President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has short-listed 18 persons across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones, who will make up his transition committee ahead of the May 29 handover date. The committee will be headed by Mallam Ahmed Joda.

It will be made up of three persons from each of the six geo-political zones. Sources told Thisday that the South-west has the highest representation (four persons).

The sources also hinted that the shortlist was not decided by Buhari alone; party leader Bola Tinubu also had a major and significant input in the list.

Thisday further quoted sources to have said that the committee will be inaugurated next week.

Other officials of the committee, according to Thisday sources, are Dr. Doyin Salami, who has been selected as Vice-chairman and Malam Adamu Adamu as secretary.

Ahmed Mohammed Joda is a Nigerian administrator, journalist, politician who is a former permanent secretary in the Northern Nigerian Public Service, Federal Ministry of Information, Education and the Federal Ministry of Industries and was among a class of super perm secs in the 1970s who were mostly a cadre of group three level perm secs who played a major role during the Nigerian Civil War. In the 1960s, he worked with Ahmadu Bello in the Northern regional government.

This is an indication of the direction Nigeria is heading. We have to scrutinize the incoming administration same way we scrutinized Dr Jonathan's administration. Buhari may be a demi god to you but to me he's the president elect and his actions or inactions impact on our lives.
His every move would be scrutinized, get used to it.

I don't hate Buhari as a person or the fact he won the election. The issue is about the direction Nigeria takes under his watch, its nothing personal.

In his two-part article, Alhaji Joda gave reason Jonathan need not present himself to contest the presidency in 2015.
