Ordinary Nigerians need to find a way to urge Bubu on. This is what these economic saboteurs constantly need in this country. No country survives on survival of the fittest. The weak will be crushed to death and that is the situation we found ourselves. The weak is in the overwhelming majority.

Every agency is trying to show they are working so nothing bad comes to their side.
theyve all been sleeping and stealing...let them start working..let them start showing why they are being paid so much....i do know how non chalant and weak the dpr has been for a while...

Fuel susbsidy removal will end all this stealing.

Want to know why?

Because at N87 our fuel sellers are not making any profit.

A businessman goes into business to make profit. Landing fees for fuel are more than N100 per liter. We import a lot of the fuel used in this country. Subsidy pays the difference. Meaning....little or no profit. Meanwhile, our fuel marketers have staff to pay, equipment to maintain and buy , and the wife's annual trip to Dubai to fund. wink. Hence the shenanigans......because a business man must make profit. (Unless you want to run an economy influenced by Marxist-Leninist principles).

And anyway, fuel is being sold at over N100 in many stations across the country. N87 exists only in Lag and in Abuja.(My folks bought fuel several weeks ago in Niger State at N170 per liter. DPR....won't go there).

In my opinion, fuel subsidy has to go. We are pouring money down a bottomless pit.Plus....we do not have enough money to subsidsze fuel....what with the fall in international oil prices .(The UAE and Saudi are contemplating removing subsides on fuel this year....and they have far more money saved than we do). GEJ made many mistakes....but proposing to remove fuel subsidy was not one of them(especially when SLS and NOI were in agreement....rare event, even now).PMB should remove fuel subsidy and do what GEJ tried to do....spend part of the money on mass transit projects.

Sorry Nigerians.....but either crude oil goes back up to 100 dollars per barrel or higher......or we go broke spending money on subsidies. Fellow Nigerians....tighten your seatbelts. Our time machine has taken us back to the 1980's.

Removing subsidy totally is not as straightforward as you guys think, the independent marketers will take us for a ride and fix prices as they like, not even PMB can control them, there is no subsidy on diesel but look at the way the price of diesel fluctuates, this is the reality.

The best way to go is to get the refineries working optimally and allow only NNPC import fuel to supplement if necessary which is what PMB wants to achieve but to leave us at the mercy of private marketers to import fuel and sell to us is suicidal.

The Zonal Operations Controller, Lagos, DPR, Mrs. Chioma Njoku, in an interview with newsmen at the end of the exercise, said the affected stations would be made to pay a fine of N100,000 each.

Seriously, is this a joke or what? These stations scammed innocent Nigerians of millions everyday and all they get is a fine of N100,000. Why won't they go back to the practise if all they will get as sanction is a slap on the wrist. DPR better come up with a more severe sanction if they truly want to end the corruption associated with fuel dispensing.

Supported. At least 500,000 or 1 million would make them do the right thing

This is a very good move by the DPR. They shouldn't relent yet. The exercise should be continuous. However, I think the fine is too small. They should be made to pay something much more bigger, so as to deter other filling stations that might want to do the same thing.

We also have to build several new refineries.

But even then...falling crude oil prices is going to make funding the subsidy difficult.

I think the fine should be to pay #10 millions or seal off the station for 6 months. With that, they will maintain. In some filling station in yenagoa here, they have special pump for gallon and car's. Under no circumstances will dey sell in your gallon when you are at d pump where dey omly sell to car's, because if dey do there secret will be open. Once dey sell to your car, you can't gauge the quantity.

I will only agree to this removal of subsidy thing if someone can explain the geometric rise in subsidy costs. As at 2009, subsidy cost was less than 300bn, by the end of 2011 when they wanted to remove subsidy, they told us the cost had risen to over a trillion naira even when international oil price did not double talkless of tripple, or did we buy more cars to that extent? My point is, we need to verify that daily consumption figure, IMHO its highly inflated, marketers keep taking fuel out of the country and claim subsidy and bridging expenses. You might say taking away the subsidy removes the incentive but that is dodging the main problem which is corruption! The money which will be saved via removing subsidy will still be stolen by the same corrupt officials. Pray, tell me, since government increased form 65 to 97 and reduced to 87, they have been saving 32/22 naira per litre since Jan 2012, do we have projects commensurate with this so called savings? My point is even if you remove the subsidy, those who stole must be made to pay, there must be consequences for every action, blocking loop holes AND prosecuting thieves is the way to go to reduce corruption, GEJ was only half heartedly interested in the former.

