At the point of Entry the officer just asked my why am in canada, I said Visiting . He asked who?, what I do for a living & other random questions that has nothing to do with my pregnancy, don't think I spent more than 1 minute him.

My bill for Vaginal Delivery

Admittance fee 838,
Hosp fee daily 3673 (For 24 hrs)
Baby's Hosp bill 1080
Obstetrician fee 500
Paediatrician fee 250
Total CAD$6,341

Other Expenses
Birth Certificate long 60
Birth Certificate short 41
Passport photo 25.2
Canadian Passport 107
Nigerian Travel Doc 100
Post to Nig. Embassy to & Fro 40
My baby's KLM ticket 243.5

Please Note: If they had asked me if I was pregnant at the Point of entry I would have said YES . There is no point lieing when u r obviously pregnant. If u r lucky u can meet a good officer.

This bill does not include seeing doc before & after delivery. I posted my bill to give a guideline, bills varies from the city u give birth, the doctor, type of delivery and also if there is complication.

I want to use this opportunity to thank Hotstepper for her assistance when applying for baby's Nigeria document. I wld HV applied for Nigerian Visa or passport for baby BT she explained to me that its not necessary. I should just apply for Emergency Travel Certificate for baby which is cheaper & faster.

@ Yinyola Its Peter Lougheed hospital. U cannot get a gynaecologist directly, a general practitioner (GP) will refer u to one. When in Labour its the DR on shift that will attend to u not necessarily the one u r seeing.

@ Justwise before applying I read All the pages and I followed the footsteps of the previous people that had gone before me. The image of Nigerians u shd be talking abt are those that put to bed and abscond without paying their bills.

I posted based on my own experience am not telling any1 to follow it, its just a guideline. Feel free to post your own experience and stop criticising others.

@ Justwise, You are not in the position to criticize Jinnzy at all!. Jinnzy has provided useful information to all members here and i must say the info was explicit and detailed. She even stated while sharing her experience, if she was asked at the POE if she was pregnant she would have said yes. In my own opinion, that was fair enough. What if she had lied and she was sent back immediately?

We should not criticize people on this forum for sharing their experiences but rather make good use of the information as it apply to us!!! Thank you.

@ Just wise.......Do u know anyone that have said at the POE that they came to give birth and was allowed to enter the country. If you know the best way to tackle immigration questions without being sent back why dont you share it! PLS SHARE YOUR RIGHT WAY OF DOING THINGS!

Like i said earlier i just decided to share my own experience of my journey, at the end of the day Ladies use your DISCRETION. If anyone has answered "to give birth" when asked y they r in Canada please don't hesitate to share your own experience.

I would not be in the best position to answer your question because I got my TRV with a letter of invitation; however I believe there's a separate thread on Nairaland that will address your questions on getting a TRV without knowing anyone in Canada.

You lied already and this is what I don't understand about we Nigerians, you have the money to give birth in Canada, it's not against the law to give birth in Canada and when asked you said visiting mean while you are actually going to give birth.

I remembered this issue came up before, I understand your insistent on saying the truth, I really hope we can be more truthful in this country but sometimes expediency demands that you do not volunteer certain information that was not directly requested if it will jeopardize your mission.

Yes the main purpose of travel is child birth but you are also visiting and pragmatism can make you present your answer to appear more acceptable though you are not divulging full information

A man share his madam experience on this forum when she was refused entry because she said her purpose of coming to Canada is to give birth and she did not indicate it earlier in her application.

I think it will be foolhardy to say you were coming to give birth in Canada at the POE if you have not previously indicated so in your application but then one should endeavor to indicate so in the application since it is not against their law, the only difference is the required available fund will be higher
