Lawal Daura was the Deputy Director, Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre at the Presidential Villa Abuja between 2003 and 2007 and as such has cognate experience. Furthermore, he was the State Director of Security Service at various times in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States. He also attended various professional courses both at home and abroad including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru. His appointment was made even easier by the partisan rot in the top rung of the DSS and the crisis that could happen if a lower serving officer is appointed as DG.

He got it because he was experienced, competent and qualified...and came from Daura.
