We Didn’t Prepare For Defeat, Says PDP by TalkItAll: 7:11am On Nov 04, 2015 |
The national leadership of the Peoples
Democratic Party said on Tuesday that the party
did not prepare for defeat in the last general
elections.
The defeat was the first to be suffered by the
party, which had been controlling the government
at the centre since the country returned to
democracy in 1999.
Apart from losing the Presidential election to the
All Progressives Congress, the PDP was also
defeated in many states which it had been
controlling for 16 years.
Speaking in his office in Abuja on Tuesday when
the Resident Country Director of International
Republican Institute, Mr. Senten Barnes, paid him
a courtesy call at the party’s national secretariat,
the Acting Chairman of the now opposition party,
Prince Uche Secondus, said the defeat came to
the PDP as a surprise.
He said, “We were so used to winning in the past
16 years. We never prepared for defeat and so
when it came, we were surprised.
“Now, we should know that money is not
everything. Then, we were wrong. Selling of
documents (by workers of the party) should
stop.
“The party will train members of staff in
collaboration with IRI, and our workers must be
careful against the sale of documents to
outsiders.
“The party must now go to the people. We need
serious training and we would work with the IRI
for the training.”
The chairman also stressed that the era of
automatic tickets for aspirants vying for elective
positions was over.
Secondus said that the decision to embark on
biometric membership registration had shown
that the era of few moneybags controlling the
party had become a thing of the past.
He urged members to pay their dues as the party
leadership had decided to take the PDP back to
the people.
He said, “The era of ‘automatic tickets, no
vacancy’ is over as this is not in our constitution.
“We want to eliminate influence or what is called
moneybags. In Kogi, the governor was
threatened by other aspirants. There would be no
automatic tickets for anybody.”
He vowed that the national leadership of the
opposition party would return the party to the
people by organising error-free primaries.
He also said that the party would not be
financed by individuals anymore.
Secondus said, “Our intention is to make our
primaries zero expensive so that nobody will
induce anybody.
“My agenda is to revolutionise the party so that
the idea of moneybags controlling the party will
be eliminated.
“We want every member to participate in the
party activities by paying their dues. Through
this, we can eliminate the class syndrome and
bring the party to the people.”

Who does? Who normally prepares for defeat? We'd be back! You guys should jejely merge with APGA,LP and accord, and change your name. Make sure you don't admit all those who left. Keep the opposition real! Yes, I'm wailing. 2 Likes |

“The era of ‘automatic tickets, no vacancy’ is over as this is not in our constitution. “We want to eliminate influence or what is called moneybags. This is very important. A party like PDP need to do away with internal impunity. |

Very funny!! The more the PDP acts hard done by, the more ridiculuos they look.. The party has refused to look beyond their lack of internal democracy for their disintegration... Failing to deliver dividends of votes & trust is not a consideration as far as they are concerned. The day a man looks back at what caused his fall is the day he ensures a repeat never occurs.. They are not yet ready to provide credible opposition. They are supposed to rebrand & clean house not act grief stricken. 3 Likes |

You were there for 16 years and failed Nigerians, so they voted you out. Buhari may not necessarily be the messiah Nigerians wanted but right now, PDP gave Nigerians no other option than to push them out of power in the face of massive corruption and executive rascality. PDP should learn and come out strong in 2019 if they feel the change Buhari brought isn't worth it ! 2 Likes |

Too late to cry when the head is cut off! PDP was not prepared for defeat but GEJ was prepared for it. We can aptly see the handwriting of the PDP unpreparedness for their defeat from the likes of father Fayose, bro Wike, sis Diezani, Uncle Metuh and their co wailers whereas Jonathan preparedness can be noticed from his concession of defeat before results, his calm and collected dispositions. 4 Likes |

Lol. Comedy. These people may have codedly taken to offering comic relief as a way of assuaging the almost two decades of pains they have inflicted on Nigerians. That's the only logical explanation of their insanity. 1 Like |

Bluetooth2:I can assure you that before or in 2019, PDP would be the party campaigning for BUHARI re-election. It will be so sweet that even nnamdi will convert radio biafra to radio BUHARI with himself as the director shouting Apc to his blind followers. By God's grace, it won't be that bad after 4 years of BUHARI for us to revert back to pdp. 1 Like |

Now that the PDP have made an open confession of not being prepared for a defeat, they are equally and indirectly telling us that they are not even ready and prepared for to play and be a credible opposition party. This goes to show the truth in what Lai Mohammed has been saying about the PDP and its spokesman, Olisah Metu. Laid Mohammed said just last few days that Mr Olisah Metu, the PDP spokesman is untrainable after offering him a crash program on how to be a good spokesman for d the PDP which he Metu refused to accept. Mr Laid Mohammed went further to advice the PDP not to rely on Metu for their survival as a party again. |
