Thank you so much. I dont want refund i had peace of mind knowing that my hospital bill is done + it closer to where i stay. I had to ask for my refund from Dr F only for him to accept to deliver my LO in oakbend.

Please what do u think as i feel delivering LO is something i might be forcing him to do since he doesn't like oakbend?

Hi people.

So I finally get to share my interview and PoE experiences. Pretty uneventful except the part where I discovered that my passport wasn't stamped 2 days after my arrival.

So I made the application for myself, hubby and son and went for our interview in March armed with the burden of proof and all. Thanks to all the people that made this thread what it is!

The interview went like this;

VO: Hello
Us: Hello
VO: Where are you going ma'am?
Me: Atlanta
VO: What's happening there?
Me: To have our baby at NSH.
VO: What's your budget for the trip?
Me: About 19K USD
VO: What do you do?
Me: I work as a .... with ...
VO: What are your roles?
Me: I explained my job description briefly
VO: What do you Sir?
Hubby: I work as a .... with XYZ
VO: What kind of company is XYZ?
Hubby: It's a ... manufacturing company.
VO: Ok. (types briefly)
VO: How do you intend to fund the trip?
Me: We have a joint savings account with about xx million naira, we intend to fund the trip from that account.
VO: Your visas have been approved.  Make sure you carry all your receipts when going in and out of the US.
That was it. No documents were checked.

After about a month of filing an application, Igot 2k PTA from Standard chartered. Hubby's own was canceled after the floating currency policy was launched. (I canceled the Form A application for my hospital bill yesterday after almost 2 months of applying and na still story I dey hear).

Flew Air France and traveled at 34 weeks 5 days with a very active 2-year old. The airline asked for a copy of my F2F from my hospital. I booked wheelchair service but didn't use. Had about 4 hours stop at Paris.
Flight was ok but the seats were too tiny with very little room. Just one meal and a snack were served on each leg. No colouring books for the kids. I was really disappointed in AF.

Anyway, we landed safely in Atlanta and joined the long but swiftly moving queue. Used a self kiosk to fill in the declaration form. While using the touch screen, my toddler was busy pressing the buttons below and selected Yes for "bringing commercial merchandise to the US" and submitted. The assistant and I were wondering how the form got submitted before we realized it was the boy doing his thing.

The CBP interview went thus;
Me: Hello
Officer: Hi, passports please. Where are you headed?
Me: Atlanta is actually my final destination.
Officer: What are you here for?
Me: To have my baby at NSH.
Officer: How much do you have?
Me: 2k USD in cash and 7k on my card.
Officer: So you're going to pay your bills?
Me: Yes. Definitely
Officer: You declared food, what sort of food did you come with?
Me: Rice, Yam flour, dried fish, crayfish etc (couldn't even remember everything, was really fagged out!)
Officer: What commercial items did you come with?
Me: That was an error, (I explained what happened).I didn't come with any commercial items.
He took my finger prints. Handed me my passports with the white slips and said I was free to go.

I was so relieved but still very tired and said to myself, I'll check how long he stamped me in for when I get home.

Picked my bags. Went to agriculture, they ran my bags throught the scanner and said I was free to go.

2 days later, after I had gotten over the stress of settling in, I decided to check my passport (in my mind, I was certain, it would have been 6 months). Na so I no see stamp o. Checked my son's, same story! Ran to uncle google and learnt that I could check my admission status on the I-94 site. So I logged in my passport details and it returned with the I-94 information, showed the day I entered the US and that I had been admitted till December. I was relieved but still decided to send them (US CBP) an email to be sure I won't have any issues due to the absence of the stamp. They replied the following day saying no shaking.

Had my first appointment with Dr. VA today. Next one is in 2 weeks.

Thanks to all the contributors, I got bulk of the information I used to plan this trip from this thread.

if your flight is within a month and you'll need visa (e.g. your baby will need Nigerian visa on their passport to travel to Nigeria), they'll also attend to you

Okay. Thank you.

Infant ticket must not be ready to get the US passport. I rem then in Sept 2013 when i did mine at Houston downtown, i and hubby went with our travel ticket and explained we need to get Nig visa too so that they can process it quickly and the nice lady just said we should return in about two hours same day & it was ready. I got infant ticket after i had gotten the Nig visa.

Thank you for the response.

[quote author=najalady86 post=47040801]Hi beautiful people,
Got a lot of PMs regarding my last post and replying all will be kinda tasking as most people are asking similar question.
Hope I can share the details here?
for the hospital and Dr., i have already shared it in the past. It's St. Francis hospital and Dr. M
The 2700 you pay hospital covers all services recieved in the hospital including hearing test. You also get a complementary toddler stroller.
Circumcision was ok but they left a little bit more fore skin than our naija Doctors would normally leave. My baby's Dr. back home here says its ok though.

For the accomodation, it's actually a big 3 bedroom flat that comes with swimming pool and gym. It goes for 2500 per month. Three, two or even four people can combine and take it as the living room is equally big. It's available from 1st July. Pls if you are interested, get people to share with and reach out to me asap. I am only assiting as I know this our forex regime is not smilling at all.

Pls will the accommodation still be available by October?

Booking an appointment is via fone. Google d number in ur state and call to book

Hello Mumnadine, that's money laundering. Highly prohibited by the US border control, Immigration of both countries and the humble commentators of the this noble house.

Advice: Go with the legally advised maximum sum of cash(10,000) handy. Use your credit/debit cards for all other expenditures.

Don't shoot yourself in the leg as a result of cash handling. Not worth it.

