Cc Sarahn, MK82

1st let me get this exclamation out there, Wow!!!

I've been following this page only recently after someone posted a link to it on one of the front page articles. I'm on page 32 with a whooping 25 pages too go! I'm busy at the moment but I won't leave till I drop my comments.

I want to say a big thank you to MK82. I'm not so sure you have an idea what you've done. Creating a topic to sensitize us on how to make money through writing especially for budding writers. I was only just asking some friends a while back about the appropriate platform to write stuff and much of the advice I got was to start a blog. As one who has a poor maintenance culture, I am certain that blogs are not my thing. I can't begin to bother myself with writing regularly and at the same time looking for traffic for the blog; that isn't my ministry.

So imagine my surprise to read about KDP. Though I am yet to publish any work, what I've read so far has given me cause for encouragement, which brings me to my next issue.

Sarahn, I can say without repentance that you are the best critique I've seen on NL. It's a shame that you don't reply PM's cos I already sent one before I later saw your caveat. Checking out your profile, I saw that you've not been around since March! I wonder if you would even get this post anyway, but if perchance you happen to come back online, I'd be more than happy if you send me a mail, my address is on my signature; I'd really like us to discuss.

From what I gather, most successful writers on KDP are prolific;churning out large volumes of work in short time. Clearly this has the overall advantage of boosting profit.
Unfortunately, I rate quality ahead of quantity. I know that I'm a good writer, but I'm not sure I can produce as much work as some of you do here. I must tip my hat to you all...

In any case, I'm grateful to the rest of you guys whose inputs I've indubitably learned from. I'll be following this thread keenly and hope to get more insights before launching out.

Thanks to the OP[whatever that means] once again, and if you are the religious type, God bless you. Otherwise, may the force be with you!

as much as I agree with you, Quality over quantity, we are budding writers. these people speak from experience

Amazon's algorithms favor quantity. Especially if you write fiction.

The cover could be a problem. Secondly, organic sales do not happen with fiction unless you have an extremely enticing blurb and a strong cover reminiscent of the genre. Your cover does not say fantasy. Check the fantasy bestseller lists to see how fantasy covers look. I would advice you rewrite your blurb. Too long and comes across as boring.

Secondly, you have not done any promotion,I suppose. You may need to do promos to get the ball rolling. If you have money,do Facebook ads and maybe enroll in KDP Select to do a free promo.

Lastly and most importantly, write two sequels to make a trilogy. In the fantasy genre, series are a must. Some readers won't even buy until they see three books in a series.

@Mk82 How should one price books published with draft2digital? Can one use the same pricing for Kdp on this platform as well?

1. I did not stop the one-on-one training. I only increased the money to N50,000 so it will attract only people who know the value of what they are getting and are serious about pursuing it..
2. Yes, I can conduct a seminar for a group of any size. I actually did 2 seminars last year for such groups. I once tried to put together a seminar for followers of this thread but the response was very poor.
3. Yes, the DVD contains more than enough information for beginners. It also includes a PDF guide that I wrote specifically for Nigerians. I recently added some material for createspace publishing.

Who has withdrawn from the ATM recently?
I have been selling my funds to exchangers but I heard a rumour that some banks ATMs now give payoneer withdrawal N380 per dollar.
Specifically Stanbic and UBA... Please who can verify this

That is why it is called a rumour....it is not true....no bank ATM in nigeria is giving payoneer withdrawal 380 per dollar...even the official exchange rate and master card rate is not up to 320 per dollar...

Current ATM withdrawal rate at about 5:00 pm today 28/7/2016 is N290 at Zenith Bank And Eco Bank (they both give same rates and they are the highest). Stambic charges you extra N500 per withdrawal which makes their rate currently 283.

@Doyin dont quote me in such manner again please..I said I heard a rumour..I heard it and I used the term "rumour" myself, no body called it rumour for me. This is what you can quote, you wont quote and reply questions that are vital to other people. well I've gone beyond that now..when you know something and refuse to share it, other will know it sooner or later and do it better than you.
You can keep your selfish picture book knowledge to your self..if mk82 was like you people like me will not be making as much as i make today. mk82 is a blessing to all but you are the opposite so stop forming important.
Thank you
