Abakaliki is a hidden treasure.

The roads are very clean. I was impressed when I visited there.

I only mentioned that Willis should take a clue from him because I know awka doesn't have these infrastructures and Willie is busy building signposts of " Willie is working".

I also mentioned Rochas, so stop taking it personal with your asha90 moniker

I guess you are the only person on nairaland who doesn't know Asha90. He has up to 5 moniker he uses to insult everyone here.

He's more Anambra more than Obiano and Peter Obi put together. He behaves like a cursed child. Smh

I thinking those roads: kpirikpiri, ogoja, ezza-road, et all where constructed under the past governments.

How come its only this present administration that get all the credits?

Lived there few years back and have been there like twice this year.

The only new things I see there are: street lights and added cleanliness.

Note: This government is doing very well but I strongly believe the past governments spent all years doing "exactly nothing".

CC: All new governments in the state performs better than the previous. my opinion though.

Sorry to say this cos am curios,na so pple plenty reach for abakaliki to warrant the construction of THREE flyovers, I feel it's waste of resources cos flyovers is only meant to relieve traffic not to show off.my opinion tho.

U re correct, but unfortunately most things in Nigeria are intended for SHOW OFF even when people will venture into listing states with fly oveovers & erroneously omitting others.

The problem is that Elechi did not start from where Egwu stopped. Egwu did very well but Elechi came and started fighting with everybody and at the same time carrying out big projects at the same while leaving all the roads in the state to rot away. The projects include ochudo city which will house the new government house, industrial estates, residential areas/executive quarters, etc, oferekpe water scheme, unity bridges (up to 25 heavy bridges), international market, new rice mill industry in three different areas, etc... None is completed.

Nwanne, Dave Umahi never hoped for monthly allocation from Abuja to run his administration if not the story would be a different thing today. Tax and more taxes, I speak now every shops paid to the government account... N14,000.
All the transport company in the state pay their taxes and everyone is even happy paying it.

Who is everyone?? Abeg speak for yourself!!

Imagine bringing a bill of close to 100k to our house for waste disposal!! I understand those lorries bringing pure water from enugu are now also be taxed about 15k as they enter the city.

While I commend him on laudable projects, he should pls take it easy on the taxes. Peple are not finding it funny.

What Egwu could not achieve in eight years, Dave have achieved in one year. I use to get really flabbergasted when people praise Egwu who virtually did nothing for the state. His government was that of share the money, and no meaningful project can be credited to Egwu's administration in Ebonyi. In my own opinion, we have had just two governors in Ebonyi, Martin Elechi and Dave Umahi. Egwu's 8 years was a total waste quote me anywhere.

Truth.

And I hope Dave Continues from Where Elechi Stoped. Because the problem of our country is that new governments never believe in any of the past gorernment's policies.

Bros 30 bottles of Hero beer for you. Egwu virtually did nothing during his eight wasted years in office. Tell one project one can point and said, 'this is Egwu's legacy?'
Like you said, we have only had two Governors in Ebonyi state, Elechi and the present Governor.... I pray that Dave Umahi will even do half of what Elechi did during his time. Elechi legacy will outlive the present generation. Elechi makes ground fertile for Dave to thrive.

Apart from the new flyovers and tarring almost all the the street in the town with Street lights and some other minor projects going on in agricultural sector, every other projects from the last administration are being completed. Dave is a wise guy.

My brand is gulder bro. I'm happy that somebody is not blind folded like others to see that Egwu was a waste to our dear Ebonyi. So far Martin Elechi is still the best governor Ebonyi ever had, hopefully Dave will out do him.

Please could you enumerate some of the projects done by Egwu that makes u think he did very well?

Considering the resources at the disposal of Egwu's administration, he started in 1999 when Ebonyi was nothing and had absolutely nothing. He started by giving Ai, the state capital a facelift by reconstructing all the major roads in Ai. He introduced free and compulsory primary and secondary education throughout his tenure, started Ebonyi State University at its temporary site and later built the permanent site which was commissioned before the end of his administration and also funded EBSU very to enable them run medical school which saw EBSUTH won the best state owned medical school in the country in 2005. Aggressive rural road contruction and electrification projects of which my village is a beneficiary. In fact Egwu tried his best considering that Ebonyi had nothing when he came in and today, Ebonyi can compete favourably with her mate states and even her elder States in all facets of human endeavour. Had it been that Elechi started from where he stopped, we would've by now.
