Please house my orientation is on the 18th and 25th resumption but until this day, I've not heard from Pretoria, even after I mailed them 2weeks ago and they said my visa is still under standard processing time.

Can anyone suggest whats the proximate cause for the delay of my visa... Thanks

If I'm right, you can lodge your application with DIBP within 120days prior to the start of your course(s) and migrate within 90 days of the same. Just check their site.

You don't seem to understand. I have already applied. I just hope its not too soon tho.

Any hints on temporary Accomodation in Sydney? I hear I'd have to come in before sorting out long term stays.

What's life as a PhD student in Oz?

@ westafrican, Jorgan, Bellong, futuredon.

Download the app gumtree or click on this url if you are on pc/mac www.gumtree.com.au click on home/browse/real-estate/ sharedroom . You can get a few days rent (use your gps to check for locations close to ur uni) before moving on.

Your benefits as a PHD student is greater than any other degree (s). You have unlimited work hours. Have chances of working with your supervisor (s) and getting paid. You can teach in primary school (if you'r confident in a subject and have good teaching skills -thou it may be difficult if you have a very strong accent.
If you have a good rapport with your supervisor, you can decide to find a job in Qld while studying at NSW.

In Aus you must think ahead and act fast otherwise you will float.

Egbabiekperemo i take God beg you, i need cheap accommodation 1-2hrs away from north ryde campus Macquarie Uni Sydney. The Uni offered free ride from the airport but i need suggestions on affordable hotel reservation for at least 3 days (my budget is N10k a day) before full time studies start so i have time to check out accommodation options.
Email: meladinine3@gmail.com
Orientation starts 25th july

Nobody from Macquarie yet?
Thank you bro smiley

Ok, now I understand. I had to take that risk. Due to the new policy they started in July, I didn't want any issues regarding account statement or tax records. and my agent also adviced me to submit to avoid any issues. My application was SVP and I had all my documents complete. What do you think can happen now? Or what can I do?

I think you should just pray that they deem your application eligible for SVP consideration. I am also an intending applicant, going in February too.

I only gave you an example using Qld. Jobs are in Sydney, Melbourne and depending on your field or trade you may find jobs in regional areas too. Between, getting a PR after your PhD is pretty much easy.
