I'm overwhelmed by the immense help I've gotten so far from this thread. God bless y'all.
I need the GRE on Friday and the unofficial score was 153Q 154V, planning to take TOEFL test later in the month.
Pls I need a guide on a rough calculation of my cgpa to over 4 . I have been searching through previous thread where similar calculation was posted but it has been futile.Pls any help would be appreciated.
My CGPA is 4.13/5

@datanonymous
They're mostly PhD programs.
And stiffly competitive.

Admit rates usually 2-3/70-80 applicants

I replied your pm.

Good day house, I have gotten 120 from South Dakota State University,Ms in Mechanical Engineering. I have been going through persons experience here and it has been great and uplifting. I have been preparing for visa interview of late but the answers i am having for possible questions i really need aid in scrutinizing my response. For instance,
If VO says how did you hear about SDSU: Can i say i searched for universities that offers CFD modules in mechanical engineering using google search engine.
if VO ask why USA and not any other country: Can i say because USA employs advance technology in teaching, uses most recent practical techniques which will give me an edge when i return to Nigeria and a certification from the USA is world recognized.
If VO ask whats the relevance of your area in Nigeria: Can i say it is an advance modelling tool,it is used by oil and gas industries in nigeria to monitor flows and predict behavior of systems, used by manufacturing companies in nigeria to monitor system performance, troubleshooting and for optimization purposes.

Please house assist me if you have other ideas. The issue with the home tie stuff, how do i go about it? Thanks in advance i appreciate any response or advice.

I think you should work on talking about a research currently going on in that dept that you are interested in. How the research would be of benefit to your career.

Okay I can say a research on the optimization of fuel consumptions in mechanical system using CFD. is currently on going by Prof Gent and prof Hu Zhong who is my advisor, this will help me because I will have the knowledge and skill in maintaining large mechanical and energy systems used here in Nigeria

Great, congrats. Your spirit of withstanding pressure got you through.

In the room, your chances of getting the visa was placed 50-50 so the VO stretched you all the way and finally approved your application which is very fantastic.

The secret to visa interview is just about how the CO feels about you within a few seconds of talking to you. Some VOs make decisions by looking into the computer, others do so by listening to what you say and as well as both.

Congrats once more.
