Hello scantee..im so happy for the work you are doing here, Kudos!
Im a graduate of electrical/electronic engineering with a 2:1. But currently working as a banker for 13 months now. I ve been seeking for opportunities to return to the engineering profession. Please assist me with ideas. Im thinking of some options to delve into like automation or asset engineering. But i would like to discuss with an experienced hand in the industry. What trainings do i start with to make myself more marketable in this industry especially as my recent experience is not engineering based? I have some training in IOSH and im thinking of going for some automation training next month. Please can we talk more? I sent you a mail. Thanks a heap!

let me add ma 2cents, makin a 2.1 is paramount but 2.2 aint dat bad too but all depends on hw u strategise nd orientate urself, then nysc comes up plus lookin 4 job opportunities and trust me most prof courses aint dat good or wont land u a quick nd perfect job...try nd make use of d internet 4 research nd info,it really enlightens or open an individual eyes to trendin tinz in terms of jobs, placement, internship and even scholarship...n.b:after ur nysc, internship can be used as work xperience<though they may pay/nt pay u>.

I have a friend who graduated from a top University in Chicago in Chemical Engineering some 2/3 years ago.
After graduating, he went on to work for two different companies; One as a Science/Maths teacher to a very popular A' Levels programme that is affiliated with the US.

About almost less than a year later, he got a job with Halliburton (One of the top petroleum engineering companies) and after working for about a year, he was laid off due to the company reducing the number of staffs because of a certain merger that took place.

What/Where would you advice him to go or do?

Thanks.

Firstly, he should commit the matter to God Almighty. This matter is like breakfast for God.

The nice thing here is that he has experience in a top coy. like Halliburton. He should compile a list of O&G companies then start blasting his CV, cover letter and credentials to their recruitment portals or HR mail addresses.

Perseverance pays.

PS: Because God is a miracle worker, He will get a job before he has finished compiling the list sef (if he commits it to God firstly).

@mko. Lol but i gave out hints already on how the companies treats their staff that should give you enough crew na, mind you their basic pay differs base on ones qualification, position, and job type. Though years of experience in the field is one of the most important factors that determine ones monthly basic pay in some of the companies.

How do these companies rate and differentiate in terms of value between those who studied Geology and those who studied Marine Geology? Pls provide information on this. Thanks.
