Good evening V/O

I have been following this pages for a while untill my visa application was refuse.. I can find the major reason why i was denial in the first because i was not even given a fair hearing from the visa officer in lagos..

I was suppose to travel with b1/b2 visa for a conventions.
v.o where are you going in the usa ? ... i told him
v.o why are you going there ? i told him is for aci convention
v.o who is organizing the conventions ? i told him is aci north america
v.o are u marred ? Yes
v.o kids ? yes a Daughter
v.o have you travel outside the country b4 ? yes south africa 2 times and dubai once and other africa counrty like ghana etc
v.o what do you do ? i told him i am into agricultural commodities i am the managing director of my company..

the next thing i saw was a blue paper that he is sorry i do not qualify for the visa bco i could not demonstrate that i have a strong tie in my country.. like professional work school family or social link..

I sincerely need someone to tell me what i did wrong..

Hello kaykay12345,

You are welcome to reapply at any time. Ties are assessed in many ways and purpose of travel is a main indicator as that is what defines your whole reason for waiting a visa. Make sure to be very clear and CONCISE in your explanation of where you are going and WHY.

Dear Vo,

My sister wants to renew her F1 visa using the dropbox renewal service.

Does she need to submit my dad's bank statement with her application? Also, can she use an unofficial transcript ( downloaded from webadvisor).

Thank you.

Cc lagosniv and abujaniv

Hello blessedfavoured,

She only needs to submit the I-20, the DS 160 and her transcripts. If they are unofficial, they must be printed directly from the web portal and not copied and pasted into a word document.

Hello sir/ma.
I have all my documents intact and complete but the only issue I have now is that the name on my appointment date is different from the one on my D-160. I have sent countless mail to the embassy but it wasn't resolved.
I hope that wouldn't affect my interview

Dear VO.

I was refused a student few years ago. When plundering on why the VO refused me with just few questions , I recall her asking ''again when did you finish uni'' I said 2007 . I suspect that my in earlier application I wrote 2008 as my year of graduation.

The truth about this is that our set year is 2006/2007 academic year. But because of strikes and other problems the university suffers we wrote our final exam in 2008. We got our original certificate in 2010. And issueing date was backdated to 2007 which was suppose to be the ideal year of graduating. I fill 2007 because I can't say I finished 2008 when my result is showing issueing date as 2007. The VO never said anything about this difference. But I am now suspecting that was where d problem lies.

My real issue now is that, I am about to apply for visit visa now , I am scared the VO might still use this against me without asking anything about it.

How do I make VO see things from my angle, having it in mind that VO make decisions without even probing further to clarify issue.

Hello Hadez,

The name on your passport must match the name on your DS160 application. It is not the Embassy you need to contact but CGI Nigeria.

Hello Elizabeth40,

It is highly unlikely that is the only reason for your refusal. We all know very well that there are many strikes in the universities and colleges here and we are understanding of that. Proving to the officer that you are a credible and qualified student takes many forms and is not predicated on one small piece of information. Being clear and upfront in the short time you have at the window is VERY important. When you apply again, be sure to take the time to review your application before submitting to ensure that all the answers are accurate. As always you must overcome the presumption of immigrant intent - so be sure to clearly explain your ties to Nigeria, your purpose of travel and how you will pay for your trip.

Thanks alot for all the advise you have been dishing out here.

Visiting usa has always been a childhood fantasy, I just got married last year and with a baby girl this year.
I applied for a b1/b2 last December to see what xmas and new year looks like in the usa. I have worked in an oil and gas company for like 5 years as a sales assistance and with the plans of floating my firm come january. Now my firm is up and running by me and my wife. With my experience I was able to gather lots of clients to my company and it is doing very well.

I was denied visa December 22, and I didn't know why, but after much thoughts I felt it was because my salary was small as I placed my exact salary which was N175,000 per month as they asked me of my salary and when they asked if I was married I answered yes. He further asked why i am not travelling with my wife and told him I didn't plan or bugdet on that now but plans on travelling with her next 2017 summer. Truth was that she was 6 months pregnant then and we were both planning on floating our own firm as we both work in same oil and gas firm. I felt that my salary and the job did not give me a strong tie to my country as I might get a better job over there and refuse coming back.

But now my LGA is doing a convention in newyork come july 2 and I was privileged to be one of the invitees.

Would my record still affect my chances of getting a visa.
Right now our finances have improved immensely as quadrupled.

Does this give me stronger link to my country than when i was working?

Please i needed to know if I can reject the invitation or not so as to avoid another rejection, as I am to travel before December to uk to create more business opportunities for my firm.