Lol. Me thinks d question should be:
Sir/Ma how did you get 20k usd in ds troubling time

Perhaps this isn't the proper thread but a friend advised that I should put it up here and perhaps I might get some pointers/help.Had my 1st baby in 2014 in the us (Atlanta) didn't know about nairaland then but I did tell at Poe that I was in the us to have my baby so it was uneventful - got in about 26weeks -got an obgyn, hosp,....and continued my anc. Had my baby at 38.2weeks birth weight was 2.35kg although my last scan at the Drs office puts it at 2.8kg but apparently scan weight could be +\-0.5kg. Anyway, fast forward 6wks after birth baby went on addmission for about a week cos of seizures and loads of tests was conducted-ct scan/Mri/different blood tests on baby/me-tests I cannot even pronounce all came back negative. Baby's seizures was controlled and he was placed on anti-seizures drug and we returned to Nigeria and he saw a paediatric neurologist asap for continuing care. Baby is almost 2 but his motor milestones is delayed and he was officially diagnosed as having cerebral palsy at 1. He's being getting therapy and the other management as needed here in Nigeria .
Anyway, I'm pregnant again due later in the year- left to me I have decided to stay quietly in Nigeria to have this baby cos I heard and saw 'hell' with our 1st child (it's an ongoing thing ) from you ate bananas/drank cold water/......while pregnant hence the reason why the baby had seizures to it was because baby was born abroad(winter time) and plenty things like that.
Anyway after much talk I have decided to have this baby in America again (my friend on nl said I was being morally irresponsible and selfish) same city but different dr and hospital. My new dr advised that I opt for a CS as after going through my previous medical history and report from my other dr and hosp she's unable to ascertain why the baby considering its size could not come out on its own and a forceps had to be used to aid delivery-she too don begin order and do tests/investigations. Also she said something about the size of my pelvic outlet considering my height-I'm about 5'4" or there about.

My main problem now is my husband wants to sue the dr/hosp more so in light of what the new dr said as per querying the use of a forceps......me I really don't know as I am doing everything humanly possible not to put additional stress on my body/mind. I explained the situation to my friend who's the nl guru and she's like ask here and give a summary of the situation- perhaps someone might have being in the same situation .....and how they went about it.

First of all lets declare healing for your LO. Trust God and let him use your family to his glory.

Im sorry about all dt was said and how you feel or felt ...my hairdresser once chastised me for taking ice in pregnancy dat her sister's baby has seizure bcz of the cold drinks the mother consumed and i told her politely, clearly but firmly that its not true.

Before anyth (hot or cold) gets to the stomach the body regulates d temperature. The worst is a burn or chill on your tongue.

Having said that...mistakes are made everywhere in the world including America. So if you can assertively prove negligence then please by all means sue. However, im worried about your burden of proof because the doc wont release his records and if ts true he/she was negligent then d records will definitely be unavailable.

As to small pelvis...smaller women may have smaller birth canals. On the plus side, it actually helps carry babies longer as its tighter and cozier. On d flip side, you may require an assisted birth. So it may also b true that your birthing needed help.

Just take it easy and pray.
All d best whatever you decide.

Hey dear,
Congrats on your little one. Am using same hospital next month pls how soon do you get the letter from the hospital stating you have performed financial obligations I have paid my fees at the hospital and for epidural and doctor too.How did you see the services at the hospital particularly the nursing care and recovery room. I have heard they are stingy at the hospital too with freebies too bad. Pls is there a couch for someone to stay in the room cause I have my mother with but not sure where she can stay . Apart from the free stuff how do you see the services accommodation, food and nursing care.
Thank you.

sorry for the late response,

regarding the nursing care,in my own opinon/experience i felt they could av done better, they basically left me alone,if my mum wasnt with me i wont av found it funny.

i got the letter a day after i got back from d hospital,

there was a couch-bed in my room,

sting is an understatement, but still they r okay

My dear, all I can say is that may Almighty God help heal ur baby and may the forth coming one not have any medical complications. It's wel with you. If you are sure your first baby had seizure cos o the forceps used abeg sue them cos oyinbos no dey joke with it but anyways, God is ur strength. All the best in ur missionary journey.

.Modified Post:
The desicion to sue would be dependent on the cause of the palsy. If it happened in utero or after birth. And if it was a result of the doctor's negligence.
So if your mind dey there, consult a lawyer. He'll know how to ask for your records. Proceed from there.
Sorry about the diagnosis . Congrats on the new baby

But That's not the way this thread Works however.
Its eithr you use the search button and seek for the hospital or location of your choice if somebody has posted or you research that location or hospital via google or phone calls and then post.
Good luck

Please what do u think as i feel delivering LO is something i might be forcing him to do since he doesn't like oakbend?
I had my first baby at oakbend... I enjoyed their services. But some people did and didn't. Mostly because their hands were full.

Relax be calm.
Talk to God and tell him what u want. For ur sake all the nurses will b alert and at ur service.
U are not forcing him.
At least the rush on oakbend has reduced so see it as an advantage.
Sweetie pray now so u don't pray tomorrow.
Commit this entire delivery, the Dr's and nurses Inshort all the health care providers into God's hand. Let the Holy Spirit be in charge of ur delivery.
I'm sure you will come and tell us how superb ur delivery went and how lovely and wonderful the health providers were.

Ur post got me all emotional.

But I think u shld b sure.... These Dr's know how to cover their asses.
For the weight of ur baby he shld have been able to pass ur cervix.... So d forceps part confused me.

Cerebral palsy occurs before during or after birth. Pls be sure which one occurred in ur case... And the seizures especially at an early age like that can also cause brain injury .

My advice, get a bad ass lawyer... If u still wanna sue.
