what job exactly? if it is the waterplant factory job at Abaji. am sure it is because it is still under construction maybe that is y.
Not that one.

I can authoritatively say from first hand info that people have resumed for this one. They used contract staff to fill it up.

It's all about respect for people. Not sending a follow up email is just terrible behaviour.

If I will lose this job, something will be published in the papers about it. Trust me.

My broda, dat is d situation we ve found ourselves in dis country o.
I started a recruitment journey with one firm since February. I wrote test, I did interview, I did computer proficiency test, and passed all.
They took my credentials including my passports and said we wud be starting latest May 1st.
Dis is June and I have not heard from them. I called but they said they were moving to a new location that I shud not worry they will soon call me.
I'm still waiting sha, but also hustling for other opportunities. Until I sign dat appointment letter, I'm still in d labor market.

My broda keep on hustling and praying. If one door closes, anoda opens.
And I guess that company is Ronsberger Nig. Ltd. Based in Abuja

Op I feel your pain and I understand where you are coming from because I've been there but you must understand this and to all those who have similar experiences.

Success mails are not job offer letters. They are only a way of letting you know that from a whole lot of candidates, you were among the successful ones.this does not mean they have done final selection.because 45 could be successful for 30 slots.

Nestle I know is an equal opportunity employer.

I wish you all the best.when one door closes, just look around ,another door might be waiting open for u

True, next time pick your 30 and send regret mails to the rest. In this case no one of the 5 of us at the interview resumed. 3 got success mails and 2 got regret mails, yet 5 contract guys went to do medicals and resumed for the same opening.

There's something called integrity..except the meaning has changed

This is not an excuse at all. Why disturb applicants when the spaces were gonna be filled from within? Do you know what it means to pass Dragnet test? That's so unfair on the part of the company.

^^^ That was how I was treated in my former work place, I used to be a contract staff(bank), I resigned and when the bank wanted to recruit permanent staff later on, I applied, sat for the Dragnet test, passed, got a success mail from dragnet andd that was all I heard. It has been almost a year now and some persons have resumed for the same position few months after the test. A lady who didn't even write the test now works in my former branch...Naija I hail!

Hi,
I am not sure your approach is right.
Send a follow up mail to the address that notified you of success then wait to hear what they'll say. Coming to the forum to protest might not help your cause.
All the best.
You should know I must have tried all means before I resulted to hearing from people.

I have done mails and calls, nothing positive.
The email was not replied and the call receiver said they will look into it (which I don't believe).

Interview success mail was the last I heard from them.

People have resumed for the same position(contract staff were used to fill up the openings).

Ok good, since you haven't done medicals that means the process isn't concluded yet and Nestlé can't be blamed here since interview success doesn't translate to offer, medicals is still there, that being said don't loose hope, people waited for 2yrs to get DPR job,n I waited for 9months to get mine though in my own case the company clearly stated in their mails that interview success isn't offer so just chill, continue searching, wish you the best

OP, I wish you had taken an entirely different course of action than putting this on nairaland.
Most multinationals I know do this and mind you it is not restricted to Nigeria alone.

The truth is most positions in multinationals are interviewed in order to fill them the next financial year as salaries have to be included in budgets. Checking online, you will find stories across tge world related to your case and all of them would advice you to keep on with your job hunt till you get your appointment letter.

Having said that, I also had to wait for 7 months after my final interview before I got my letter at one multinational firm. I am very positive you will get your letter, but Nestle might not be pleased with the fact that you have put the company in a negative light and may withdraw their offer because of your action, multinationals as a rule detest bad publicity.

As regards the other positions being filled out by contract staff, you would most likely discover that they had their interview at a much earlier time than you had yours.

My advice is keep searching, take up other roles if they do come, but I am quite certain you will get the offer.
If they decide to withdraw their offer because I said the way the handled this issue is wrong then I must have had a wrong view of Nestle before applying to work with them

OP, pls move on. To be candid, Nestle has done nothing wrong here. You said it yourself that the positions have been filled by previous contract staff. I am guessing that was a management decision. It saves on cost.
The job of the HR is to make recomendations. The onus then falls on the management or head of dept to actually take in someone.
Then again, they might have benchmarked you. So don't dispair, you might just get an offer when the next vacant position pops up.

P.S. Making it to the interview stage of Nestle and being successful is pretty impressive, it implies you are top notch

Cheers

You are right, but I see no reason why he shouldn't have been notified immediately rather than keeping him in a limbo. But all the same, life goes on and the OP shouldn't let that be a discouragement. Apparently, better coys await you and as my brotherman above said; getting to the last stage of the interview to me is a plus for you.

