You're right,

but is it safe to defend the CBN recruitment saga by saying: CBN is meant for the sons and daughters of the rich and the elites? Given the fact that these folks are less prone to fraud, unlike poor kids who have never seen brand new dollars & pounds?

Please do not quote quota system or Federal Character. Remember, private firms also have their corporate and recruitment strategy, and I've never seen any written form of discrimination. They all claim one thing on paper, and do another in reality.
When it is time to defraud clients, they'll smile and dine with an Hausa man from Usmanu Danfodio University, but when it's time to recruit, they would immediately remember their redundant alma mata, without given others any chance to prove their worths.

Anyway, I'm not mad at the employers, whoever denies me any position is at loss.
Well the issue is that CBN is a public company whose fund comes from the public treasury, it will then be absurd to write off Nigerians from participating. How I feel with my private life is my problem, but how they deal with our propertiez and funds is our collective problem else we shouldn't complain some people embezzled our money despite the fact that they are rich already

some Nigerians are very corrupt. The same HR in that akara firm would tomorrow blame and accuse CBN of corruption and discrimination.

Chairman this is a private firm, they can do as they please besides all firms already do this they just keep it in house

Cbn is a public institution funded by tax payers money, how you can compare the two baffles me

Every employer has the right to choose whoever they want to employ. There are so many employers here in the US who only hire graduates from Ivy league schools. I even read one or two law firms who only hire lawyers that graduated form Havard law.

As long as you good at what you do, discriminations such as these will not be enough to stop you from achieving your dreams.

The CBN is a government organization and not private. 'Discrimination' from private firms employers can still be tolerated, not from a government organization like CBN.
NB: I'm not in support of the 'discrimination' from the private firms.

There are companies in Abroad that only employ graduates from ivy league schools, what you should focus on is increasing your worth in the labour once you got all the stuff that employers need they will come crawling to your feet

OP create your own fortune 500 company! there are alot of things one can do to become superwealthy in this life! stop moaning!

but on a lighter note if wealth was equitably distributed across the country, there will be no need for this thread...that is just the sad reality.

OP trust me, in the end this anomaly you highlighted here, instead of breaking you will make you better and wealthier individual. Isaac and Joseph in the Bible comes to mind.

Know of a guy that went to submit his CV in Access Bank HQfor Industrial training only to get there and the security guy told him they don't accept I.T students but fortunately for him he later met a banker in the bank who he narrated his ordeal to and the banker was like that cant be true so he collected his docs scanned it and sent it to d HR,then after sometime only for the HR to reply that they do accept I.T students but his university isnt among the listed schools they accept.
So you can imagine how ridiculous that sounds

cheesy

my friend slap yourself. you are a fish.

they "specifically love", meaning they would appreciate applications from students from those particular schools.

this is a normal requirement and it's nothing special.

GE sometimes require applications from students who meet the requirements for entry into MIT's engineering departments and would only consider applications of students who meet these requirements only.

it's not a big. don't make a mountain out of a sand castle.

Those employed by the CBN are equally Nigerians, and tax payers. You and I are not MORE Nigerian than Kachiku & Atiku's children.

What about UNN, ABU, Uniben, Unilorin, FUTO, NAU, UniJos, UniPort and the others...

This is a dangerous trend and could cause rifts and echoes of tribalism in the country if not nipped in the bud.

Our universities are not tribalized though. U have all tribes studying there. So obviously different tribes can apply for these positions.

I think this is more of discrimination based on lecturers/professors in these unis. Maybe they think OAU lecturers are better than LASU lecturers. Its just an opinion of that firm and the op shouldnt take it personal. I know some accounting firms believe dt accounting students from polytechnics are more skillful dn accounting students from federal unis. Dts also an opinion.

I'm not in anyway supporting the actions of CBN, however, it is right to condemn the actions of hypocritical firms. Let's dig deep into their recruitment strategy.. They all falsely claim they provide equal opportunity.

Heartbreaking- Another Form Of Job Discrimination Emerges

Today I came across another form of discrimination on a job site
Take a look at this.

“We love those who went to School in Nigeria, and we especially love people from the University of Ibadan, FUTA, Akure, Convenant University, Babcock University, the University of Lagos and the Obafemi Awolowo University.”

So basically, if you did not go to one of these schools, you have been subtly informed not to apply?
Wow.

You were probably applying for a job in an 'owambe' company. Kindly mention the name of the company so that people from other part of the country will boycott them. This 'owambe' company should focus on marketing and selling their products and services to their fellow 'owambe' people.

Yes, mention the owambe company so that we owambe people will patronize them for emphasizing on Owambe interest instead of a fabricated NIgerian interest.

So no beta institutions exist in other regions? Aftr, d same firm will say they employers of equal opportunities. Does dis not further deepen d distrust among tribes in d country? Soon a firm will say they only wnt graduates frm SE institutions, guess who started it 1st?
