Just finished the four fenders

Re: Work In Progress (vw Beetle) by Chibzee2: 4:37am On May 10, 2015
So I wanted to strip the old paint off the car and I wanted to use a paint stripper chemical, anyone I could find, but unfortunately the whole mechanic village did not know about such a chemical. They always filed the cars that were to be painted.
So tried calling denn who's in Lagos to see if I could get one there but I couldn't get him, tried calling a few other people but no show, so I decided to go with the filling.
Now I wanted to file the whole car because I was pretty much sure that that was about the third or forth paint job that car had undergone in the past but the panel beater, the filler and the painter all advised I just file only the parts of the car that the panel guy worked on, so

I just contacted an upholstery guy to take care of the interior and I just hope he does a pretty good job.
Now I'm thinking of the colour of paint to go with on the outside. And I'm thinking .....
dark gray or something like this. ...

Guys please I'm very open to some cool ideas now

I'd go for this same color as the one you uploaded. The car itself, when finished, would attract attention from every nooks, the color shouldn't be shouty too.

Something like this...

cheesy Both colours look very good on the car IMHO but I personally like contrasting colours.
By the way, can the OEM chrome fenders be painted? I means does paint stick well on them?
Re: Work In Progress (vw Beetle) by Nobody: 9:22pm On May 10, 2015
Exterior styling and colours are a very personal thing. I would go with what YOU feel suits YOU. You're the one who will have to live with whatever you go with.

I would avoid satin / matte though. Personally, I think it makes some newer shapes look bland, and older cars look like ruins. Just my opinion, others, including yourself, may think satin / matte finishes are the bees knees.

Paint does not adhere to chrome finishes. Unless the chrome is shot-blasted first. There are actually non-chrome bumpers available for this model of Volkswagen Beetle, which can be painted.

Chibzee, I hope the headlamps, indicators, tail lamps, windows and any exterior parts are being removed before paint?
