Nigerians are funny people. You are from the same fkin country. I once met an Igbo man who hated Yorubas so much. He told me he would rather marry from a different country then a yoruba. In this day and age smh

You're obviously not from Nigeria so u won't understand why igbo+yoruba marriage is an impetuous move.
My uncle married a yoruba lady from ogbomosho, when there was money his mother in law was eating from his hands.
He eventually took dem to london but later got broke, his mother-in-law organised men to come & sleep with his wife in his own house in london, she referred to their daughter as "Omo Igbo"
So many other nonsense.
My cousin also married another from Oshogbo, today his life is no longer the same (Similar to the above)
The truth is the yorubas have got this hatred for igbos (Read about Awolowo and Azikiwe) whether they admit it or not so its safe as an igbo man to marry his own and preserve his culture...

No love lost, One Nation, The Truth smiley

You watch too much Nollywood and Patience Ozokwor (mama Gee)
Igbo mothers-in-law are the best
They'll have you confused on who your mum is, if its she or your real mum

And why would a sensible Igbo man marry outside of his tribe? How do you preserve your culture? I think inter-tribal marriage is disgusting and unnatural. Even God made sure Israelites marry from their tribes to strengthen the bond and culture.

It also confuses the kids ..when a father is from ijaw the mother is from Benin when you ask the kids where are you from ..she says my mum is Benin dad ijaw

You see the confusion and it also makes the kids a bit impure genetically

The only inter tribal I suggest is urhobo + isoko. Benin + ishan. Igbo+ ukwuani or ekpeye, ikwerre. Efik + ananng or Ibibio
.

Igala + idoma. Yoruba + itshekiri or Benin or ijebu or utsen

..others your on your own
Re: Minority Nigerian Girls And Yoruba Men! by IsiAbuncha(m): 12:20am On Oct 07, 2015
Noticed there are some Ghanians here, no wonder. Ya'll won't understand the tribal differences in Nigeria
Its not like a war or anything, its just the complete differences in our culture
Secondly, our tribal issues have nothing to do with boko haram, we don't know who those people are and they are obviously not Nigerians, they are cowards disguising to be northerners probably because they are muslims.

Finally, Nigeria is good Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, South-South, Middle Belt have all got beautiful and good women depending on what you want.
Yeah I love women, I can't lie.
But when it comes to marriage, there are so many factors you need to consider so you don't make your kids products of broken homes.
Remember, the human you know is better than the angel you don't know
That's why its a bit safer to marry from your own tribe rather than another because you heard their men/women are nice and bla bla bla smiley

Man, you're smart! cheesy

Boils down to what I said earlier, the cultural differences and inability to understand the other man's culture is what is basically causing what people call tribalism.
All these tribes you matched above have similar cultural backgrounds and that's why marriages amongst themselves can be successful smiley

Let me add Hausa + Fulani, Idoma + Tiv, etc

We from minority Nigerian groups on the average are not really tribally selective when it comes to marriage

I am from the middlebelt, Jos precisely.
My 2 elder sisters, one is married to Igbo and the other yoruba, but i dont think i myself can risk marrying a Southerner, i rather stick with my fellow Middlebelt n Northern christian guys.

Yoruba men on the average easily marry outside their tribe than Igbo men, only igbo men who grow up outside igbo land find it easy to marry from other tribes.

Yoruba guys are better of as boyfriends from what i observed because they are very sociable, fun to be with and party loving but quite Promiscuos, flirty and not faithful compared to Igbo guys who will probably treat a lady better with more respect and faithfulness, but will tie u down, want to posses and dominate your whole life and also with a terrible temper.
Have never dated a hausa guy because of religious differences.

I find Igbo guys too rude undecided
and they aint even tus-h

I wish we minorities have pride like the big 3 because I love culture
unfortunately I don't find the guys from my tribe attractive

I have realized middle belt pple love their northern brothers than their southern brothers
religion differences does not affect the relationship btw middle belt and Northerners, impressive

Cultural/bloodline preservation is important (especially for igbo's)
Scientists do not have the final say

And that's the most back warded statement I ever read.
Bloodlines are even better preserved and cultures become richer through inter tribal marriages
Our mentality as Igbo people need a lot of enhancement and polishing.
An average Igbo man won't survive change since we so ever are opposed to it.

