LET US STOP TO ELONGATE THIS DISCUSSION AND END IT RIGHT AWAY. LET US KEEP OUR 26 GRIPENS AND @AGAUGUST KEEP HIS ZERO JUNK FIGHTERS. 3 Likes |

Back in her home port, Amatola will have her armament refitted and indications are she will then undergo a complete sea and weaponry assessment before being put onto the equipment roster as “fully serviceable” again. Her armament includes a 76 mm Otobreda main gun, a pair of LIW DPG 35 mm and two Oerlikon 20 mm cannons as well as eight Exocet MM40 anti-ship missile and Umkhonto 16 cell vertically launched surface to air missiles. She is also fitted with torpedo tubes but none of the Valour Class frigates presently carry torpedoes. 3 Likes |

agaugust: Every proper Army knows that an Air arm is a critical component of it's battle strategy. The Soweto Army isn't modern enough to understand this. I initially was in favour of moving the Hinds to the Army Air Corps to complement the Army's Gazelle Helicopters. Gazelle for SOF role, while the Hinds would provide full assault. The CH-3As should remain with the Airforce, same as T-129s when eventually ordered. |

jln115: American F-16 jet pilots die in their crashes. We are comparing aircraft not pilots....did the jets die....yes the junk Gripens crashed, died and will NEVER fly again Gripen pilots are always ready to push the emergency eject button since they learnt their lesson in 1989 crash. Every Gripen pilot flies with his finger very near to the eject button.....because they know crash is always very likely . 2 Likes |

In conclusion all countries that fly Gripen jets should sell them as scrap, and rather buy JF-17's. All operators of F-16's should also sell them and rather buy JF-17's. Infact all airforces around the world looking at purchasing "non stealth" aircraft should all purchase JF-17's. With Nigeria's current 2 squadrons of this amazing aircraft, they have shown the world how efficient this platform it is. 3 Likes |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by AugustineAgain: 5:57pm On Jun 26, 2015 |
mzilakazi: LOL...Clown ! NAF has completed tests, analysis, inspection, and evaluation of JF-17 Thunder and after personally evaluation the jet as a currently flying combat pilot, the Chief Of Air staff has selected the aircraft and just some months ago submitted a purchase recommendation for 25 to 40 units of JF-17 Thunder, then is close to signing the contract of sale according to Janes Defence report and Pakistani government confirmation. Your South African friends here are panicking and decided to pitch the JF-17 against your own Gripen so that they can assess the new air superiority Nigeria will have over them.....preparing for the imminent new enemy...... . 3 Likes

Confirmed on Nairaland - Exercise Lion Effort is MANDATORY for all Gripen users. Gripen users are held at gun point to attend. Confirmed on Nairaland - In 2012 the SAAF (with a smaller budger for 2 Squadron than 2015) trained a minimum of 8 combat qualified pilots who were "allowed" to fly at Exercise Lion Effort 2012. Once they got back, 2 Squadron was closed and no Gripen pilots took to the sky ever again. 5 Likes |

Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by AugustineAgain: 6:14pm On Jun 26, 2015 |
. I hope you South Africans have learnt your bitter lessons by fire by force ! You started by insulting the JF-17 Thunder, calling it junk, making ridicule of Pakistan a 3rd world country that has built a jet fighter that you South Africans CANNOT build in your country's entire national history. You joined the American/European news reporters and analysts who are always trying to spoil the JF-17 Thunder's image and run down it's technical capabilities out of envy because reasonably priced JF-17 will spoil market for the over-priced European/American jets. Envy against a better deal achieved by a 3rd world country like Pakistan to knock off the white-men who self over-priced aircraft to the world and still control the sales/transfer terms/after sales parts supply plus unfair arms embargoes and sanctions against their own customers. Pakistani JF-17 Thunder has broken the backbone of white people's domination of the world jet fighter market for ever ! Now you Southies insulting the JF-17 calling it junk, have seen the retaliation from we Nigerians, we have exposed many of the lies and false information/performance specifications marketed worldwide to promote the over-priced over-rated JAS Junk Aircraft Systems Gripen jet that CANNOT do basic combat maneuver without crashing or land safely without crumbling when least expected. The tide turned against the Gripen yesterday with it's dark secret weaknesses exposed. Next time, think twice before you insult the JF-17.....because the Gripen is actually a less capably combat aircraft if we start digging out things! Now apologize to $25 million JF-17 Thunder so your sins can be forgiven you to save the $68 million Gripen from further embarrassments ! . 1 Like |

I find it amazing that it took Nairaland (not other experienced military institutions such as Janes) just 2 days to expose to the WORLD that Gripen CANNOT do basic combat maneuvers. It cannot do what it was designed to do. By detailed analysis of videos and crashes, members of this forum have exposed the lies of SAAB. I am truelly, honestly impressed. |