If nobody had resumed for this said opening, I won't have bothered.
And what's with the silent treatment? Next time they should keep their interview feedback success mails till whenever they are ready. Instead of sending success mails and going mute after that while contract staff resume.

Its hurting!!!

I am sure they won't. Just be calm, it's always like that with multinationals. I know it cld be frustrating, trust me I know. But keep searching for other jobs, keep yourself busy and occupied.
It is not a case peculiar to Nestle or Nigeria for that matter.

If you decide not to take d Nestle offer when it comes because of this, you will only be dissapointed when you meet with such challenges in the future, especially multinationals.

Like I said earlier, I'm quite sure those contract staff were employed based on another interview, because I wld like to think Nestle is one of the more transparent companies in Nigeria when it comes to recruitnent. I happen to know a lot of people who got in without knowing anyone.

I am sad and unhappy about how a specific Nestle recruitment campaign was handled by Nestle Nigeria. I feel even worse because research have shown that other people have experienced the same treatment. Some have experienced even worse.

I know there are Nestle employees here on Nairaland, so it will do me great joy if someone explains this situation and why Nestle does this.

I applied for an opening late last year with Nestle, luckily for me, I got invited for a Dragnet test which I gladly attended. Fortunately for me, I passed the Dragnet Test.
About a week after receiving a Dragnet success email, I received another invite from Nestle to attend a function based test which I did. Few weeks later, I received another email that I was successful at the Function test.

About 2 weeks later, I received an interview invite mail and call, I was happy at the speed and professionalism of the entire process because I knew no one working with Nestle and I was convinced that the entire process had been outstandingly meritocratic.
I attended the Nestle interview, very few people were present for the interview. I did my very best at the interview and as God will have it, about two weeks later I received a follow up email that I was successful at the interview.
I was very happy because Nestle is a company I have utmost respect for and building my career with such a company was a dream come through.

This is June the 12th, 2015, Its been about 5 months since I received the last interview success mail. I was concerned so I networked with some Nestle staff via LinkedIn.com. To my surprise, I was told some people did medicals and resumed about 3 months ago for the same opening. I was also made to believe that 95% of these people previously worked with Nestle as contract staff, now they have been made full time staff.

I initially felt bad but I also know about other interviewed candidates who received regret mails from Nestle after the interview where I received success mail.

It will be very much appreciated if someone from Nestle explains why this is happening.

Why have I been left in the dark by Nestle?

Why no follow up email has been sent since over 5 months?

What exactly is going on?

Do I still remain positive about being contacted by Nestle?

If possible, Nestle Nigeria HR should look into this because it seems like a very unfair treatment. A follow up correspondence to candidates who will work with you in the future will really ease a lot of tension. It also shows top class professionalism on your part as a company.

Boss. Move on with your life.. If it happens it happens. I had the same situation.. The company I work for now called me 3 months after interview saying I was successful. Then it took another 2 years before they sent me offer letter. By that time I had already worked in 2 different places and acquired experience but that job was better than those other 2...it came as a pleasant surprise rather than a long awaited journey.. Stop killing yourself and keep on applying to different places. If e happen e happen

It's like you new in this game, you need to take a chill pill bro, you will be called, just calm down, cos they have called contracts doesn't mean that's the end, they prolly want to mix contract with new hire from external to form a team so yours will definately come after the contract.

I understand the frustration but with multinational you need to relax, continue searching for other jobs, am sure if you get a mail to come for medicals tomorrow now all your gragra will calm down. Congrats in advance

Access did this to my cousin, i adviced him to go to their head office and lay a complain. He did and was called in less than a week to come back to the head office for documentation.

Could be an oversight. Could be anything. It's better to hear from the horses mouth, than to assume based on what the company staff has told you.

I think if you were really serious and you wanted the job, you wouldn't have allowed this issue to linger for long.

Hahaha...very funny. Don't mind that yeye bank, the thing is that the slots are usually shared among the bosses and staff from the HQ and major shareholders. The funny thing is that most of those selected are usually incompetent. Mehn, I worked like mad...IT,tellering,fund transfer, etc and you will see someone without requisite knowledge and doing virtually nothing earning 3 times+ of your salary and with all the full blown benefits while you get your small salary and nothing else for you. I resigned sharply as that could cause a psychological problem for me. Nigerian labour law has gone to sleep.

I suggest you do a mail to the HR, preferably reply on the success mail sent to you, that is if it is not a 'no reply" mail. It is called follow up and it worked for me during job search days, it still does. I suggest you choose your words in mail carefully so it wouldn't be as if you are querying your would be employer.
