In honour of the dead and for the fact that he won't be able to defend himself, I remember him as a hermit who locked himself in aso rock and avoid socialising..

On this day 17 years ago,I was at Nitel office on Allen avenue on the queue waiting to make a call at their phone booth because as at then there was nothing like GSM,it was only 090*** numbers which were known to be used by big igbo business men. So while on the queues we just heard some people whispering and some shouting about the sudden death of Abacha. All of a sudden people started jubilating on the streets, everywhere was rowdy, dogs were barking seeing so much noise and crowd on the roads. I quickly made my phone call and ran back home. It was a very memorable day in the history of nigeria, havin killed so many people,Ken saro wiwa, ogoni 9 etc.

Going by history and research, I found out that what buhari said about him not stealing public money was/is true..all abacha did was inflate d price of any goods/commodity being sold..returning d actual price to d cofers of d government and keeping d rest for himself..we all do dat ourselvesm.

Speak for yourself please- YOU do that yourself.

In short Buhari said what Jonathan said and his clueless 200 million mumus did not understand, right

- Stealing is not corruption.

Unintimidated, fearless, swift and blunt with both local and foreign bodies. But i tell you today, should he still be alive, Nigeria would have gone through series of international and local conflicts which wouldn't have been friendly with our economy and the entire Nigerian citizens. GOD KNOWS BEST.....

Where is obayaya?

I'm here boss!!!

How far?

@Topic... Love or hate him.. General Sani Abacha understood the game of Thrones and he played the game like a real master.

He commanded no love but he had the loyalty of his men. He was unpredictable and feared. And that alone kept everyone in line.

He looted the country dry.. Yes.. But the Economy under him was better than the economy under his predecessors IBB and Buhari.

The history of Nigeria will never be complete without mentioning the Kano born General

I remember Abacha for his dark glasses and tribal marks. He wasn't much of media person. He ruthlessly dealt with his enemies. Just like Muhamadu Buhari, Abacha became everything he was in life due to successful coup plotting. Abacha was probably the most successful coup plotter in Africa. Not only was he involved in every successful coup in Nigeria with the exception of the first one, he actually foiled the Orkar coup that had all but toppled Babangida. I remember the press sometimes called him 'Khalifa' because nobody could become president of Nigeria without his endorsement. Abacha was also the first person in the Nigerian Army to have gone through every rank before becoming a 4 star General. Who can forget the show of shame known as the "Abacha one million man march"? My assessment of Abacha is that just like Babangida and Buhari, he was a military opportunist who took advantage of the prevailing situation of the time to sieze power for purely selfish reasons. He was the embodiment of corruption. It was people like him that destroyed Nigeia

He made life unbearable and harsh economically for middle income earners. This introduced "ABACHA STOVE" that uses saw-dust for cooking. This period of time, I had to trek to carpentry village four times per week to fetch saw dust. When I asked my mum why this suffering, she said abacha the President has subjected Nigerians to hardship. So na abacha stove I take remember him. I suffer...
Na true you talk,I remember that abacha stove then;saw dust and firewood.