Dear VO,

I and my friend intend to visit the US together. We're both legal residence of Ireland. My friend is currently in Nigeria for business trip. Since his country of residence is Ireland, can he apply for US visa in Nigeria? And as he does not have ties to Nigeria but Ireland, will they accept his ties to Ireland and not Nigerian documents?

Thanks

My interview date for my B1-B2 is around the corner but I just observed that I erroneously chose Lagos as my passport place of issue instead of Abuja, would this affect me or is there anything I can do to correct this?

Hi Abuja NIV,
A friend of mine applying for B1/B2 visa realized after submitting his DS-160 form that he erroneously entered Lagos as his place of passport issuance instead of Abuja which was where he obtained his passport. His interview is in Abuja on Tuesday and he's worried that this could cause a concern.
Kindly advise on what step he can take to urgently remedy the situation. Thank you.

Thank you for your response. It shows that you are understanding and I can't express how appreciative I am of that. I was given a ticket and only asked to pay a fine. I was not arrested. So can I go through with the dropbox process? Please what is your best recommendation?
Best regards

Hello VO, I need help on the the following:
I met my spouse online 15years ago but after sometimes we stopped dating due to distance n she adviced me to go and get married in nigeria to avoid wasting my time about 6 years ago but few years into the marriage I did not work out.
So I went to file for divorce in the law court here in Nigeria case yet to be dissolved.
However in one of my recent trip to US I met my former gf who advice me to get marry then, I narrated my ordeal to her and I discovered we are in love again. To formalize it ,can I get married to her without informing the embassy once the divorce paper is out from court because I will be going again next month to visit on my B1/B2 visa?
I have intention of coming back because my business is still here in Nigeria a I v been doing in the past four years.
Also she said if I married her I must be ready to relocate, which is the best type of visa to applied for ?

Dear VO, @Abujaniv

My Church in the US invited me for her international conference next month, my branch church in Nigeria is my sponsor and has given me A letter of introduction and Sponsorship. Due to some issues the church would love to keep her financial account statement confidential and could not release this to me. Please what advise can you give as my interview is around the corner?

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks VO. You are actually right, my visa was granted this morning at the Lagos embassy.

I was so happy that I didn't hear the instruction on how to collect my passport back clearly.

I chose Ikeja as means of collection, but the VO mentioned and circled Victoria Island on the form he gave me. And I thought I heard him say go collect on Monday, could that be correct cos the interview was today Friday.

Just want to b sure b4 going on Monday.
Pls pardon me o, I was too happy to grab the instructions clearly!

Okay...... Hello V.O
Firstly I must commend everyone that has replied to a question and those that have asked. Thumbs up guys.
My epistle
I went to a lawyer that's a pro in travelling to countries like UK and US and told him my interest in going to us.
I was told I need to "dis-virgin" my PP. So he suggested Ghana. Also he stated I needed to have a good bank statement and ties to Nigeria. He also said possibility of me getting a visiting visa is slim if am not married, and I was offered some "solutions", which I don't want to follow.
I run a website that pulls traffic and keeps me alive
I am also into real estate
I have two properties in Nigeria. Land and and a House
I'm not married
I don't have kids.
I wanna visit the state cos I have been working working working and I have not had a me time out of this country. I don't want. to visit an African country. I really want somewhere different maybe visit the great canyon undecided grin. Also I intend to study The real estate market to see if maybe in the future , I may consider opening up my website to the states, also would love to visit my aunt that has a permanent residents in the US.
I have never travelled outside the country.
My revenue is Okay
I intend spending 2 weeks , have to come back here to continue making money as usual grin
With all I have stated, do I have a chance ? Cos from what I have read I dey fear ooo. Please respond. Thanks

Hello Vo.. I intend going for my visa interview soon. My sponsor gave me both his company bank statements (2 different banks) and his personal. So I have 3 bank statements from two banks.. Is it okay for me to go for my interview with 3 bank statements? Cos a friend told me I can only present a maximum of just two bank statements.

Hello VO,

I have a valid B1/B2 visa i got last year that was issued for child birth and i had my daughter in Virginia in April 2015.I paid fully for all bills and accepted no government aid.I have all my receipts for payments made.
I am however pregnant again and wish to give birth in the US later this year.Is there any vital information i need to have or know before returning to have my second child in the US so as not to have issues at the POE.

Dear VO,

Thanks for a job well done. My family (Myself, wife & little daughter) got our B1/B2 visas by drop box renewal in 2014 for a family vacation. Unfortunately, we were unable to go as a family for the vacation that year due to exigencies of work that came up subsequently. However, I have used the visa twice. My wife has equally visited the US once on that visa. But my daughter did not use the visa at all. The visas are now expired. Will there be a negative consequence during visa renewal for my daughter not being able to use that visa. Your thoughts on this will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.
