This is a good news for Lagos State, South West and Nigeria in general but we must be cautious of not neglecting the promotion of non oil activities that have been propelling the economy of Lagos to this envious one...we must learn from bad experience of Nigeria regarding oil discovery...
Lagos State has been so fortunate having visionary Governors such as Tinubu, Fashola and the present Ambode among others....Proudly Nigerian.

Wow!!! Well said and it shows you are knowledgeable but kinda blinded with bias and sentiment. I don't need you to be a Lagosian but if you reside in Lagos, you would know it is filled with much more knowledgeable and business inclined technocrats. Omo liwewun, ki ti gbe?

flyingsnail:

Just 5,500 barrels of oil per day and people are jumping. If you are not business inclined you wont understand. For your information.

The oil and gas industry in the United Kingdom produced 1.42 million boepd.UK exports of oil-related goods and services have been estimated

at more than $40 billion a year in value. This amount is a reflection of how well established the UK's supply chain is internationally. The

competence of its people and the quality of its technology, particularly subsea, are very much in demand in oil and gas provinces around the

world.

Among the 5well in lagos, one of the oil well belongs to FG according to the depth at wich the oil was found.

So, lagos state owns the oil block
Fine but its an offence for Delta or rivers or bayelsa to own just one oil well abi? Spot the problem? if indeed what you are saying is correct?

SW is too civilized &sophisticated to allow &accommodate the hooliganism &barbarism of the Niger Delta There would be initiatives to develop other aspects of the economy without killing the horse to run a race that can be shared on a relay race

I wanted to say this too but I think to my own little understanding... FG could not funds the searching but Folawiyo risk the funds as a business man with Lagos state govt which will now be partnership with FG after it has yielded positive result. Just like what some economist has advised FG to do on northern discovery of oyel, in other not to risk the funds and not having positive result or low quantity, if a private company can risk the funding then they can partner with the FG if there is positive result.

You can add your own ideas...

What is there to comprehend bro? The point is that you are not happy but blindly giving us clue on what to guide against so that south west won't end up like south south/niger delta. Mind you we are not dumbs here in the south west.

I see, but you have ppl like Aregbesola and Fayose as governors.

OGA calm down. In Lagos state, the issue of Omo onile has been taken care of and I am sure the agbero thing is a national issue which I know Lagos state will try it's best in curbing that

Wizzyblack3:

Even as civilized and educated as the SW is, especially Lagos, that hasn't stop the agberos and the omo oniles from constituting nuisance. Failure of the government to make a proper planning for the present and future can breached the peace and the calmness being exercise by the SW in a long run. Even that of the SW could turn out to be worst, practically putting an end to this fruitless and agonies marriage.

When are we going to have sense in this country? So we don start to dey export from Lagos without wasting time, without future plan.
All what the Nigerian government cares about is the oyel money. Without proper planning, its only a matter of time before what happen in ND start in SW.
This Oil was discovered by a privately owned Company. They invested heavily in this search and now that they have struck oil, they need to start exporting ASAP to recoup their investments.

Mistake of the south is about to face lagos. Involving uk and exporting crude oil to uk ...a very big mistake and error but many pple will not see it until it start happening to lagos. Laziness, pride, mismanagement of fund, under development etc may happen to lagos if lagos is looking at that direction

Get the gist proper Bro, the exploration was done by private organization withsupport of Lagos state not FG as in the case of delta n the rest. Task your gov to trail same part and see the result. But then remember the condition of 200 meters depth.

You seem not to know we are facing serious foreign earning shortage at the moment. With the reduction in production occasioned by NDA and the supporters/sponsors, every drop of oil and other minerals will be required for exportation to boost government dollar revenue.

For now, we have no choice.

Get your fact right, the first Oil well in Nigeria in bayelsa was explored by a private firm,we never had the mandate by then, so whats your point? whats the difference??
SO you think exploration of crude in teh ND is being done by the FG then you must be new to the world of Energy.

God bless the memory of late Alhaji Abdulwahab Folawiyo for birthing the vision for the exploration of crude oil in this oil field.

God bless the current and previous Lagos state Governors for making the vision a reality.

God bless Yoruba's and Yorubaland.

We thank God Eledumare for giving us a land full and filled with both human and natural resources.

Omo Yoruba, we should not forget, crude oil exploration in our land is ephemeral in the context of one Nigeria. ohun ti anilo ni ki ani Orile ede ti ara wa.

God bless you for this comment. Everyone keeps talking about Lagos discovering oil and forgetting to give Kudos to the hard work of Alhaji Folawiyo and his family in making this dream a reality. I can tell you categorically that Lagos state offered no support whatsoever in achieving this mighty feat but are taking credit like they were the driving force. Baba Adini continue to rest in perfect peace.

Hmm

Bad news for Lagos really.

Good news for Lagos would be the UK receiving the first cargo of made in Lagos cars, phones, PC, tablets, etc.

Oil is a ''useless'' commodity. It only makes economies flabby and lazy.

Same goes for every other oil producer in Nigeria.

Am off to work.

You are right. We would try not to be caught in that macabre web...
