Many people have been tipped to be next in throne. I thought there is an order in which things like this are done?

Just a couple of months ago, I said Sanusi will very soon be going higher while Jonah-daft will go down. Some fools thought I was joking? Where is sanusi today.....in the palace receiving dignitaries while Jonah-daft is in Kenya, with his own real set of people......Animals.

I'm not feeling this picture. Why would a Yoruba prince, who might end up as the next king of arguably one of the most important thrones in Yorubaland, go visit a freaking emir of Kano (not even the King of the Sokoto emirate - the northern jihad seat of power)?

It seems those who label modern Yoruba folks as northern slaves aren't lying. This picture is disgusting! undecided

You must be a commoner not hoping for any title at all.

It’s our turn to produce next Ooni – Giesi family

The Giesi Ruling House in Ile Ife, has said it is now the turn of the family to produce the next Ooni to succeed Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who joined his ancestors on July 28.

Leaders of the ruling house led by Princes Adelowo Ogunleye; Ropo Ogunwusi and Prof. Moses Awogbade said this at a press conference addressed at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre, Osogbo on Monday.
Ogunleye, who read the prepared speech of the family, said it was now the turn of the ruling house based on the government declaration on the Ooni chieftaincy title in 1977.
He said another memorandum issued by the old Oyo State Government dated September 16th 1980 on the appointment of the Ooni, provided for four ruling houses: Osinkola, Ogboru, Giesi and Lafogido in that order.
He said, ” We want to seize this opportunity to tell the whole world especially the people of Ile Ife and government of the State of Osun ably headed by our amiable and indefatigable governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, that the normal rotation to the succession to the throne of Ooni which is in vogue in Ile Ife presently, has ascertained to the fact that it is now the turn of the Giesi Ruling House, Moore Ile Fe, to produce the next Ooni of Ife by the special grace of God almighty.
“It is on record as indicated by the government declaration captioned ‘ The Ooni of Ife Chieftaincy Declaration’ reference no CB141/7/1/540 dated 22nd August, 1977 addressed to the then Executive Secretary of Oranmiyan Local Government, Ile Ife from the office of Military Governor of Oyo State of Nigeria and duly signed by the then Secretary to the Military Government and Head of Service.
“Paragraph a in the letter state’s that the order of rotation among the ruling houses should be as follows: ( 1) Osinkola (2) Ogboru (3) Giesi (4) Lafogido.
“We want all and sundry to please note that the Osinkola House produced our father, Oba Adesoji Aderemi, who ruled for 50 years in Ile Ife and was immediately succeeded by Oba Okunade Sijuwade from Ogboru House who has just transited. It then follows that the next ruling house to produce the next Ooni of Ife should automatically and normally come from Giesi Ruling House, as the two government approved rotational arrangements confirm.”

Ogunwusi said there was no division among the Giesi ruling house, saying the family had designed forms for contestants to know if truly they are from the family. He added that the form would also indicate whether the contestants had paternal or maternal relationship.

According to him, if there are no credible contestants to the throne from those from the paternal side, those from the maternal side could be considered.

Hinting on the likely criteria the prince to be presented must have, he said Ife had never fielded an illiterate or a semi literate person as the Ooni. He added that the person must be influential and should not be a monarch who would be going about cap in hand begging for money.

It is very disgusting to me also.

1. Osinkola (Aderemi) have had their turn with Oba Aderemi.

2. It is Giesi's turn, I hope Giesi does not get overrun again.

3. If he likes, he should go and visit Queen of England, if Ifa does not pick him then so be it. Except Obalufe and co decide to go against the deities and be ready to bear the consequences.

4. Aderemis (apart from this dude) are so all up in the media and everywhere that you'd wonder if there are any other lines in Osinkola or even other ruling houses.

5. This man, going by the requisite of the throne and his shenanigans, does not appear to be fit for the conservative nature of the post. He does not appear to me as someone who would keep to or resuscitate tradition as they originally are.

6. He looks desperate.

7. This is a replica of how Sijuade II was all over the place and ran the Giesi out. This house needs to get itself together and put someone out, the Olafares seem prominent from the house in recent times and they should present a worthy person.

Shymm3x, the cheap talks of being Hausa slaves does not bother me but what does is the precedence Sijuade II has set. Rather than retaining the spiritual worth of the throne, he has watered it down to politicization and monetization; the result of what we are seeing now.

The winning card rests with the Obalufe and the co-installers, the Araba can only state what Ifa says and not enforce it.

Power and influence on his seat of power, within his little constituent - you can't be desecrating the Ife throne like that with some 19th century Jihadist nonsense.

Who cares if the daughter of whoever married some clown?

These folks are clowns - they're not repping right. They might as well cede the whole Kingship thing to the emirate and start wearing rags on their hands.

I don't like these people.

Strong in the North, yes.

Strong in the Southwest, no.

The Aderemi dude is only looking to be backed up.

The Emir and the folks he is running all over the place to meet with cannot decide for or hand pick him and then impose him as an Ooni in Ife.

The emir was friend to those controlling the affairs of the southwest even before he became king.