Pls dpr should check the filling stations in warri some sell at #100 and some at #97 even mobil at owhwurowu junction sells at #87 but collect extra compulsory money from the buyers, that means that they just put #87 on their meter so that people will think tgey are selling at the same price.

And when they remove fuel subsidy how much will a litre of petrol be sold?

And you should know, making profit doesn't literary translate to ripping people off. Besides, if all the funds stolen away from Nigeria hasn't crippled the economy, is see no reason whatsoever why we can go broke.

HungerBAD:
The Department of Petroleum Resources on Friday stormed several filling stations at Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki and Ketu, in Lagos, shutting down 14 stations for manipulating their dispensing pumps and over-charging buyers, among other offences.

While all the affected stations had N87 per litre on their pumps as the selling price, the pumps were under-dispensing Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, with almost one litre lost by buyers for every 10 litres bought.

The affected stations include Mobil at Owode bus-stop, Ikorodu; So Super Limited (Sahara), Ogolonto, Ikorodu; General Oil Limited, Ketu; Walesaf, Owode-Idera bus-stop, Ikorodu, and HS Petroleum at Ketu.

At Mobil, 150 litres of water were also found in 30,000 litres of PMS in one of its tanks.

Two pumps were sealed at MRS station at Alapere, Ikorodu road.

At the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation station, Irawo bus-stop, Ikorodu road, three of its pumps were sealed for under-dispensing.

At Ibeju-Lekki, Kaz Oil, Lakowe; Forte Oil, Gulf road, Lakowe; Ona Ara Oil and Gas Station; Forte Oil, Molete; Wakass, Igando-Oloja; Forte Oil, Abule Folly Ibeju, and Forte Oil, Oribanwa were all sealed.

The Forte Oil station at Oribanwa was sealed for hoarding 24,000 litres of PMS and refusal to open pumps for testing by the DPR officials.

Kaz Oil, whose pumps read N86.50 per litre at the time of the visit, under-dispensed petrol by 0.8 litre for every 10 litres, thereby making the public buy the product above N90 per litre.

Ona Ara Oil and Gas station, where there was no one to attend to the DPR inspectors, was sealed as the officials believed the pumps were switched off and abandoned on the news that the DPR was at the nearby station, Kaz Oil.

At Forte Oil along Gulf road, Lakowe, two of its pumps were under-dispensing by 0.98 litre and 1.06 litre for every 10 litres.

Wakass and Forte Oil at Molete filling stations were closed down for short-changing buyers by 0.82 litre and 0.95 litre respectively for every 10 litres.

At Forte Oil, Abule Folly, the pumps were under-dispensing by as much as 1.26 per litre for every 10 litres, meaning that a buyer who was there to buy 10 litres got less than 9 litres.

The Zonal Operations Controller, Lagos, DPR, Mrs. Chioma Njoku, in an interview with newsmen at the end of the exercise, said the affected stations would be made to pay a fine of N100,000 each.

She said, “Some of them engage in manipulating their pumps that under-dispense to the public, which is a way of over-charging the buyers and they bear the brunt of it when caught.”

man has the propensity to cheat. That is why institutions have to be strengthened in order to check these abnormalities. There is a lot of work to be done on this Nigerian project because the level of corruption tribalism and religious bigotry would make the devil green with envy. The level in which Nigeria has taken its corruption is mind boggling and irritating. That is why most of these billionaires that we produce are just mere hustlers with no sense and educative business acumen. Just a bunch of smart Monkeys in a banana republic called Nigeria

I've been living at Ibeju-Lekki area since 2009 till date and I can tell u that 90% of d filling stations in this area are very unreliable and extremely corrupt. They are professionals in hoarding fuel & and prefer to sell at their own wishes. I'm totally in support of sealing their stations but would have preferred a fine of up to N1m to serve as deterrent to others that escaped this exercise. I always prefer buying my fuel in two filling stations only: Oando & World Oil filling stations around Ikate area in Lekki-Epe Expressway. I'm so glad to read this news and I'll be going out to visit d stations to know their current status. Sai BABA!!!

100,000 is something they can make in few hours. The stations involved should be shot down for at least three month. This is something no feeling station own or employee will pray to happen to them. If this is done to them, even employee will turn DPR staffs watching any act of their boss to manipulate d metre.
