1. Mankind's sinful nature
The history of the atheist community and various studies concerning the atheist community point to moral depravity being a causal factor for atheism.

In addition, there is the historical matter of deceit being used in a major way to propagate atheism from the time of Charles Darwin onward.
The Bible indicates that atheists are morally depraved. The psalmist David declared: "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." — Psalms 14:1 (KJV). The prophet Jeremiah wrote: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" - Jeremiah 17:9 (KJV)

Francis Thompson wrote: "Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman."

Moral depravity is certainly one of the prime causes of atheism. For example, atheists have been the biggest mass murderers in history. I proved that (HERE).

Atheist, Cannibal and serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer asked: "If a person does not think there is a God to be accountable to, then what's the point of trying to modify your behavior to keep it within acceptable ranges?

Evolutionist and atheist Richard Dawkins stated in an interview: “What’s to prevent us from saying Hitler wasn’t right? I mean, that is a genuinely difficult question." The interviewer wrote, regarding the Hitler comment, "I was stupefied. He had readily conceded that his own philosophical position did not offer a rational basis for moral judgments. His intellectual honesty was refreshing, if somewhat disturbing on this point." This underlines the fact that atheists have no moral grounding except maybe the one they learnt from religion.


The atheist philosopher Peter Singer defends the practice of bestiality (as well as abortion, infanticide and euthanasia). Despite holding these immoral views the liberal and pro-evolution academic establishment rewarded his views with a bioethics chair at Princeton University


In response to the question, "Why is incest wrong?", the atheist Lawrence Krauss said, "It's not clear to me that it is wrong."



2. Hatred towards God.
Angry and bitter and attacks on Christianity and Christians by atheists are most often due to hatred towards Jesus Christ and the Bible. I gave sufficient proof of that HERE and HERE.

I would challenge every atheist who is reading this article to truly seek God with an open mind. I guarantee if you open your heart, ask Him to reveal Himself to you, and seek Him sincerely, you will find Him.

Mr. Murray was raised by Madalyn Murray O'Hair who founded the organization American Atheists.

Atheism has also been confirmed to have a lower retention rate compared to other worldviews

A troubled/non-existent relationship with a father can influence a person to become an atheist. Dr. Paul Vitz wrote a book entitled Faith of the Fatherless in which he points out that after studying the lives of more than a dozen leading atheists he found that a large majority of them had a father who was present but weak, present but abusive, or absent. Dr. Vitz also examined the lives of prominent theists who were contemporaneous to their atheist counterparts and from the same culture and in every instance these prominent theists had a good relationship with his father. Dr. Vitz has also stated other common factors he observed in the leading atheists he profiled: they were all intelligent and arrogant.

The book Atheist Persona: Causes and Consequences by John J. Pasquini, Th.D. indicates that many of the prominent atheists (and prominent practical atheists) who had dysfunctional/absent fathers that he lists in his book also had dysfunctional/absent mothers.




6. Pride/Rebellion

Atheism stems from a choice to ignore the reality of God's existence.

The atheist Friedrich Nietzsche wrote: "But now God is dead. You superior men, this God was your greatest danger. Only since he is in the grave, have you risen again. Only now comes the great noontide; only now the superior man will be – Lord!".

Atheists have also given themselves pretentious monikers such as freethinker and rationalist.




7. Narcissism.
Since they need to find meaning elsewhere other than God. Atheists have been proven to pursue gratification from vanity and to have an egoistic admiration of their own attributes. Jesus Christ however espoused a teaching different from this.

Jesus Christ and his apostles taught a gospel of love which included sacrificial love. Jesus said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13).




8. Immaturity.

A Georgetown University study was published indicating that only about 30 percent of those who grow up in an atheist household in the United States remain atheists as adults. A 2012 study by the General Social Survey of the social science research organization NORC at the University of Chicago found that belief in God rises with age, even in atheistic nations.

The ages 14-19 are very influential in terms of an individual adopting atheism.

Vox Day writes about immaturity being a causal factor for atheism: "the age at which most people become atheists indicates that it is almost never an intellectual decision, but an emotional one". (This is why most self-identified atheists are angry, bitter, and immature. The anger, bitterness, and immaturity are usually the cause of the atheism, they are not, as many Christians erroneously suppose, the effects).

Ken Ammi concurs in his essay and writes:
“It is widely known that some atheists rejected God in their childhood, based on child like reasons, have not matured beyond these childish notions and thus, maintain childish-emotional reactions toward the idea of God."

