Good day all. Please my sister us visa was cancelled at POE in Abu Dhabi because she carried her educational certificates along. She was equally delayed for 3days at the airport. Please house what is her chance of winning the case if she contact a lawyer. She said she was kept in an hotel with meal ticket before returning her to Lagos. I warned her not to fly Ethiad.

It's worth a try if she really does want to go through all the hassle. I don't think it proves anything that she took her certificates. Just my opinion!!
She cant get a legal job on a B1/B2 visa, and if she even wanted to try something illegal i dont think for those type of jobs they would need her certificates, so that's not even an issue.

She must not have been very confident speaking with the CBP official. What if she was going to try to send in school applications when she came in for childbirth?

I guess questions for her is what did she tell them? Are you sure that's the only thing they were questioning? Im sure her lawyer will ask her all these before they start to build the case.

Let's not let CBP officials bully us, as most mothers have said as long as you are "honest" from the onset you are not doing anything illegal birthing in th us and you can carry anything you want to travel(except drugs and other illegal items wink. funny enough evertime i travelled i always carried all my documents, i always had that fear of what if someone asks me for something that i left out.

Goodluck!! And like I said if she is really up to it, she can try to fight it out at least just to set the records straight for future travel.

Certificate and delivery ? Two unlike pole. The chances a lawyer will win this is 1%. Which mouth will the lawyer use to fight it.

This is a great mistake. The question again is your sister truly going for delivery or staying ?

Well etihad or delta or united, all Na same. It would have even been worst if she flew delta or unite and landed on USA soil. They will surely mess her up and cancel her without prejudice.

1% ke?

Morning all smiley I have religiously followed this thread since May and I will like to thank all the contributors especially baba baby, kalango, tvegas, phema, chloe7 and of course tzetzefly from the visit visa thread.

It took me about a month to read through 401 pages of part 1 and part 2 and the visit visa thread and am glad I did.

I had my interview in abuja on Tuesday and my visa was approved. 1st time applicant and heavily pregnant in my 3rd trimester. I give God all the Glory and thank you all for all the info exchanged so far. Below is my transcript:

Vo: good morning
me: good morning

Vo: why are you going to the US
me: for childbirth

Vo: smiles and started typing
me: undecided

Vo: what does your hubby do
me: works in xyz and also runs his coy

Vo: how much does he earn
me: salary is x, biz income varies

Vo: where do you work
me: xyz, raises my work ID card

Vo:how much do you earn
me: X naira but I think there was an error in my form in regards the zeros

Vo: never mind
me: cool

Vo: i can see you have kids, raises my passport to show me that my kids scribbled on it
me: smiles

Vo: how many kids do you have and why aren't you going with them
me: i have x kids and I can't cope with a new born and them without help

Vo: i can see you are travelling with your husband, does he have a visa already?
Me: no he doesn't but I applied before him cos his passport wasn't ready and I needed to get an early date. And when his pp was ready, I was told I had to cancel my appointment to link him up and then reschedule another date.

Vo: i see, keeps typing. Then he says I'll approve your visa, hands me the white sheet and starts advising on my trip. To hold enough funds and get all my receipts etc.

Please note that the VO didn't ask for a single document even the account statement etc wasn't asked for. I also made a mistake in my form. My monthly salary is 200,000.00 and that was what I wrote but the. 00 appeared as extra zeros and it reflected 20mil shocked

I couldn't correct the error as I had submitted already and couldn't fill a new ds form cos I would have to cancel my appointment. But as God will have it, when I tried explaining to the VO the error after he asked for my monthly income, he waved it aside.

My little advice to 1st time applicants is to be prayerful and 100% honest. They view all applicants as potential immigrants until proven otherwise. I went with all my burden of proof (thanks to phema) but not one was checked. No single one

Sorry for the long post but I just had to share smiley one love people

Thanks Nerf, that's really encouraging I must say cos I'm trying hard not to feel bad and blame myself for something I'm not aware of.

@dyout. Thanks too. we've thought of that too I.e. applying with hubby, but she didn't ask one question about hubby. She only acknowledged that I was married. And it was right afterwards she asked if we had children.

@Nogen, I read somewhere that you can politely ask to be interviewed by another VO should you meet the same VO who had interviewed you before.
My thoughts exactly, hubby staying back was to make ties stronger at least for the purpose of my interview.

If u r married why sponsor urself? Maybe u shld try u and ur husband are sponsors or him alone... Then pls try Abuja...
