I read your post about the hatred we ibos have for you, let me correct that impression when I served Yoruba's were mostly my friend, In fact I had one as a room mate cos of how close I was to them but what did I get in turn hatred simply because I was close to my principal and vice that they kept me in charge of so many things that has to do with the welfare of the Corp members in my PPA, but these your brothers and sisters will meet the principal behind me and say loads of trash just for the guy to relieve me off my duties but alas! the love that God has for the ibos is fully embedded in me so they din't succeed until we pass out.

Let's me get you right, Did Yorubas or Lagos state Government build Lagos Port and airport? Did Yorubas or Lagos state Government build Alaba international market? Did Yorubas or Lagos state Government build Ladipo market or Computer village or any other Igbo dominated market? Please if you don't know how these markets came about, you better keep quiet and discuss topics you're most comfortable with like football. Do you understand?
Ladipo is mostly not a market but residential areas turned into shops in the usual untidy and illegal Eboe way they will be closed. The actual market there is a Mushin Local government enterprise. The port in Lagos has been there before 1900 and is the heritage of Lagos People .It was built by the British with money generated IN LAGOS. Computer village is an illegal market .

What do they really mean by respecting this host? Is it that non indegenes shouldn't vote their preferred candidate again except for who Akiolu wants them to?. I don't understand the respect they mean here.

Somebody pls explain.

they shld stop calling lagos a "no man's land." But i think Oba scores only 5% in good reasoning. I can't argue he has SENSES

Nonsense!

Every state in this country has had massive federal government input. Why are the ibos not claiming that Kano is no mans land?
is kano a former capital of nigeria?

The Oba has a POINT.

Bullshit!!!! There are many nigerians born in lagos who are indigene by birth but not by parentage. The last time I checked we were talking about one nigeria. The Oba should close his trap, he has said one too much.

Why are you still arguing with these unleavened bread of the south, they are better off ignored maybe I should start inciting hateful speech in every akwaibomite towards them and see how they will survive it in all the oil and construction companies down there. The truth is that akwaibomite youths are fed up with them and their lousy nature.

The Oba of Lagos, Riliwanu Akiolu, says there is a need for non-indigenes in Lagos State to respect the tradition and culture of their host.

The monarch said this during an exclusive interview with our correspondent.

While responding to a question on the threat he issued out to Igbo residents in Lagos State if they did not vote for Akinwunmi Ambode of the All Progressives Congress, Akiolu maintained that he had no ill feeling towards Igbo in the state as some of his closest friends were Igbo.

He said, “Eze Odimegwu, who is a former CEO of Nigerian Breweries, is still my best friend as well as many others. The Obi of Onitsha came to visit me here a few days ago. When you go to a place, you have to respect the host leaders, particularly the traditional leaders there because you are coming to benefit from their success.

“The people of Lagos are the friendliest and most accommodating people in Nigeria.”

point of correction to ALL Indigbo, for the fact that Lagosian accommodate all tribes does not make us a coward. the difference between the Yorubas and other tribes are just that we are have gotten our civilization for very long time. So our Obas is not in the same rank like una own Igwe.

He said the video which showed him issuing threats to Igbo leaders was a misrepresentation of what truly transpired.

He said the issue was twisted by those who wanted to gain political advantage ahead of the governorship election but God put them to shame.

“Those who orchestrated the entire incident know themselves and I tell you, those (Igbo leaders) who came here on that day understand me a lot and have even been coming since then,” he said.

Akiolu said many of the non-indigenes were deceived by politicians in their quest for power.

He said, “The man that promised to hand them deputy governorship slot and four commissioner positions and would elevate the status of Eze Ndigbo to that of Oba of Lagos has since denied it.

“It was all a political gimmick because I am sure they know that he was only deceiving them. As a matter of fact, prominent traditional rulers in the South-East have been writing us to say that they are not happy about the large number of ezes in Lagos.”

He urged all Igbo who won elections in Lagos State not to disappoint the people.

The monarch said he was confident that Ambode would do well in office.

He said Ambode would serve as governor for eight years not just because it was the will of God but because he would perform excellently well. He, however, said Agbaje was free to contest again in 2019 if he wanted.

He said, “By the Grace of Almighty Allah and my ancestors in this house, the Governor-elect, Ambode, will rule for eight years with a good performance.”

He said he had nothing against the Peoples Democratic Party or its governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, but noted that all humans are equal in the eyes of God but are not equal in the love of God.

He said Ambode proved his competence by saving the state from financial hardship when it was deprived of funds from the Federal Government.

Akiolu said he was not a politician but was only interested in the prosperity of Lagos and would continue to support the best.

How exactly does any Yoruba host me in lagos? I fly to lagos with my own money. Stay in the best of hotels there. Pay with my money, feed with my money, drink with my money, transact my business with my money, and fly back to abuja with my money. If anything, I am the one that host them. Pay for their drinks, their food and the wack services they render. And dash them money upon that.
I have thought hard, to remember, when a single Yoruba man hosted me for one second in lagos for more than 20 years I have been going there. None, no not one. If anything, I am the one that always hosts them.
Just like a white man told a black man in JBourg, South Africa "we built this city". We built lagos. every inch of it.
