I bought infacol for my baby at CVS without doctors prescription even they have different kinds I have to ask the pharmacist which one is good because am confused and he told me to take infacol.

It's a non prescription drug, it's sold OTC. What I mean is if you take your baby to the paed for colic, they will tell you to wait it out.

Anyways let me not derail this thread do your research and be careful what goes into your babies mouth

I advise you use the night flight for a better connection,if not ask your travel agent to book the Emirates STPC for you, this enables you get a free hotel at the airport while you are waiting.

There's only one flight per day from Abuja. And yes she will get a hotel because her connection is more than 8 hours

So @favoredgal when u say a pediatrician won't administer infacol or they advise against it then I'm wondering where u got ur info from.

Colic is uncomfortable and painful if u have experienced it as u say then u wld appreciate the relief a child gets from using "simethicone"

And the drug shld b banned if it doesn't give relief...
Cc @bambini

I dislike misinformation....
Lol @ misinformation. My info is first hand from seeing diff paed in the us looking for solution to colic

Nowhere in your long write up did I read that your paed in the us recommended it to you so I rest my case.

@bisilola, thanks for the response. Stopovers more than 8hrs is entitled to a free hotel. Mine is less than 8hrs, but what am really trying to avoid is the long stopover -7hrs is too long for me.

My people,
I could not resist the urge to share this story. I got talking with a woman at the park during the 4th of July celebration and I knew I just had to share. Before I proceed, please note I am not here to demarket anyone, or raise dry bones, it's just a coincidence this story came up again.

She recently immigrated to US 2 years ago to join her hubby from an African country and got preg. On interacting with other Africans she was referred to a Nigerian doctor, Dr. Akere and signed up with him early enough in the preg, using her husband's insurance. Her 1st grievance was that the guy didn't carry out thorough prenatal care on her, no q and a and was always in a rush. He carried out her prenatal appointments at WEISS Memorial Hosp and sometimes was not available. As delivery approached, he indicated he will deliver her at St. Anthony's which was quite a distance from her abode. She protested and he said he may not be able to use another hosp where he does not have admitting privileges, so when she entered labour, her hubby took her to the St. Anthony and called Dr. Akere, who claimed he was on his way.

He did not show up during the delivery and another doctor delivered the baby. He came the next morning to check on her and the baby and that was it. After birth, her baby had a skin problem and she went back to him, but he kept telling her it will pass but when it got unbearable her husband got angry and took the baby to a pediatrician who prescribed an ointment that worked once and for all.

She was very pissed off when telling this story and bells were just ringing in my head (aproko mode activated). Infact, she was of the opinion he was just after the insurance money and had nothing to offer, especially when he was not the one that took the delivery and the prenatal care was nothing to write home about.

She's expecting again and sought out a 'white female' ob/gyn, who she thinks will be more honest in the entire approach (she was fed up of Africans! lol).

Ok, good night.

ANGLETON, TX (KTRK) -- The Texas Medical Board has temporarily restricted an Angleton doctor from delivering babies citing a "continuing threat to the public and welfare" and three fetal deaths.

Dr. Gregory Cooke, 50, is an obstetrician and a gynecologist licensed since 1996. He had privileges at UTMB-Angleton campus which have been suspended, per the Board's order.

According to the order dated June 26, the Board examined the treatment of six patients dating back to 2010. One was cleared, but five had tragic outcomes, including three fetal deaths, and there seems to be pattern.

In four cases, the Board found Dr. Cooke did not respond in a timely manner, despite calls and text messages from nurses.

For instance, in one case where the baby's heart was slowing down, it took him almost two hours to arrive at the hospital and to perform an emergency C-section. The woman's uterus had ruptured and the baby died.

In another case, he was delayed to "get through my office." The baby was stillborn.

A nurse had to deliver another baby and in yet another case it took him 90 minutes to show up after he had ordered a patient to be prepped for a C-section.

Ultimately the Board panel found Dr. Cooke "engaged in a pattern of mismanagement of labor and delivery, resulting in adverse outcomes including fetal demise."

"It doesn't mean he has to quit practicing. They (the Board) just don't want him delivering babies while they investigate further," said Brian Tew, both a doctor and a lawyer who often represents doctors in front of the Texas Medical Board.

Courtney Newton, Cooke's attorney said, "although the temporary suspension hearing was held by the medical board, the board did not suspend Dr. Cooke's medical license. Instead they took temporary action, which he is appealing and we anticipate will be resolved at an expedited hearing."

Cooke did not respond to a call requesting comment.

UTMB- Angleton Campus released this statement:

"Our patients' safety is always our main concern. We take this action very seriously and we are looking into the situation."