Let me correct you there. We are not from the same country. Nigeria is not a nation. It is made up of different nations, who were forced by Britain into one. I am an Igbo lady and that makes me a Biafran. My sole interest lies in ensuring the progress of Biafra and not nigeria.
Secondly, I don't think that the fact that we Ndi Igbo prefer to marry among ourselves makes us unpolished or unexposed. It's called gene pool preservation. Even if we marry outside, it will be preferable for us to practice selective mating with people who are known achievers like us. Mind you, I am not trying to pontificate here okay. It's just important that we maintain or better still, increase our edge over others. That's all.

Rude Igbo guys are mostly those ones who grew up within Igbo land or in 'Igbotic' settings or societies. The igbos we have here in Jos that were born here are not rude because they have acquired the easy going culture of our own people.

Yes, me too, i cannot marry someone from my tribe who grew up in my hometown, cos am so used to their behaviours, but we in the middlebelt have so many tribes, like my state alone, up to 50 tribes.
One thing av even found out is that we minority groups intermarry ourselves more than majority groups.
For instance, we in the middlebelt intermarry more with you Niger deltans than Igbos or yoruba because Niger-deltans are not so used to their tribes like igbos or yorubas.

Madam
Do you realise that igbo men have married-out to more natiinalities and tribes both in Nigeria and outside Nigeria than any set of African men or women
Infact
I dare say that Igbo men have married-out to more nationalities and tribes than any set of people (both men and women) in the world (even more than britsh, german and american men)
They are the most travelled set of men in the world and have married from a lot of those countries they travelled to
Usa, canada, mexico, brazil, jamaica and the carabians, many european countries, russia
Asian countries (china, japan, vietnam, thailand, taiwan, india etc) you name it
In Africa you can say they've married to at least 60% of the african countries
No set of African men even comes close to doing that
Even in nigeria
They've married out to more tribes than any set of Nigerian men
Hausa, fulani (this I know about), kanuri, some of the middle belt tribes, yoruba, edo tribes as well as their close relatives in the former eastern region (the so called south south)
So you see
Marring-out has not been a problem for them
It might be a small % of them that do this but it doesn't change these facts
Your statement about surviving change is very very very very laughable
NO SET OF MEN IN THE WORLD CAN SURVIVE CHANGE LIKE IGBO MEN
That's the reason they can travel to most parts of the world blend with the people, learn their language, do their business and other activities there and be successfull
So surviving change is the least of their problems
For the majority that don't marry-out you have to realise that
The Igbo genes/bloodline/culture is a strong one and the men are supposed to protect it
Also igbo women outnumber igbo men by quiet a lot so if they are not married by their men who are they surposed to marry
Nothing wrong with inter tribal/racial/country marriage
But it should not be encouaged
Let those who want to do it do it
The rest who choose not to do it should not be blackmailed, coarsed or made to feel bad for taking such a decision

From my survey of the 3 major tribes (hehehehehe) this is my conclusion.
Note - This is a rating of the AVERAGE person, subjects were studied at a club, movie theater and Church.

Yoruba Girls -
Face: 5/10
Asset: 7.5/10
Attitude: 6.5/10
Elasticity of heart : 2 to 3 months

Ibo Girl -
Face : 8/10
Asset : 3.5/10
Attitude : wildly varies but average is about 5.1/10
Elasticity of hearts : 1.5 to 3 months

Hausa/Fulani girls:
Unfortunately, we couldn't find much suitable prospects so our projections are based on only 5 girls
Face - 3.1/10
Assets- 6.5/10
Attitude : Unknown
Elasticity of heart : 6 to 8 months

Delta girls :
Face - 9/10
Assets - 7.5/10
Attitude - 2/10
Elasticity of hearts : Most varied from 2 weeks to 6 months buh the average is about 2 months.

Elasticity of hearts : How quickly they bounce back after a break up.
LOL, You met Delta girls with 9/10 face. This Delta that I am? Kwaaaks! Let me not even mention your Yoruba girls attitude of 6.5/10 or Hausa girls face of 3.1/10. Go back and do that survey again, this is a joke

It wasn't even scientists that said that. That's a rumour but has not been proven by science.

Whilst it is true to a certain extent that people are less susceptible to viruses if they have different genetic makeups, it's not really the case with Africans.

An example is how the cold that Europeans brought to Native Americans almost wiped them out, but enslaving black Africans and bringing them to the West didn't do much too them. They survived the extremely harsh and tough treatment.

I think this is due to the fact that Africans are the oldest people, though I will need some scientific research to back up my claims. But I have always thought that Africans are less susceptible to disease. Africans can catch disease don't get me wrong, but our genetics are very old.

scripturally wrong bt scientifically reasonable. bt the farther the sources of the parents, the wider the genetic pool from which the offsprings are made.
