Hi,

I would like parents here, as well as teachers or school administrators to share their opinion here.

What is the ideal or appropriate or "okay" age for a child (toddler) to be registered in school?

Say, Daycare, Toddler class, creche, as the case may be.

Ok. I have the sense that 2yrs is ideal, but how about when you have a very active 1yr plus kid who is picking on new things?

Again, did your kid get to start @ d daycare or creche? (I don't know if those mean the same thing, these days)

@blesoh

You just hit Frontpage. Unbelievable

Lalasticlala, you're the man/or woman (not sure what your gender is)

Okay people, let's read what your opinion is.

I don't even know how to differentiate the two. But her first start was at reception. If your kid is active please don't waste time, let the baby start it would really help the child

Reception? Is dat another stage too?

Yea, d kid is quite active. Learning fast I must confess.

* Wipes his mouth after eating with the handkerchief

* runs to pass mom/dad their cell phone when it's ringing.

Does all these easily when instructed.

Hums a familiar song tone or rhyme when it's played.

I still somehow feel, he should tarry a few months before registering, just so he can learn more from the home.

Has he started talking? If yes then he's good to go. The teachers will interview him to know what class to put him. If he's too small and you have the money to spend you are free oh. My second daughter is a year with four months very active but I'll keep her till September when she'll be 2yrs.

He speaks a few clear words. Not enough though.

I was thinking also, that registering him now, might enhance his learning to speak

8 months? I think that's really too young o.

However, at what class would you register an 8 month old? Daycare?

My experience:

I focused on teaching and training my children at home until the age of 3. We did educational activities, learned about nature by going to parks, went to museums, visited different relatives work places, etc. Just took the time bonding with them, discovered how each of my children best absorbed info and was able to instill core values in them as far as behavior, respect, and self-control.
I was concerned some personnel in early education centers don't do great jobs cultivating young minds. I wanted to be the one to lay a strong foundation in them before allowing others the opportunity to influence them too much. This time also allowed me to potty trained by 18-20mo with accidental night bedwetting ending by 2 yrs.
I loved those years with them and think it made a huge impact on their sense of security and learning abilities.

By 3yrs I felt their moral compasses/common sense/ability to communicate if someone at school might mistreat or (God forbid) molest them was advanced enough to comfortably enroll them in pre-school. After 2 years of Mon-Fri pre-schooling (classes were half-days) my girls where ready for all-day kindergarten at the age of 5. The transition was easy since they were well adjusted to sitting still, following directions, socially interacting appropriately, etc.

There is no right or wrong in when to enroll kids into school. As long as the child is ready and can benefit learning can be nothing but good for our children. Just always do what's best for your children/family.

Much respect to all the parents here...let's always stay focused on doing the best for our kids so we can have future generations that will do great things in this chaotic world. smiley

It's when a child can use his left hand to touch his right ears above the head