According to the World Health Organization's (WHO) regional office in Europe, "The WHO European Region has the highest proportion in the world of total ill health, suicide and premature death due to alcohol

Religion has "enormous potential for lowering the risk of substance abuse among teens and adults," according to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse



9. Anger and bitterness.

On January 1, 2011, CNN reported:
“People unaffiliated with organized religion, atheists and agnostics also report anger toward God either in the past, or anger focused on a hypothetical image - that is, what they imagined God might be like - said lead study author Julie Exline, Case Western Reserve University psychologist.

In studies on college students, atheists and agnostics reported more anger at God during their lifetimes than believers.”

Various studies found that traumatic events in people's lives has a positive correlation with "emotional atheism".

The atheist, lesbian Greta Christina told the journalist Chris Mooney on the Point of Inquiry podcast, "there isn't one emotion" that affects atheists "but anger is one of the emotions that many of us have ...it drives others to participate in the movement".

Jesus Christ and Christendom have emphasized the important of forgiveness and in the last few decades mental health specialists have increasingly seen the importance of forgiveness to alleviate anger and other emotional problems within individuals.

10. Hedonism.
The Apostle Paul wrote that in the end times, men would be lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Timothy 3:1-4).

Engaging in overseas evangelism/outreaches in poor countries often requires significant hardships/persecution and western atheists by in large have been unwilling to endure such hardships in order to spread atheistic ideology - especially when compared to Christianity.

Just like several other christian organizations, the Christian relief organization Feed My Starving Children has a distribution partner in Malawi, Africa. In recent years, Christianity has seen a rapid growth in Africa. In 2005, there were four times as many non-Western World Christians as there were Western World Christians.

Western World atheists have not engaged in a significant amount of global outreach, especially to countries struggling with poverty and hunger.

11. Naiveté/Gullibility
Many atheists have embraced a number of far fetched, unworkable, and errant notions and ideologies such as communism, abiogenesis, and evolution despite abundant evidence of their falsity.

A comprehensive study by Baylor University found that the irreligious and the members of more liberal Protestant denominations, tend to be much more likely to believe in the paranormal and in pseudoscience than evangelical Christians. Also, as noted above, a 1980 study published in the magazine Skeptical Inquirer found irreligious college students to be by far the most likely to embrace paranormal beliefs, while born again Christian college students were found to be the least likely.

Late in Charles Darwin's life, Darwin told the Duke of Argyll that he frequently had overwhelming thoughts that the natural world was the result of design. In a letter to Asa Gray, Darwin confided: "...I am quite conscious that my speculations run quite beyond the bounds of true science."

Noted ex-atheist and psychologist Dr. Paul Vitz has stated that he had superficial reasons for becoming an atheist such as the desire to be accepted by his Stanford University professors who were united in disbelief regarding God.

Some argue that atheism partly stems from a failure to fairly and judiciously consider the facts.

In regards to the causes of atheism, rates of atheism are much higher in countries with a state sanctioned religion (such as many European countries), and lower in states without a sanctioned religion (such as the United States). Some argue this is because state churches become bloated, corrupt, and/or out of touch with the religious intuitions of the population, while churches independent of the state are leaner and more adaptable. It is important to distinguish "state-sanctioned churches," where participation is voluntary, from "state-mandated churches" (such as Saudi Arabia) with much lower atheism rates because publicly admitted atheism is punishable by death.


16. Decline of family in a culture
Subsets of atheism such as Homosexuality, Feminism e.t.c have launched direct attacks at marriage, an act which constitutes a Family.
The Family is the most basic institution ordained by God to train up children in the way they should go. Since families come before business or government, neither business nor government has power over it. This conflict of governmental laws and marriage is nothing new. One of the most important debates Jesus had with leaders had to do with the tension between law and marriage. "Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, 'Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?'" (Matt 19:3). Notice, they were not asking if it is morally right to divorce their wives for any and every reason. They were asking if it is "lawful" to do this. They were dealing with law, not with simple morality.

The way Jesus answers it is by reminding them and us that marriage does not have its foundation or origin in law, but with God alone. He reminds them of the first marriage that God, alone, without judges, performed:

"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." (Matt 19:4-6)

So Jesus takes marriage laws and removes them from marriage and reminds us that "laws" or what is "lawful" is not the real issue. The issue is what is "right", not what is lawful. In most countries people are free to divorce their spouses for reasons other than "marital unfaithfulness." Even though they are lawfully divorced this does not make them "morally" divorced. They still have vows they made before God, and no government can release people from the vows they made before God.

