ekseel:On the contrary, I know her more than I am stating. Also, why didn't you list her entire CV. The fact is that though, she may have worked in some respective firms in the UK, she does not have the level of influence that goes with such a position as the minister of finance. That is a fact that has been pointed out by major players in the financial sector. Also, if you think that the only requirement for succeeding in the financial world is competence, then am afraid you know nothing about global and public finance. Six months down the line, you will see what I am trying to point out. |

mekaboy:god bless u with dis comment. People are saying she raped and destroyed the economy and they cant pinpoint the actual ppolicy or thing she did that collapsed the economy. The economy is built by states, ones states are viable, the nation becomes robust and sound. Once states are struggling, the centre will battle to contain it. Okonjo did what she supposed to do, she has never awarded any contracts, she wasnt heading d power or works ministries. She was making policies that would encourage investors to come in and invest period. Any one attacking her shud pls tell us the wrong moves and policies she made that collapsed the economy. |

Kemi will perform. Haters can take a running dive. She's young and smart, and has experience. That is what matters. We need young and fresh ideas which have not been tainted by over ambition on the world stage. We need someone in Nigeria, that has an understanding of the Nigerian realities of finance, and is well grounded in our working culture and environment. We don't need people with too much outside influence. Our best finance ministers were local people. And that is how it should be |

Ballmer:obj was practicing an authoritarian govt or simply put he was a democratic dictator. Yaradua was not much in d scene, he left before the thing hit him, gej practiced true democracy, govt of the people by the people for the people, govt where rule of law exist and people had a say in it just like u voted against him and it stood. Do u thing it could hv happened during obj era? |

mekaboy:It's funny that NOI who advised and warned states to save for rainny days couldn't save for the FG to the extent that, under her watch, Nigeria had to borrow to pay salaries of federal workers in March and April. She was in charge when all the influential businesses and individuals got import waivers for goods not qualified for same. It was under her watch that "about $10.8bn" (her words) was not accounted for by NNPC. There are many other instances to prove that NOI is only a heavyweight on paper. In three months, we will be able to judge if Kemi is competent or not. Keep the dagger for now. |
Re: Is Kemi Really Ripe For Finance Minister? by ekseel(m): 2:41pm On Nov 15, 2015 |
maupe: Till then maupe, if all your noise about influence is wat it should be, then Nigeria should be another UK with all the influence NOI has... Governance is a system with other subsystem, a serious and dedicated government with sound policy direction with other sub system working as it should be is wat will help any minister or even minister of Finance... Bring harvard professor as minister of finance in Nigeria, he won't perform better than NOI because of the political and government we had. The success of kemi is also hinged on the success of this administration with regard to discipline on corruption, commitment on the diversification of the economy, devotion to infrastructure development. NOI failed because of the administration and so Kemi can only fail if the system remains the same (over dependence on crude oil and high level of corruption). I believe in her and let her fail first, by the way she can't be worst than NOI |

I already knew from her screening that this woman will be a disaster. She has no grounded knowledge or experience of public finance and economics to effectively handle Nigeria's finance ministry. She should have been made a minister of women affairs or some other ministry. Buhari's cabinet as a whole is full of misfits, I'm not expecting anything positive from them. 1 Like |

mekaboy:NOI is an intelligent woman but she worked for unintelligent wasters, hence the problems we faced. As for Kemi, we can never judge her abilities until she is tested; NOI's capabilities were not really known until she was tested by OBJ. By the way, on your bolded statement, Sanusi called for the total removal of subsidy payments even before NOI; Sanusi has always and is still against payment of fuel subsidies. |

Sweetguy25: Are you not the guy that posted this?- "The False Accusations Against Ngozi Okonjo Iweala" Anyone that take you serious is wasting their time because you can't be objective about her anyway. Probably, you are still bitter about your "god" who was ousted from that position. Deal with it, Kemi is the minister of Finance and she will succeed whether you like it or not |

