Would he need to come back home to renew his visa or can his passport be shipped down so I can apply for a renewal for him (considering he's qualified for drop box), or can he wait it out till his school's summer break when he comes back home to renew same? I transferred my sevis fee payment from old SEVIS ID to the new one hoping to reapply since my previous application is still on pending so I thought I mail the consular first of my intention to reapply for a new visa notifying them of pending application so I was given an appointment under "221G" to come on Tuesday. I emailed the SEVP to help revert the payment back to my old SEVIS ID but no response from them. Pls how do I go about it.

Only the SEVIS administrators can handle that. Your visa cannot be issued until the SEVIS fee is reflecting as paid.

Please do not ship passports through the mail - it is very risky for him to be in the U.S. without proper documentation and the risk of theft or loss is too great. The visa is what allows people to appear at the border and seek entrance - the CBP in conjunction with the SEVIS status are what determine how long a student can stay. If your son wants to travel to Nigeria, he will need to have a valid visa for his return - if that is after April 2017, then he could apply for Dropbox while he is visiting Nigeria.

However, in the light of some recent happenings,I am thinking of defering my admission to either spring 2017 or Fall 2017. Pls what implication will thanks on my visa? Will I get a new I 20 when I am ready to go and apply for a fresh visa? Or can I still use the F1 visa. Secondly, will it be possible to apply for a B1/B2 visa, while still having the stamped F1 visa even though I defered my admission. This is because my sister is getting married this Christmas in the US and I will like to attend.

It is possible to have both a B1/B2 and an F1 simultaneously. If you defer your admission, you will need to make sure you have an updated I-20 before entering the U.S. as the agents at the POE will check your start date - you may also want to have a letter from the school reinstating your program of studies. An F2 cannot enter the U.S. if the F1 is not studying.

He can't really point out why. 1)Is doing Bsc after HND not realistic? Cos the woman was kind of skeptical why He will want to do bsc in US. 2) He has informed the school and they want to offer him masters degree cos that was his first option but the advisor discoraged him then. can He reapply for the visa with the masters before school resumes in September. Getting a higher degree than what one already holds is usually good practice - so an HND to an MSc would make more sense than someone getting a second BSc. But it all depends on the quality of the applicant and how they are able to explain their reasons behind the school and program they chose.

You will have to wait for the appointment date. You can ask the school to grant you permission to miss the first week of classes, but you will need to speak very credibly about that process. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of students in your same position.

I went for my F1 visa in Dubai UAE today but i was denied. I did it in UAE because it is where i reside. I was asked to pass my Passport, I-20, and SEVIS payment confirmation page. Afterwards the following questions emerged:

Why did you choose your school?
I told him that after an extensive research using braintrack.com and SOPHAS, I discovered that the school has a good ranking in the area i wish to study and I also discovered that the some of the faculty were carrying out research work that are closely related to the areas i wish to practice in after studies. I explained the schools involvement with the community in their research work which provides students of real-world experience they would need after studies.

Did you apply to other schools and how many admittted you?
I told him I applied to four schools and two of them admitted me.

How will you support your education?
I told him my sponsors and gave him the bank statements and letters of acknowledgement by the two (one is a friend-american citizen and my brother-in-law).

What have you done after studies?
I told him that i did my one year compulsory NYSC and them moved back to Enugu to work in a private laboratory (stating my duties).

(He then cuts in)... why did you move to the UAE?
I told him I was offered a job by my company and then i had to move.

at this point he said sorry you have no enough ties to show you will leave the States after studies.... bla bla bla

So what home ties do you think I should present if I have to reapply? Do you also think my friend who is ever ready to sponsor me is a problem? Or should i come back to nigeria to apply? I need your advise as i may be re-applying later in the week.