Mary Eberstadt, a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, found the decline of family values such as; Strong emphasis on the sanctity of marriage-Opposition to homosexual indoctrination-Pro-life beliefs-Belief in the importance of religion and prayer in everyday life-An emphasis on truth and humility-An emphasis on hard-work and strong personal character-An emphasis on personal responsibility-Belief that parents, and not government or public schools, know what is best for their children-Emphasis on self reliance, as opposed to government handouts-Respect for historical precedence and longstanding values-Teaching respect for the opposite sex, Chivalry-Respecting personal property-Respecting education-Teaching children to respect their elders, particularly within the family e.t.c. leads to a rise in secularization.



17. Socialism/Communism

According to the University of Cambridge, historically, the "most notable spread of atheism was achieved through the success of the 1917 Russian Revolution, which brought the Marxist-Leninists to power." Vitalij Lazarʹevič Ginzburg, a Soviet physicist, wrote that the "Bolshevik communists were not merely atheists but, according to Lenin's terminology, militant atheists." However, prior to this, the Reign of Terror of the French Revolution established an atheist state, with the official ideology being the Cult of Reason; during this time thousands of believers were suppressed and executed by the guillotine.

The atheism in communist regimes has been and continues to be militant atheism and various acts of repression including the razing of thousands of religious buildings and the killing, imprisoning, and oppression of religious leaders and believers.

It is estimated that in the past 100 years, governments under the banner of atheistic communism have caused the death of somewhere between 158,368,610 to 259,432,000 human lives. The historical record of collective atheism is thus 182,716 times worse on an annual basis than Christianity’s worst and most infamous misdeed, the Spanish Inquisition. This means that the average atheist crime against humanity is 18.3 million percent worse than the very worst depredation committed by Christians, even though atheists have had less than one-twentieth the number of opportunities with which to commit them(SOURCE)

Lord William Kelvin, who was noted for his theoretical work on thermodynamics, the concept of absolute zero and the Kelvin temperature scale based upon it said about atheists;
“I believe that the more thoroughly science is studied, the further does it take us from anything comparable to atheism. If you study science deep enough and long enough, it will force you to believe in God.”


Sir Isaac Newton, who is widely regarded to have been the greatest scientist the world has ever produced said to atheists;
“In the absence of any other proof, the thumb alone would convince me of God’s existence. I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily.”

Quantum chemist Henry F. Schaefer III; “A Creator must exist. The Big Bang ripples and subsequent scientific findings are clearly pointing to an ex nihilo creation consistent with the first few verses of the book of Genesis.”

Astronomer, physicist and founder of NASA’s Goddard Institute of Space Studies Robert Jastrow quotes; “Astronomers now find they have painted themselves into a corner because they have proven, by their own methods, that the world began abruptly in an act of creation to which you can trace the seeds of every star, every planet, every living thing in this cosmos and on the earth. And they have found that all this happened as a product of forces they cannot hope to discover…. That there are what I or anyone would call supernatural forces at work is now, I think, a scientifically proven fact.”

The prestigious Mayo Clinic found that religious involvement and spirituality are associated with better physical health and mental health outcomes

In 2013, a study found that academia was less likely to hire evangelical Christians due to discriminatory attitudes.

Atheists have focused considerable efforts on the public schools in order to indoctrinate young people into atheistic beliefs. In addition, in communist countries (such as the former Soviet Union) atheistic indoctrination occurred in the educational system through such venues as schools, atheist museums, and clubs. Atheists and secularists rarely point out that universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Oxford, Cambridge, and many others were founded by Christians.

Although the United States with its tradition of religious freedom and a strong work ethic has experienced high levels of prosperity and religiosity, often prosperity is inversely proportional to religious belief due to men's arrogance when they become wealthier. Vox Day has pointed out that arrogant and godless nations have often eventually experienced significant hardships(SOURCE).

In 2014, Sweden's new Social Democrat prime minister Stefan Loefven said, "Sweden is in a serious situation -- unemployment has become entrenched at high levels, school results have collapsed and the welfare system has major shortcomings"

China has the world's largest atheist population. National Public Radio's article Chinese Turn To Religion To Fill A Spiritual Vacuum declares:
One young evangelical Christian missionary travels from rural village to village in the Protestant heartland in eastern China to proselytize. She attributed her own conversion to the overwhelming pressures of China's education system.

"In high school, I felt very depressed," said the bright-eyed young woman, who gave her name as Nicole. "I felt people had no direction, and I felt life was dry and boring. I felt the pressure of school was very high. God helped me and liberated me."

Todd Strandberg said of atheism: "The ranks of atheists have always been small... The key problem with atheism is that it lacks a strong 'selling point'"

Atheist Jerry Coyne said about atheist meetings: "But to me the speakers and talks have often seemed repetitive: the same crew of jet-set skeptics giving the same talks." Coyne also said about the atheist meetings which he attended that quite a few of the talks were lame
