these exposures, tend to make them more smart and intelligent than their mates.

5) Lawyers are good story tellers

We all long to hear good stories every once in a while. Lawyers by the nature of their training know how to tell stories. Also, the nature of their work also makes it easy for them to come up with stories to tell. I mean, they are always in the center of human interaction and conflict resolution, and so they get to know and see stuff. Wouldn't you want some good stories every now and then?


6) Lawyers are good talkers

Sometimes it can be sexy to be a good talker. You know you want to hang around people that you will be proud of when they open their mouth to talk. Lawyers are known to be good talkers, eloquent, and come off as intelligent when they talk. In fact, the greatest orators are known to be lawyers. So if you want to have such folks as a date, you better check out lawyers.


7) Lawyers will stand for you even if you are wrong

Wouldn't you want somebody who will stick out for you even if you are wrong? If that’s what you are looking for, then look no further, because you will find that in lawyers. Lawyers by their training don’t just give in to stuffs without putting up some fight. So, if you have a lawyer as a date, you are sure of having someone who will stand by you whether you are wrong or right. Now tell me if you wouldn't want that?

Assuming you have never given a thought about dating a lawyer, now is the time to do that.

Multimillion dollar deals abi? My friend please be real. How many people can realistically grab such deals. I ask again owning a house, three cars and sending your kids to good schools from your personal business is average, then you most respectfully do not understand the meaning of wealth. Check the definition. I do not need to go to an ivy league school to hold my own against the products from there. Have you seen their results where they write the Bar Finals here in Nigeria? What is this advantage you are talking about, most Nigerian products and I am proud of them, do well in practice and even holiday abroad. 70% of my former classmates those I have run into own cars, homes, have families and we rock the best wine and this is six years post call. My friend who graduated from Madonna followed this asinine way of thinking and went to do his LLM at Swansea when he came back, bros there was no job. He took to my style, private practice (I am a company secretary on retainer too) he is dong well in private practice now, with a good law chamber, a jeep and a 2014 sedan, a family. Think well of Nigeria sometimes, after all you cannot tell me the last time you visited a hospital, it was a graduate doctor from John Hopkins who treated you

What about reasons not to date a lawyer



- Most of them talk too much especially those who are used to litigation.

- Lawyers are generally known to be liars. They can lie for Africa. Remember the popular joke about the wife that found a woman's underwear under the passenger seat of her husband's car, got angry and threw it out. The husband promptly told her that she just threw out a key piece of evidence in a rape case. Their specialty is coming up with convincing lies on the spot.

- Lawyers often womanise. With the nature of their job, Lawyers come in contact with people daily and most of them can't resist hooking with the pretty women that cone their way. Their annual NBA conference is just a convenient excuse for many of them to hook up.

- They are often dishonest. This might seem ironic, but many lawyers are dishonest. The fact that they know the law and the loopholes means they often skirt the edge of legality in their business dealings and when cases blow up, they can rely on their contacts in the police stations to bury cases. That's why some people prefer having estate agents in charge of their properties rather than lawyers.

- They wont have time for you. Lawyers, especially those who are very active in litigation hardly have time for their partners. They will always be thinking about the next case they are handling, how to address the court e.t.c Sometimes they have diff cases in diff courts in diff states.

The LLB is the foundation of good lawyer not the LLM. a lot of top lawyers gani, babalola do not have LLMs. So how does a LLB from a backwater school like madonna hold water to a LLB from Kings College London? An LLM is indicative of the foundation you had. You sadly do not have the facts again. In a school like UNILAG which boasts one of the best law faculties in Nigeria, you are tested written and orally before being accepted to study LLM. Bro you've been sounding brusque all day long, despite the fact that I am trying to keep this argument civil (like Nigerian lawyers are trained to be). There you go again with the states and in your tone bla bla bla. Bros, this is Nigeria, how many people in Nigeria can access what you just listed within the snapping of a finger as in the states. Besides, lets be broad about the many other things that a lawyer in Nigeria can do and does a charge and bail lawyer inclusive, apart from litigation there is still the soliciting part of the law which entails registration of companies (lucrative) drafting of deeds and wills, consultancy, private lecturing. We must not all go to your ivy league schools or chase your multimillion dollar deals (dollar again). If indeed you went to an Ivy league school, then I am sorry you are a very poor ambassador as regards this argumentative exchange between me and you. You have not convinced me or anyone rather you have descended to veiled insults. Well, I'll end it here before you get more hostile, because Nigerian trained lawyers argue facts logically By the way did you just call Madonna a backwater school, guy you are indeed lost!
