That's a Puff Adder. You're so Lucky it didn't strike you. Please give us more info about the snake. Did it attack you, any warning sound, or did it just wait for you to kill it.. Give us clue on how to face a snake when running away isn't possible.

killed with a stone and not a stick.

is like am still living inside my kid mind, cause what make me resent of snakes is this indisan film titled NAJIN, when some group of 5 guys killed a male snake, and the snake captured those guys pics on his eyes, them later when his female snake saw his make snake has been killed, the she look inside his eyes and see all the guys who killed her man, so she began hunting to kill them all, since then anywhere i see that they are killing any snake i always make sure i hide my face, inorder not for the snake to capture my face, its kinda funny thou.
What!!! Grow out of your kid mind asap

Oka is Cobra...

This is a puff adder, it's called "MonaMona". I guess the name was given due to its mesmerizing skin pattern.

Oka is not cobra oh! Cobra is called sèbé in yoruba.

Patented:
I think its a Gaboon Viper. a bite could lead to loss of limb or even life. Slow moving and doesn't react much when approached. Most people get bitten cos they step on it.OP We thank God for your life.

Not a Gaboon viper

Gaboon's head is bigger that the snake pictured.

Gaboon's head has to be big in order to house the longest fangs of any snake specie on the planet.

It's either Saw-scaled, Russell's or Puff adder viper.

Woke up early in the morning, stepped outside the gate and realised there's this "rod" on the ground with a nice pattern or design.
I got closer and discovered it was a snake. I took a closer look and to my greatest surprised it was a VIPER..

damn!! I had to do the needful at that time by smashing the head, because you never know who might mistakenly step on its tail especially as it almost has the same colour as the ground.

It was too big to ignore (as a viper).
Take a look at the length compared to the largest size of bathroom slippers. (in the pix)

Snakes can be very deceptive. Be very careful where u go or step especially dead leaves..

VIPER
IBO :- ajuala
HAUSA:- gobe De nisa

What is it called in Yoruba or your local dialect??

modified:- those asking if I stay in the bush or desert.. To answer your question: NO.
u can lie eh! The snake on ur pix is still alive. If u had killed it, blood would be coming out from its body. Or u were busy taking pictures of the snake before killing it. Make me understand. Nothing person no go hear for this nairaland.

This looks more like a boa, a non poisonous snake, slow in movement, gentle like Jona, but sweet like chicken.

Boas are very large non-venomous snakes which kill by constriction.

Examples are:

Boa Constrictor
Anaconda
Python

Etc

This is a viper, one of the venomous snakes of this world.

Its called Eke (Python) here in Igbo land, its not harmful, it's forbidden in most towns here to kill a python.

That isn't a python by any stretch of imagination.

You are looking at a viper.

@op that is Puff adder very dangerous snake, it gives u one kind of warnin be4 it attacks nd dey can strike sideways 2.
Omo 3bottles of origin for u for dis kill

From the size of the girth as compared to its head and tail it probably just ate something and was looking for a quiet place to digest it.....probably couldn't put up much of a fight.
Nevertheless puff adders and other vipers are DANGEROUS.....it must have taken @op a lot of guts to kill it.
