Make up your mind.
Are we monogamous or also possibly polygamous?
Or In-between?

Can a guy be monogamous?

Is your thread another generalization?

My answer was very straightforward.
Women are NOT naturally polygamous.
End of.

We are monogamous.
Like we were told we are by men who have never been women before .

Why is that sarcastic?
Yes you are monogamous.
As told by men ? Maybe.
As defined by nature? Definitely.
As endorsed by society? Oh yes.
As directed by almost ALL world religions? Absolutely.

You couldn't handle two husbands even if you wanted to .

You are monogamous.

men are naturally polygamous - as it's seen in all male mammals. it's just that as humans, we are expected to have a high degree of self-control not to surrender to such urges that the western society has stigmatised.
Totally agree.

No one is saying your man isn't faithful ma. It simply translates to the fact that he has very good self control.

A very hard time actually.

Monogamy in nature, is rather the aberration.

My comment doesn't show that I didn't read the OP.

If you read me well, I wrote for both position stating that the society favour men in this respect more than women. The countries with law against polygamy are few compared to those in support.

I have read and still read the OP, no reason to think I didn't.

This is the gospel truth.

The male lascivious drive by nature is very high, it takes high level of self control to put it under check, which is almost impossible. Maybe that was why God didn't lay emphasis on knowing a male virgin physically. Because the sex drive in male isn't limited to humans alone, but all mammals & even spirits. We were told in d bible how angels transformed into human form just to sleep with women, animals are not left out, lizards, goats, buffalo, just name it. The sex drive deposited inside d male system is very high, compare to dat of a female. it takes high degree of self control.

So I wouldn't say allowing only men to marry more than one partner, means d society is cheating on women by limiting them to one man. I would rather say is to probably create a balance by offsetting d overdose libido deposited inside d male system by nature.

No one is seeking justification for cheating husbands here. Have u seen any post so far saying that a husband should cheat?

Are u also denying the fact that there are legally polygamous homes in the real world? What, you don't have Muslim friends or you think all polygamous associations will go to hell?
Stop being biased pls.

These are facts backed up by society, culture and science. Most of the knowledge in the original op were garnered from leading documents, magazines and online sites known world wide. Your husband is already aware of his nature so don't think he'll suddenly turn into a womanizer overnight if he reads this thread.

This thread IS frontpage worthy and will be a nice topic for discussion as against some other threads we see up there discussing the same topics under different headings daily.

i dunno why a guy's polygamous nature is making your temperature rise. you are not even a guy - why are you so concerned. are you afraid of the truth?

telling the truth does not mislead - it actually prepares young & naive guys to know what to expect. you are the kind of mother that would not teach your daughters sex education cos you believe it would mislead them.

truth is - men are naturally polygamous as it is with all male mammals. in your leisure time, read about the coolidge effect. the phenomenon simply means males exhibit renewed sexual interest if introduced to new receptive sexual partners.

if you drop a male rat into a cage with a receptive female rat, you see an initial frenzy of copulation. then, progressively, the male tires of that particular female. even without an apparent change in her receptivity he reaches a point where he has little libido-and simply ignores her.

however, if you replace the original female with a fresh one, the male immediately revives with a fresh boost of libido and begins copulating again. you can repeat this process with fresh females until the rat nearly dies of exhaustion.

the rat's renewed vigor does not reflect an increase in his wellbeing - although it will look (and temporarily feel to him) that way. his vigor comes from surges of a neurochemical called dopamine, which flood the reward circuitry of his primitive brain... so that he gets the job done always when he sees a new female partner.

in a nutshell, animals do not choose their mates randomly. they identify and reject those with whom they have already had sex. their sex drive becomes lower for such partners. scientists know this reflex as the coolidge effect.

so if you are wondering why a man would leave his beautiful wife at home to chase after FUTO students in owerri, it's because he has lost the sex drive for the wifey & his interest is now in a new receptive female!

Making my temperature rise? Lols.. Only expressing my concern. . I don't just see the usefulness of this thread, I don't see the good message it conveys...

What about ladies that have high libodos and like to try out new partners? Hope it's ok they feel and act like that? Or theirs isn't natural? undecided .. How many men will take this? Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.. Truth is no one would like to be given a reason why it's ok for their partners to have the urge to cheat on them.....

Even if all you wrote above is true, what about opening a thread about how possible it's to be monogamous, self control, keeping the vows made before the lord, respecting one's wife and children as opposed this ??

the thread is very relevant!
it's just that some of you women are kinda allergic to the truth. the earlier you understand men's primal instinct, the better for you guys.

What about ladies that have high libodos and like to try out new partners? Hope it's ok they feel and act like that? Or theirs isn't natural? undecided ..

and who told you women don't try out new partners by the way? of course they do but not in the same high level as men. besides, women who have multiple sex partners do so as a means to an end in most cases.

they have sex with multiple men to get favours. money, jobs, material things, children, etc. they rarely do it for pleasure like men are naturally wired so there's a big difference in what motivates males & females to seek other partners.

How many men will take this? Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.. Truth is no one would like to be given a reason why it's ok for their partners to have the urge to cheat on them.....

what men can or cannot take is an academic point. only a foolish man actually thinks a woman is incapable of sexing other men. all those women that raise bastards under their husband's roofs are what? aliens?

Even if all you wrote above is true, what about opening a thread about how possible it's to be monogamous, self control, keeping the vows made before the lord, respecting one's wife and children as opposed this ??

that will be hiding from the truth.
it's better for young wives & potential husbands to be aware of what to expect. there's going to be a point when the nüdity of a wife would mean nothing to her husband. it's a fact that both of them must deal with. the earlier they know, the better prepared the couple would be.

Your position that animals are monogamous is a MASSIVE faux pas on the scale of the running joke in which some girl said she preferred London to UK.

Seriously.

Scientists have three classifications of monogamy in animals: Sexual, Social and Genetic.

Of the 5,400+ known species of mammals, only less than 5% are considered SOCIALLY monogamous. Sexual monogamy, on the other hand, is almost non-existent in ALL animal species.

Female chimps for example, are known to have intercourse with multiple males in her group, so as to confuse the paternity of their babies. And if she bangs all, the males think the babies could be theirs, so they don't kill them.

The most socially monogamous animals are birds. With the percentage running upto 90%. But it stops right there...

Sexual monogamy for them, however, is another story entirely.