Adeosun deserves to be given a benefit of doubts. Pple been clamouring for new breed of ministers dah r young nd vibrant, we av one in her nd y'all r already predicting doom. Wat exactly do we want?? |
Re: Is Kemi Really Ripe For Finance Minister? by ayox2003: 2:59pm On Nov 15, 2015 |
maupe: Succinctly spoken. The shoe is too big for Kemi. OBJ's recommendation gave her the post in Ogun State and now as a finance minister. Honestly, I hope she would douse my doubts about her competence as a finance minister in turbulent times as this. We need highly competent ministers at this time. Frawzey |

nigerianvenom: Lemme reply ur insult at me the best manner I can. "At the moment, the monthly allocation for August has not been conducted and the funds have not been released. Othr states ended up on the list of “Beggar States” for reasons difficult to understand. Akwa Ibom is one example. It must be regarded as one of the ten wonders of the last eight years that a state which collected nearly N3 trillion, equal to the allocations for the six poorest states, could still end up with the “beggar’s bowl” in hand asking for bail-out. And, for the Federal Government to grant the request – no questions asked. “Saints” and “sinners” are given the same treatment. To say the least, this is setting a bad precedent." www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/mortgaging-the-states-to-fg-future-in-name-of-bail-out-2/ |

Hypocrisy is when u question 40 something year old Kemi"s "ripeness" so to say for Finance Minister while u vehemently support 30something year old Canadian President. They ask for youth placement in position of authority yet when they are given what they asked for, they wish it was an old over recycled politician. 1 Like |

ayox2003:Unfortunately for her, as you stated correctly, her appointment was at the behest of Obasanjo. Anyone who chooses to work on the orders and to the wishes of the one time president is doomed to fail. The problem with Obasanjo, is that he talks too much and does very little. He claims to know everybody that is everybody, in the international community, but actually is a naysayer to only a few global shakers. Another problem is his insatiable greed and irrational lust for control. Obasanjo will make Kemi do and sign unholy and ridiculous contracts which at the tail end of this administration, will reduce Aunty Kemi to a laughable commodity. Aunty Kemi, is very weak and docile, and unable to say it as it is. This was the primary reason for her failure as the commissioner for finance in Ogun state. She is not like NOI, who was bold enough to follow the books and thus, sanitised the Financial sector, without caring whose ox was gored. Unfortunately, there are those who will not listen to reason, but will rather wait till the end of four years before they see the undeniable truth. Hopefully, the President will realise his mistake, and will tell Obasanjo to let him be, and so will reshuffle his cabinet six months from now. 1 Like |

ayox2003: Say what you know guy. she was never recommended by OBJ to be appointed as a commissioner in Ogun state but was rather recommended by the same man who was touted as Tinubu's preferred nominee ( Wale Edun) . Kemi Adeosun is more of a Tinubu's person than Obj even though it is likely that OBJ helped her to this her current position. |
Re: Is Kemi Really Ripe For Finance Minister? by Alphaoscar: 4:14pm On Nov 15, 2015 |
maupe: You are a ridiculous liar maupe. You mean she failed as a commissioner in Ogun state and she was promoted to become a minister? FYI, Kemi was appointed as a commissioner in Ogun state at a time when the state was in crisis and grounded and she came in and tried her best. And please cut her this Aunty hypocrisy because she was never and will be an Aunty to you. |

mekaboy: Accepted she warned them to save some money for the raining days but how much did she herself saved for the FG? let me remind you the basic reasons why the governors developed cold feet on the ECA, it was because the money was been tampered with and depleted by the FG under Okonjo Iweala's supervision . Was it not under the same NOI that the FG got broke to the point of borrowing money to pay salary |
Re: Is Kemi Really Ripe For Finance Minister? by maupe: 4:26pm On Nov 15, 2015 |

Thats why sentimental posts is the order of the day here. There were mixed reactions in the market upon her anouncement. I really hope she performs. Hope is a not a bad thing. Frawzey |

Why Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, is she the only brainy person in Nigeria for that position? Afterall she lied countless times that our economy was bouyant when all physical indicators were showing the contrary. The effect of how she and the clueless one ran the economy is what the present govt is grappling with, but God will help us get it right dis time. As for Kemi bn riped for Finance minister is immaterial, i pray God should help her get it right for us since the very riped ones we hv seen at the past did little or nothing. |
