Oh good. Will be coming from nija in a couple of weeks to get job and probably stay dere a long while. So u will appreciate any useful information from u especially in d aspect of accommodation... Thank bro

@fola....this house is just opposite my hotel and while taking a stroll some minutes ago I discovered someone is moving out of the house so that means there's vacancy there for now.i stylishly took the pic (just incase its not clear or straight)cos I don't wanna be seen as something else.

Will try and see if I can get in touch with them to make equity on the rent rate.

Please confirm if naira master card is working there. Can one withdraw with it from their ATM and what is the charge per transaction?

I think this place more beautiful and orderly than Accra and their woman look hot and tempting.....its like this yopuogon is filled with alot of girls (majority maybe runz girls) due to the nasty tempting dress they put on.

I just dey turn my head 360 degree everytime am outside.

Better shine your eyes o
Youpougon girls are *lips sealed*
Just kidding, they cool and easy going, too bad you don't understand French.
But still be careful sha

Nawao why go to a strange land where they speak a language you don't understand? This is what happens when people destroy their country and then seek refuge elsewhere smh

The only problem now is that you speak no French, and you are all alone.
Youpougon is littered with clubs, so you can do that.
you can also go to the beach at grand Bassam...
You can also go to the city centre (Cocody/Plateaux )
That ks where you would see the real beauty of the city.

@Topic, I lived and worked a bit in Abidjan so heres my piece :

WORK : If you don't speak, write and understand perfect French, forget about corporate jobs.

BUSINESS: Buying and selling works. Clothes, beauty products, household articles, food items are all hotcakes. the market is mostly controlled by Lebanese, Turkish and Nigerians. Mauritanians and Nigeriens are into mini marts(what we know as stores/small supermarket) . Laundry and bars/Pubs is also another nice biz. Ivorians love their drink, food and women. Restaurants and food kisoks is also profitable but neatness and presentation is a MUST else na you go chop your food.

SCHOOL: Don't be deceived, English schools are expensive but worth it. Lots of private Unis especially in Cocody area that teach in English.

ACCOMMODATION : For luxury look at Bietry, Riveria, Plauteu, Cocody and Deux Plateu area. For middle class look at Marcory remblais, Trechville, Kumasi, Vridi, France Amerique. Abobo, Youpougon etc areas are for the lowest income earners. However, security, amenities are basically same regardless of which part of the town you stay. utility bills are strictly per as you use meaning each individual has his/her own meters . Light bill comes out and is paid once in 3 months, water every 2 months and its very affordable. Constant light and water is guaranteed and you dare NOT owe for utility. To rent a house, You need to have a maximum of your 3 months rent paid upfront and one month as caution ,total 4 months rent payable upfront. You wanna pay more? at your discretion.
Unfurnished S/C in Luxury areas goes from 60,000 cefa per month, middle class starts from 30,000 cefas while in places like Abobo, you'd get from 15,000 cefa per month. Luxury furnished apartments start from 100,000 cefa per month.

DOCUMENTATION: Besides your international passport, each individual , citizens and foreigners alike are expected to have two identity cards. Very important and more important than your passport sef. First is the identity card from the Nigerian Embassy then the identity card from Police which also doubles as residence permit. To obtain both are easy and quite straightforward : Go to 9ja embassy, fill out some forms plus your passport photo, your id card is issued withing 2 weeks tops. Armed with the id card, go to any police station close to your house and apply for residence permit. very easy.
Without both documents, be ready to be bribing your way out of every police check point (mille Franc) and blimey you can get as much as 10 checkpoints in a 10KM trip, most wont even take bribe but would take you to the police station where you would be made to go farm for free for the Government for 24 hours.

FOOD,SOCIAL LIFE : Food is cheap, beer expensive. LOL their women love 9ja men and are quite charming. If you are single, chances are you might end up marrying them.

What else? . . .

if you are on whatsapp let me ve ur number cos i really wanna relocate to abijan and am happy u know something about there.

No, Abidjan is not a strange land. The Language is not everything.. you are just being afraid. .. Go to Cocody.. large international community expats live there . (americans, English men, brazilians, mexicans and other Europeans live there) tgey speak English. . like wise Zone 4 area at marcory pkenty foreigners.. Engkish schools, English hotels, english environment.

However go to adjame or same Marcory and speak pidgin. . you will definitely find many Igbo people of Nigeria over there.. or simply go to koumassi and tell the taxi man you are going to "QUATIER IGBO" or "QUATIER IGBOLAI" .Igbo men are all over around they own shoe shops and clothings..

Moreover, Adjame is for the Yorubas..just ask for 'SAINT MICHELLE AT ADJAME " you will find thousands of yoruba people. . or find my yoruba family at Treichville ask for "habitat '.. Language plenty here baje. not only french.

SO LANGUAGE IS NOT A PROBLEM! !

Good morning.....yes I have been out of my hotel twice at night but yester night was different I walked far and late in the yopougon region.....you are so right about the bars, clubs etc

Everywhere here is bubbling with girls,cars,drinking....I was able to get this from a white French man restaurant yester night(after serious deaf and dumb signing and later typed it on google image) before they could sell to me

Harzontour, are you presently in Abidjan? Can 100k take me from Lagos to Abidjan by road? Can the money cover my transportation and affordable apartment in the middle class area? What about my Union bank naira mastercard? Can I withdraw with it from their ATM and what is the likely charge per transaction?

Atm is confirmly working at all points any day, any time.. They might not have Union bank but it would work. NOTE: ITS 1000 NAIRA DEDUCTION PER TRANSACTION. SO ANY AMOUNT YOU WANT TO COLLECT .. EVEN IF ITS 10K OR 120K NA 1000 NAIRA DEDUCTION, AS I AM WRITTING.

I THINK I HAVE EARLIER LISTED LOCAL BANKS THERE.. BUT STILL THE ONES IN NAIJA WHICH ARE STILL OVER THERE ARE : GTBANK, DIAMOND, UBA, ECOBANK
