How about checking up the fuse/relay (as your case may be) controlling the fan for anything that could short-circuit it e.g. rust/gunk, moisture or a melt?

If this were to be the case, replacing this might just solve the problem.

While you're at it, watch out for Gazzuzz/ luvinghubby to add more perspective.

Cheers!
thanks so much, I will have those looked up. But the coolant get dry every 2 days, while the temperature indicator does not rise above normal.

Aha!!

For how long has your coolant been drying up every two days?

How many of your fans keep working after engine is shut off. The left, the right or both? You should have 2 fans.

Most likely, the cooling fan started misbehaving after the coolant leaks started.

Therefore, the ideal way to go is to FIRST address the coolant issue, and the fan/ thermostat behaviour MAY normalize. That doesn't mean you can't check your fan's fuse/relay though. However, if after doing that and nothing is amiss, focus on sorting out the coolant issue first.

Since you said your engine is running fine and no overheating, you may have a rather slow external coolant leak, which you should patiently look for by tracing the coolant lines, preferably just after driving the car. You may need to examine on a ramp from below too. Pay attention to the water pump area and the metal pipe running into it from one end.
The colour of the coolant may stain any area of leak to give it away.

Another possibility is an incompetent radiator cap. Watch out for steam or small leaks around the radiator cap when engine is really hot.

. Modified : Thank you so much, a leakage has just been detected from the base of the radiator. I have 2 fans and only one works, the second comes on with a/c. (so the 2 fans are working). The drying of the coolant was noticed this last Monday. The fuse and Relay checked OK. There is actually a concealed leak. ( I feel the continued running of the radiator fan when the engine is off, is a compensatory way of cooling the hot engine). Thank you very much, it will be fixed today.... I'm grateful sir. ***** a new radiator ordered from Luvinhubby. Kudos

Gurus in d house please I need ur help. The abs light on my accord is on. My mechanic just changed my brake pads, D brakes works perfectly but am not comfortable with the light on. My mechanic said D abs is OK that I just need to clear the error with a diagnostic tool. I don't want to spend money just clearing warning light if d abs is faulty .. Please I need advise from car specialists here.

The mechanic has probably damaged your abs sensor, it has happened to me before. Lets wait for the gurus in the house to shed more light on this.....

Greetings Sir.

Check the driver's door jamb. You should see a factory label there, that has tire pressure information.

Concerning your second question, I quote one of my previous responses on this thread. Hope you find it helpful:

Regarding availability of spare parts, honda accord parts are readily available at Oyingbo spare parts market in Lagos. That market is almost exclusively for honda parts. Just name it.

Maintenance depends on the quality of car you buy ab-initio. So, assuming you buy a clean title car with good engine, the only thing you should be doing is routine maintenance:

- Changing engine oil and filter at regular intervals. Specified in owner's manual.
- Changing spark plugs at regular intervals (Honda specifies this in the owner's manual). Use recommended izfr6k-11 iridium spark plugs for better performance and longer plug life.
- Let the car idle for at least 5 mins every morning before you drive it out. It prevents engine wear, thereby prolonging engine life.
- Change tires when moderately worn.
- Avoid turning your steering completely to the last stop when making U-turns or sharp turns. This is your best bet to avoiding potentially embarrassing ball joint/ arm problems in future
- Avoid running into potholes as much as possible. You are better off slowly driving through potholes or irregular
- Do not fill your radiator with water. Use radiator coolant and do not dilute (most are already pre-diluted).
- Empty radiator coolant and change with fresh one every 2 years
- You must check your car fluids every morning before moving the car. At worst, every other day. These include your brake fluid, power steering fluid, engine oil level, radiator coolant level, clutch fluid (if manual transmission). You may need to top off once in a long while, but you never can tell if you don't check.
- Check transmission fluid (gear oil) once a while, say every 3-6 months...OR at every engine oil change. You may not need to replace this for years, but it's good practice. It helps you to know when to drain and refill, judging from fluid level, color, smell or consistency.
- Brake pads to be replaced at regular intervals, after noting the average duration it takes your brake pads to wear out (depends on how much you use the car and driving habits)

If you follow these tips, you'll be really glad you did.

All the best.

Chairman, I hail oo.

Your mechanic may be correct, and he may yet be wrong.

The sure way to know is to scan and clear the ABS trouble code (a kind of 'reset'). If the ABS light illuminates after that, something might be wrong with the sensor.

Cheers!

So far you are using manufacturer specified tire size, follow the factory recommended tire pressure.

Check your owners manual to confirm recommended tire size.

. . . means your engine is taking too long to warm up i.e it does not reach expected temperature after running for a specified time.

this may be as a result of bad thermostat or your fan might have been bypassed directly.

If no observed oil leak from the rack or hose, then your steering pump needs replacement.

Thank me later.
