So you want PMB to let the dollars flow? That would leave us out of dollars to buffer the naira....leading to the naira falling, and inflation and more issues.

Or we should devalue the Naira? That would only make the parallel market worse...and won't change anything.

What is your alternative?

You can do what? Pls start with your own Internet before embarking on aircraft making. It takes a removal of just one plug for Nigeria to experience Internet black out...Ordinary bicycle u can't make.....please we overrate ourselves and that is the foundation of our problems....

That is why Buhari was voted into power to solve problems and not to add to it. Buhari is adding to our problems. He has not solved a single issue since he became a civilian president.

Did you buy any airline ticket last year and currently>

The price, as far as i'm concern, is still the same price for this season/period.

Lets not continue to peddle unconfirmed stories.

Besides, ticket for coming summer season is always higher compared to winter season

Well, what the government is doing now is the least worst of a slew of bad alterantives.

We are oil dependent. And when the price of oil falls....we have to conserve the amount of dollars we have so that we do not lose the value of the naira.

We could diversify....but the problem is...it takes a long time, we need to increase the number of large farms in the country...and anyway....agricultural products prices are not controlled by us...they are controlled in the same London and New York where oil is controlled.

What we should be doing is spending more on educaiton (Which is what we are doing)....and renovating and imporving power...so that we can become a manufacturing power. A process which can take years.

So...what is your alternative.? What do you think PMB should be doing.?

Nigeria's economy is grounding to a halt because of Buhari's stubborn insistence on not devaluing the Naira. Now we have massive job cuts from import dependent jobs, unwillingness of foreign investors to come in and buy our Naira in exchange for their dollars because the fear of devaluation is still hanging. And then our factories are grounding to a halt because imported raw materials are hard to come by. Does Buhari know that nobody is gaining from not devaluing the Naira, except the round trippers at the CBN and banks?

You should know that this government's Forex and other monetary policy are deliberate efforts to revamp our home industries and discourage luxury expenditure.

Sir how could you be talking about avoiding inflation when there is inflation already? What do you call an increase of airfare by more than 100%? The fact remains that what ever policies we have now is not working in any sense of it. Whether PMB is letting the dollars flow or not does not help the situation Nigeria is in. Unfortunately Nigerians need more than PMB's Change mantra to dig themselves out of these mess.

I disagree with you.
If we devalue our Naira, like other oil dependent countries have done, we will actually attract more foreign exchange because there are plenty of opportunities in the country and foreign portfolio investors will rush in with dollars to invest. The problem is that Buhari's stance on devaluation is chasing the foreign investors away. If they come in today and buy our Naira at N199 and the government announces a devaluation tomorrow to N250, they will lose 25% just like that. Plenty of investors want to come in and access our bond market, capital market e.t.c but our monetary policy is scaring people away! Buhari's economics is 1960's. Nobody keeps the value of his currency artificially high like we're doing for sentimental reasons. Even Abacha knew better.

Well there is inflation. What the government is doing is not letting it get worse.

As for policies...the best policy for now is to conserve foreign exchange. We could rely on Agric to get us more...but Agric, despite the improvements under the last Admin is still poor....we do not produce enough cotton, groundnuts, palm oil, etc for export. And we have fallen far behind in Agric.(we went from no 1 in palm oil to producing less than 10 % of the world's palm oil output).

And even if we devalue....at the end of the day...the parallel market would get worse...and the round tripping would continue.

So..allwe can do is conserve forex. Because if we don;t....we would end up with a devalued naira and even worse inflation.

So...what do you think the government should be doing? I am serious.
