From all indications, the Osun state government will be unable to pay the March salaries of its workers, as the state only got N6.23 million in federal allocation for the month.

This is far below the N56 million it received in September 2015. Rauf Aregbesola, governor of the state, has said the sum will not even be enough to pay electricity bills for the state secretariat.

“Money coming from the Federation Account has dipped seriously and our hope for survival is in our hands; what our forefathers lived on was agriculture,” Aregbesola said back in September 2015.

“For September, our state got N55.8 million. The money we received cannot pay for the power supply by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) that we use at the state Secretariat monthly.”

According to the accountant-general of the federation, the state got a gross statutory allocation of N1.677 billion for February, slightly above the allocation for Ekiti, Ebonyi, Kwara and Bayelsa.

Osun also got N19.418 million and N726.1 million from the exchange rate gain and value added tax, resulting in a total gross amount of N2.423 billion for the month.

The total allocation for Osun was seen to be higher than Nasarawa, Kwara, Gombe, Ekiti and Ebonyi.

However, with the removal of the N70.989 million, N945.881 million and N1.400 billion in external debt, Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO), and other debts, the state was left with a net allocation of N6.23 million.

With a wage bill of over N2.6 billion, the net allocation of N6.23 million would do next to nothing in the southwestern state with meagre internally generated revenue (IGR).

Every other state of the federation had a minimum net allocation of N1 billion.

Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kwara, Gombe, Nasarawa, had a net allocation of N2.984 billion, N2.167 billion, N1.377 billion, N1.815 billion, N2.300 billion, N2.169 billion respectively.

With a wage bill of N2.6 billion, Ekiti, like Osun, led by Ayodele Fayose, may also have problems meeting its wage obligations.

On the high end, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Lagos and Rivers state got N8.557 billion, N6.062 billion, N6.612 billion and N5.427 billion respectively.

My heart goes out to all Osun civil service workers and their dependents cry... May God bring them succour from other avenues smiley

For all those below me blaming the people of Osun for their present predicament, none of them had any idea that Alfa Aregbe would turn out to be a turbo-charged Lawrence Anini angry.. He had no previous political antecedents for them to judge him by..

Right now, what they need isn't our self-righteous condemnation and jest... they need our humanitarian aid, prayers and a whole lot of "THUNDER FIRE AREGBE" cool

A very good lesson to our electorate. Stop party politics, they won't hear. Now Osun has become the 775th Local Govt Area in Nigeria with 6m monthly FAAC. Enjoy ur change

It's so incredible that within 8 years Aregbese ran osun into bankruptcy.

What a pity...Osun indigenes should as a matter of urgently organize mass revolt to run Aregbe out of the state but if they failed to do that then their suffering just started cos aside the fact that their future has been mortgaged then servitude and outright sale of the state should be expected.

Driver or security? That's a promotion. He should be made to go back to repairing fridges at the plantation. That's his only known career profession

By monday morning, you will see a select 'paid' crowd that will be lined up on the road, hailing him on his way to work. That's what he does anytime his abysmal performance comes to the fore.
As for imo state,it only takes uche nwosu(his son in law cum chief of staff cum chief crowd mobilizer cum governor emeritus) one phone call to mobilize supporters from the villages to hail rochas when he grinds the state to a halt.
Apc governments all over has that magic touch. The touch that takes a once living state to a comatose state in the shortest possible time.

Our fathers survived with agriculture, since September the warning bell has been ringing you never make attempt of planting. When will these people learn. Instead of him to sit at home and plan on the welfare of his state he also decided to fly with the president. Wailers food don come contribute

What the governor has done in that state is criminal.

I don't see how APC will win Osun's gubernatorial election unless they rig.

Well that's what they get for voting a rascal as governor.