Cooke's labor and delivery restriction stands until the Board takes further action. An appeal hearing has not yet been scheduled.

Hello house.,
trust all the mamas are well. Thank God.
Please can someone assist. I just had my baby at dcmh in delaware county area of penssylvania. Anyone with the experience on how long it took to get the birth certificate issued In this state and steps taken to get baby's documents. I want to leave here as soon as possible. Please advise. Thank you...
expecting a response soon.

There is crozier Chester hospital and delaware county memorial hospital. Both hospitals are run by the crozier Chester group. They charge 1500 for doc/obgny and 6000 for hospital. This fee is both for natural and cs . Same price. You will source for pediatrician which should come to about 600 dollars But this depends on the no of days stay at the hospital. If you are having cs. You will pay for anaesthesia which cost at 1250. And finally you will run test/ blood works. They accept results from Nigeria but which ever is not there u will have to do. There labs are very affordable. Be prepared to pay for scans though which cost like 45 dollars. Then for your sake, baby sake and God's sake . Don't come in thru pHilly. Just enter jeje thru new York. [/quote]

Hello fellow NLers. I'm an August mum and I've finally ported to Houston. I'm a bit jetlagged and stressed out now, I will be sharing my POE experience, my Airline was United Airline from Lagos straight to Houston, it was about 12hrs plus. Houston POE is not for the faint hearted, make sure your bullet proof vest is made of re-enforced steel undecided. I don't know where they got their Border Officers from and I'm just glad I got through. I travelled with my mum and 3 pikins. The interview went thus:
Me : good morning
Officer : *silence*
My mum : good morning
Officer: Silence
Officer: what are you here for?
Me: Vacation and to have my baby
Officer: your baby? Did you state it in your visa application?
Me: yes
Officer: why do you want to have your baby here? You had your first, second and third in your country *pointing to their naija passports*
Me: my age is a major factor here, I'm over forty and the pregnancy risks are higher, I'm not ready to take any chances with this pregnancy.
Officer: how long will you be staying?
Me: 3 months
Officer: 3 months? Won't they be going back to School? *referring to my kids*
Me: they will be going back with their dad in Sept, he will be joining us in August
Officer: so how will you cope with them before he joins you?
Me: that's why my mum is with me, she will be assisting me.
The Officer stamped my mum in o cos she had her British kpali and told her she was free to go and wait for us near the baggage claim area. He circled on my landing card where I declared the funds I carried and food too and called another officer to take me and my pikins to Secondary Inspection area. He didn't stamp us in o, he just scanned my fingerprint and swiped our passports. When we got there, there was a crowd of over 40 people we met there. It was a looong wait of over an hour before it was my turn. The officer here was quite nice. He asked if I had made any payment to my doctor and I said yes and stated the amount ( a bit over 2k dollars) and he advised me not to used their medicare whatever and to collect all receipts after payment which I need to re-apply for Visa or to enter US again. Told him no problem and he stamped us in for 6 months. The 1st officer we encountered saw my mum's return ticket for October 3 and still stamped her in till Oct 1. Nasty guy.She was still within the 90 days maximum stay without visa with her return ticket

He told our person to not bother him about the $5k deposit he collected, that it was for pre natal care (he was seen 3x & never did a scan once) & that the child is American/state of illinois govt property & they are not to pay a dime, that they are even entitled to infant formula etc...

My people returned to Nigeria without paying the hospital a dime & are insisting Dr Akere said its not their problem, that Weiss that transferred them are liable..

Whaaaaatttt!!!
State of Illinois is responsible for State of Lagos, Nigeria mother's bill?

People no longer fear God o!
If your people did not pay their bills or set up a payment plan or did not apply for medicaid...how will state of illinois cover the bills when they did not request?

What may happen is that their bill will be sent to a Debt Recovery Agent who will distribute their info to govt agencies including ICE (Immigration and Customs) who share information with embassies (gbege!) and the bill may start accruing interest.

They need to return to US asap before their visa expires to clear this matter, at worst set up a payment plan. I have learnt during my stay here that nothing is free in US, someone (taxpayer) is paying for it. It even angers me further (as if it concerns me grin) that a place like Chicago has Zero resources, instead they depend on taxes, speed and parking tickets and fines to generate revenue and a large chunk of that is spent on salt to dissolve snow and ice and repairin of roads after winter meanwhile Nigeria that is more endowed in resources cannot even provide basic things for its people. It is so very annoying! (the anger is contagious when your host is going to spend an entire working day to appeal a $250 fine, how much did they even make that week? )

Why do I feel like I am ranting?

$5k for prenatal care...

That man is just greedy! Anyways as long as baby and mother are fine. That is what matters most.
